The dig and 2 1/2 day job (excluding a 1 day wait for the inspection) was done well and had to take into account sprinkler lines in the area of the dig. Things were cleaned up appropriately on completion. After the holes had been dug, a 8" longitudinal crack was discovered in the clay pipe leading from our property's sidewalk into the city's main sewer. This was not noted in the original video inspection which was disappointing since the field of view was very clear as we had previously had the pipes cleaned. I was surprised that the price estimate for lining an 8 foot section of this pipe was over $4,000 despite that there was no need to do any more digging. This seemed excessively pricey for what is a 1 day job. We decided against this repair.

I've had three sperate jobs done by New-pipe plumbing. All costs included material & labor. I initially called New-pipe plumbing for copper re-piping 4 units of an 8-unit apartment building ($8,690). Besides being a super competitive estimate, compared to other bidders, I felt Stephan to be honest and un-pressuring. The job was done very well, timely and his crew was friendly and professional. Some weeks later, I called again to unclog one of the unit’s drains. The technician spent about an hour trying to unclog it without success. Upon further investigation, he explained why this line would not unclog. Since I’m a long-term holder of the building (I don’t flip properties), I decided to let them rip out ALL cast iron drain lines on the property and replace with ABS (plastic) drains ($5,000. No charge for the initial call and time) Next, due to having experienced many under-slab pipe bursts at my personal residence, I used New-pipe plumbing to cancel the old copper, re-plumb through walls, and install a tank-less hot water heater ($8,580). Having my own home and many rental properties since the late 1980’s, I have a lot of experience with different contractors. I think Stephan and his crews do a great job, everyone is courteous, and very willing to take the time to explain problems and listen to the concerns of the customer. There were very few items they had to come back for, but when they did, it was prompt and complete. Kudos to Stephan...This is how to run a company that stays in business for a long, long time !

Greg and the guys were excellent. Fast, courteous and professional. I was present for most of the work and I never got the feeling that anybody on the fairly large crew was doing something they didn't know how to do well. Greg is a pleasant but efficient boss. Everybody was friendly but there wasn't a lot of chatter on the job and the work proceeded quickly but not frantically. The copper piping was logically placed and looks good. The machine they used to replace the sewer line was handled well and that part of the work was done in about 2 hours. Their concrete work on my driveway looks quite a bit better than what was already there! I would have liked a little more explanation of some details ahead of time, but that was my only concern and it was minor. These guys know what they're doing.

We had one shower with very bad water pressure. We called a plumber who told us we needed to re-pipe entire house at a cost of $7500. We then called New-Pipe, owner Stephan came out, he researched the problem, found a way to replace one pipe and a connection for $1200, and we now have outstanding water pressure. New-Pipe was prompt, polite, listened to our needs, and overall a pleasure to deal with. They will be our go-to plumbers from now on.

New Pipe was fantastic- Benny was the lead man on our job, and did a very professional, thorough job. He recommended what type of water heater to install, and was able to install our washer/dryer in our garage when another plumber said it was impossible. It's been a few months since we had the work done, and we love our new tankless water heater, and the w/d work great in their new location. Mary in the front office at New Pipe was also really great, and helped us understand how to file for the rebates regarding the tankless water heater. We'll definitely use them again in the future.

I grabbed the installer from a job across the street and he gave me a reasonable bid for installation the next day. The other job ran long, and he asked if we could reschedule for the following day. It was a good thing as the install was more difficult than expected (tank would not drain!), and took nearly the whole day. There were no "add-ons" for the additional work (flue extension, new piping and bracket re-work) as he had promised during the estimate. A very positive experience with an experienced mechanic.

I called the plumber when the tenant in my apartment said there was a water leak in the kitchen and the adjacent bathroom. I suspected leak was from toilet that I had installed myself six months earlier that went bad. The plumber said the leak was coming from another source and identified the bathtub drain as the culprit. He came back the next day and cut a hole on the drywall to get to the bathtub and replaced the drain. He says he showed the tenant where the leak was but my tenant told me later that she didn't really see any leaks. I had the tenant monitor the leak and she said it was not subsiding. I visited the apartment and did some investigation on my own and identified the water heater in the closet outside behind the kitchen/bathroom was leaking. I called New Pipe Plumbing and told them that their Plumber misidentified the problem which cost me $825. They said they would replace the water heater for a discounted price of $1100. I already knew the cost of replacing the water heater having it done by another A+ Angie's List Plumber for $900. I was furious with New Pipe Plumbing and would never use them again!

Their person came exactly as scheduled and began the service call by running a camera down the sewer line to determine if the sewer line was blocked or if if had collapsed. I have never had anyone do that first before, and was extremely impressed that he did this without charging extra. He took me outside and let me see (by running the camera down the line again) all the issues with our main sewer line (in place since 1920) and told me that it will all have to be replaced as soon as possible. He brought his supervisor back later to give me an estimate on the additional work, but we will have to save up for it for a while. He did a good job of cleaning out what he could and took care to get it right. We were vary happy with the work.

Here is a link to a detailed play-by-play of this service: http://restless-souls.com/newpipe. I'll give a revised version here. I had a leaking pipe in my attic and I was leaving on vacation in 3 days. A friend was using New-Pipe for a large job in his new house and recommended them, the recommendation was based on his price for major work and the good reviews on Angie's List. A plumber, Eddy, came out promptly. He gave me an expansive explanation of what the job would take to accomplish. He told me and quoted in writing that it would be a four hour job with two people involved and I will be without water for four hours. The quote was for $1145. I'm dumb and I trusted this was a fair quote for the work involved and because he stressed the 8 man hours to do the job. It boiled down to draining the system (this ended up being turning off the water and running the tub for a minute or so), replacing a 10' pipe, fix a potentially wet beam, and patching drywall. The next day he came out with his brother to do the work. I took off to work expecting a four hour ordeal. He told my roommate, don't worry the water won't be off for more than 30 minutes. Hmmm, strange. Sure enough he was done in less than 45 minutes. It took him almost as long to elaborate on how much work it would require as it did to actually do the work. He did not replace a beam because it was "structurally important and my roof would fall down", strange it should've been the same when he was out to quote the work. So instead he attached a block of wood next to the beam. He did not patch the drywall although he did create a hole in my ceiling where it was moist and he drew a square around the hole so I could hire somebody else to patch that area. I asked Eddy if it was less because the work was not four hours. He became a car salesman immediately. He told me they quote per job not per hour and they do better work than other plumbers so it's justified. Also that you have to pay for their organizational charges like the many trucks, receptionists, managers, etc. Again strange because my quote spells out 4 hours of labor for 2 people and he mentioned nothing of organizational costs. I talked to a service manager George who offered a $200 kick back after I complained (initially he told me $1145 was fair). He gave me the same per job and organizational cost spiel. I called the owner Stephan the first time and he explained the same thing. He was appologetic and did tell me Eddy was wrong by not telling me about their organizational costs and for quoting me per hour in writing. He said Eddy is still learning because he came from a big Router Rooter type of company where they are trained to dup the customer. He could also only give me $200 back without "losing money" on the job, so I took it. He did admit that other smaller companies could do the work for $350 or so. I called Stephan again about the hole in my wall when I got back from vacation. It was bugging me that they quoted to patch it but instead just left it. He said he would kick me back another $100 to hire someone else to do it. So the job finalized at $845 to replace a 10' section of pipe. Out of curiosity I called another plumber for a quote on the same job. He quoted $200 without the drywall patching. That's a lot of organizational charges for New-Pipe's work :). The truth is that Eddy saw I needed the work and I trusted them so he took advantage of me. Stephan seems like a nice guy. I just don't think he wanted to admit fault after the fact so he covered for Eddy. If Stephan would've come out for the quote I probably would've recieved a fair price. It also sounds like from other reviews that New-Pipe does have some honest plumbers. I live and I learn, one contractor at a time. If you do use New-Pipe ask for somebody who has a good review by name or be ready to haggle and question each element of the work. Basically don't get New-Pipe'd like I did.

I was thrilled with the original roto-rooting. However, I was dubious about escalating to the first drain replacement after the plumber claimed that the sink would simply stop up again in 30 days, which sounded like hyperbole to me. When it turned into a major re-piping, I felt very uneasy. I fully acknowledge that the pipes were old, corroded, and full of gunk and probably needed to be replaced sooner rather than later. However, I felt it would have been more forthright on the part of the plumber to warn us as soon as he talked about replacing the first set of drains that it might lead to a major overhaul since it is apparently extremely common in old houses that the other drain pipes start to break when they attempt to connect the new plastic drain pipes to the old metal pipes. Instead, he went forward with the job until it was impossible to proceed any further, at which time we had virtually no choice but to give our reluctant assent to the bigger job since our bathroom drains could not otherwise be reconnected to the main line.
Description of Work: The original job was the roto-rooting of a bathroom sink, which was quickly performed for ~$140. At that time, it was recommended that we replace the bathroom sink and bathtub drains, which were original to the house (i.e. dated back to ~1925). The cost of the roto-rooting was applied to the drain job, which ran about $900. Due to the age/condition of the other drain pipes, this job turned into the replacement of all drain pipes, which cost ~$4,400. Again, all previous payments were applied to this job.

I called New Pipe as they were a highly rated company with many reviews. They arrived with the latest equipment and we able to run a camera into the sewer line and told me where the clog was and with another device were able to tell me how deep the clog was. They provided 2 quotes for: 1. Snaking the line to remove the clog (tree roots) and install a cleanout. 2. #1 plus replacing the section of the piping as needed for an additional cost. They were honest or at least they were significantly cheaper than another Angie's List ( positive but far fewer responses) by 66%. I did not choose them as another Angie's List PLumber had a lower price but they were very professional and I would call them again as part of my three bids.

I could not be more grateful for such a great company, and wonderful technician. My main drain line had backed up, and needless to say, I needed help fast. After dealing with another drain specialist who was unable to resolve the problem (but charged me to have a camera go down the line), I called New Pipe and Rooter. Jack showed up quickly. He was honest, helpful, and affordable. He cleared the drain immediately, and then put the camera down my line (for free). He showed me the breaks in the line and suggested that I have the main line repaired from the front of my house to the sidewalk. It was not a small, nor easy job, but Jack, George, and the whole team did a wonderful job at an affordable price. And Jack even came back to make sure the cement sidewalk dried without getting graffiti. Thank you New Pipe!

This company was VERY responsive to my initial request. I received two emails immediately from two different people at the company. They came out to the house the next day to inspect the cause of my concern. They went to two different stores to try to purchase the shower fixture I needed, but it was not in stock - so they special ordered it for me and it arrived and was installed the next day. Great follow up and follow through. Lots of phone calls updating me on the status and they were kind enough to work around my schedule as I had a one-week old baby.

This is my third customer experience with New Pipe. I called on a Friday with the broken kitchen sink drain pipe. Plumbing calls are ALWAYS somewhat of an emergency. I was happy they were able to come out on Saturday without "emergency fees". The technician showed up on time and was prepared. He did a good and realistic job assessing the work. AND he sparred me the almost ritualistic home technician harangue about how the previous guys had done such a bad job. All owners should include this in basic training.... The client does not want to hear about how the previous plumber, electrician, carpenter, whatever... was an incompetent. So high marks to this gentleman. He did a great job... seemed engaged with doing it correctly.and the price was certainly commensurate with the work performed... They gave me their Angies list discount. Though in three visits I have never had the same fellow come, in all cases, they did equally well. I easily recommend New Pipe.

This experience is one of my more embarrassing moments, but oh well. I had a new washer installed by Sears on Monday July 19. After installation the installer tested the washer and remarked that the cold water pressure was very low and suggested I consult a plumber. I could not figure out what the problem was; the water pressure had been fine before. I fiddled with the intake hose bib but found nothing. On Tuesday I called New-Pipe, whom I have used before. They sent Greg that afternoon. Greg walked into the laundry room as I was explaining the problem. I saw his eyes looking at the back of the washer. I said, you already know what the problem is, don't you? and he said yes. This is the embarrassing part. The hose was kinked and the washer was pushed back too close to the wall! He pulled the washer out about an inch, and that was it. Lots of water. Greg kindly said he would waive the minimum fee and not charge me anything. Very decent and much appreciated. He asked me to put in a good note for the company, and here it is. I will call them the next time I need a plumber and will perhaps have some work for them to do.
