I was scammed out of over $6000. I paid Jeff to pour 3 patios and remodel my garage. Initially he seemed to be doing good work, however I mistakenly trusted him and paid him ahead for work. He would tell me that the work would be done the following week, and request payment and then not show up. Ultimately, after several months of this, he stopped returning my emails, texts and phone calls. Overall I have paid him for 90% of the job, and my garage is only half completed. He lied to me repeatedly about the work he was doing, for example he would tell me that he was “just finishing the blow in insulation,” and several months later i had to open up the ceiling and discovered that he had never insulated the ceiling. He also lied to me about needing permits for my remodel, so I am now in a situation where i have to back permit the partial work that he did. I made a claim against his bond only to discover I was third in line and him bond had been exhausted before I had hired him (this info was NOT on the CSLB site, and his license was active, leading me to wonder what the point of the board is if it cannot provide this type of info).

Then he would request payment ahead of time by telling me that the job was very close to being completed, so I paid him ahead of what I owed him. This was a huge mistake. He lied repeatedly about when the work would be finished, setting deadlines and missing them. Eventually he stopped responding to texts, emails and phone calls. Later I learned that he was also lying about the work he was completing, as I discovered that he had never insulated the ceiling, just closed up the dry wall. And I paid for a fully insulated garage. He also lied about the garage needing permits, and now I have to backpermit a partially completed garage. I’ve paid him for almost 90% of a job that is less than half completed. He has made my 2018 complete ****.
