Local Appliance Repair

Description of Work: Serviceman was local; I don't recall his name. He quickly located a malfunctioning pump in a Maytag top-loading washer, and made temporary repair but warned us the washer was old and that we should consider replacement, which we did shortly thereafter. He did not try to push more repair, saying the washer wasn't worth it. We appreciated his honesty and professionalism.

Description of Work: The service man can at the time promised, gave me a curtesy call half an hour before his arrival, and the washer was repaired in 20 minutes. great service!

Description of Work: Replaced the tube in the back, which had punctured and was leaking, with a copper tube.

Description of Work: We call to report our Bosch dishwasher had stopped working. A repairman came out on time, checked out the problem, found the problem and called his boss. The boss said it would be $200 to fix it, including the 30% discount. We said OK because we needed it fixed. Turns out two wires had come loose. the guy twisted them back together, put the cap back on tested it and it worked. All that took 20 minutes. Then he tried selling us other repairs fopr $225, which we declined and then the boss called again trying to sell us yet a different repair for $95. Total time here was less than one hour, most of it on the phone with the boss or waiting on the phone for the boss. The service charge for the trip was $55, leaving $145 for the labor, supposedly after the 30% Angie's discount, which means the "labor" was over $200 (pre-discount) for 20 minutes work. When asked the hourly rate, we were told it is by the job. He quoted the job, but it was outrageous for the simplicity of it and the time needed to fix it.
