+ -1 moreSee above. Service person failed to fix a garbage disposal jam and told me I need a new disposal when I did not. I fixed it myself after he left. I have used this service once before in 2015 for a refrigerator repair and the service person did a good job.
Description of Work: My Insinkerator garbage disposal stopped turning the blades. The reset button did not fix the problem. There was a humming sound, but unplugging and replugging the power cord did not work. I saw an online video re a fix using an allen wrench in the hole in the bottom of the disposal. I tried this but could not get the allen wrench to move. I called AAA and they sent out a repair person. He could not see anything jamming the disposal, and also put an allen wrench in the hole and managed to turn the blades a few inches. He turned on the disposal, it hummed but did not turn the blades and start working. He tried a couple of times with this and then advised me that I needed to buy a new garbage disposal. I said I wanted an Insinkerator again and he said he doesn't carry that brand and I would have to get it from Home Depot. I paid him approx $65 for the service call and he left. I checked on the prices for a new heavy duty Insinkerator and they were somewhere over $300 plus an installation fee. I decided to try again myself. I put the allen wrench in the hole on bottom of the disposal and managed to turn it several more inches. I turned on the disposal and it made more noise. I repeated the procedure with the allen wrench and eventually got it to turn more. When it turned on it started to work. I shut it off and pulled out a rubber band from the inside of the disposal. I then put some WD 40 in the disposal and repeated with the allen wrench and eventually it turned easily. The disposal started working again and several months later it is still working fine. If I had not tried myself to clear the disposal and had taken his advice, I would be out of a lot of unnecessary money and wasted time.

+ -1 morePerfect. I called in the evening and they promptly called me back and set up an appointment for the next am. The technician arrived on the earlier side of the window they gave me and called to give me a heads up when he was on his way which i truly appreciated. He was super friendly, quickly diagnosed the issue and had me approve the work before just going ahead and doing it. He was able to fix the problem and have our washing machine working again in no time.
Description of Work: Our washing machine was leaking whether it was running or off and leaving a large puddle on the floor. We were not sure of the issue and thought it might be the tub seal but Slava, the technician, came and said that it was actually a hose. He fixed the issue quickly and was super neat while doing it!

+ -1 moreFirst of all, they were the first business I found on Angie's List that could come out the same day; this was particularly important because my parents' (who're in their 80's) freezer was leaking water all over the kitchen and everything in it was defrosting. Secondly, Boris was on time, he worked hard, he explained what was wrong and why it was a good idea to fix it vs. replacing, and he was conscientious about his work. Finally, he had to order a special part and told us he would be back in a day or so, but then he called within an hour of leaving and said he'd found the part elsewhere and could come back that evening! He did, and it was fixed and running within a couple of hours. What a blessing! Based on the amount of time it took to repair, I suspect we were charged more than some services would charge. However, given the circumstances and the timeliness of it all, it was worth it.

+ -1 moreNothing! But here's what they said: They said my job was too small and they wouldn't come and do it! The called back and said after "talking to their supervisor" they could come and do the vent cleaning, however they still wouldn't honor the coupon, that I would have to return it and they would do a service of my dryer for $150 Completely UNETHICAL. They should have honored the coupon but obviously it was just a ploy to get more people to call so they could get more business at their regular prices. I understand that businesses need to make money and they need customers but I wouldn't use a company that has no regard for their word and won't honor an advertised coupon. If servicing the dryer was a $150 job, fine - but they should honor the $80 worth of service and charge the difference. This "deal" and dealing with this kind of repair company is a complete frustration and waste of your time and energy.. BUYER BEWARE

+ 0 moreWhen I called AAA, i asked the manager to make sure to send someone who could handle all the different brands, and he did. Stan was great to work with, totally competent and honest. I hadn't originally planned for the dryer vent or the stove top, but it just made sense. I'm not 100% sure of the price i listed above, because I don't have the various bills in front of me. Stan assessed the problem, fixed what he could and came back another day with the parts that needed ordering. I would totally recommend them and use them again.
Description of Work: Fixed a broken Decor oven, fixed a leaky Maytag, dishwasher, fixed a leaky Kenmore washing machine, fixed a Magic Chef cooktop that wouldn't start under one burner, cleaned out dryer vent and replaced vent cover.

+ -1 moreMy dishwasher refused to leak while the tech was there and hasn't leaked since so it was either a fluke or he inadvertently fixed something while diagnosing it. He was very attentive and made sure it wasn't going to leak again.
Description of Work: My dishwasher was leaking. They came to take a look and couldn't get it to leak! However, the tech was very professional and stayed awhile to make sure it wouldn't start again. He also gave me tips for preventing leaks and general maintenance. They said if it starts leaking again in the next 30 days, they'll waive the service fee and come out again.

Boris, the technician, was very knowledgeable and was able to quickly identify and fix the problem. He also gave us great advice regarding the need to reroute the water line feeding into the fridge. He got the parts from his truck and completed the repair very efficiently. He also took the time to clean the interior and exterior of the dryer including removing clothing that had fallen behind the dryer.

I started to search on the internet for a local repair company. I called a few of them and they could not send anybody the same day. Finally I called the "AAA Your local appliance service" and they said they will try to help me the same day. They called me back and informed me that their technician will be in, in about an hour. The tech guy was on time, he was both friendly and professional. He diagnosed and fixed the problem very promptly and the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend this company.

+ 0 moreThe first man came to fix the dishwasher and paid $65, but it did not need to be fixed I just was unsure of how to operate it so he charged me $65 to show me how to operate the dishwasher. The second man came to repair the refrigerator, he suggested the wires might be frozen and the compressor might be damaged. He charged me $300 to replace and repair the compressor. He then determined the wires were frozen and told me I need to turn the refrigerator off and let the wires defrost. Another company that I had previously talked to told me that may be the case and to leave the refrigerator unplugged for 2 days to defrost the frozen wires, this repairman told me to leave it unplugged for an hour. So I had to pay 2 separate prices for 2 different men from the same company. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

+ -1 moreHe arrived and was charming and professional. He was up front that he could not guarantee that it would last by filling it with freon because he said there was a leak. The cost to fix the leak would have been approx. $900. I couldn't afford to pay that much so I opted to have it filled with freon for $380. Within a few hours after he left, my freezer and refrigerator were already getting warm and I ended up having to buy a new refrigerator the next day. They were honest and up front and I would use them again, if necessary.
Description of Work: My freezer and refrigerator were no longer cold so I called to see if they could identify the issue and find out the cost to fix it.

+ 0 moreThis tech from AAA Appliance did not help us to prevent this problem from recurring again. He simply charged us to replace a part which would eventually need replacing again. True service providers have the customer's best interest in mind, and share information so that the problem will not occur again. Other service providers simply charge to repair the problem, even though it may only be a temporary fix. We will not use this service provider again.
Description of Work: The tech came to my home to look at my dishwasher. Our dishes were coming out cloudy. We had started adding vinegar to help because a simple rinse aid did not help. Consequently our heating element became corroded and destroyed. This provider is local and works on many dishwashers and other appliances which use local water. At no time did this tech tell us that our problem may be hard water, and that a whole house water filter may help us. Instead, he simply replaced our corroded heating element. He did not advise against using vinegar, as it would ruin the heating element again. He did not recommend CLR, a liquid which is helpful in dishwashers as a rinse aid.

+ 1 moreI called this company based on its reviews on Angie's List which I recently started using. AAA asked how soon I wanted a repairman. I said asap. My dryer is not drying my clothes anymore as there is no heat. He said they would get in touch with their repairman and call back. They called back in less than 5 minutes and said someone would be at my house before 5PM. It was now 2:30PM. That is terrific! The repairman came in about an hour, knew what the problem was ( bad sensors) , fixed it, cleaned out my very dirty dryer - done! It only took him about an hour to do the job. It was an expensive job but he gave me the Angie's discount so that made me feel better. There is also a 90 parts guarantee and 30 day labor which seems reasonable. Very pleased. So easy to do business with them.

+ -1 moreIt took three visits, but the repair person, Joseph, was great. He persevered until the problem was fixed. First, he replaced the ice maker, and the new one seemed to be working, but then then it just stopped. He came back the next day and made an adjustment to the new one. However, when that didn't fix it, he realized that the new one was defective and replaced it the following day with an entirely new ice maker, which has been working perfectly ever since. Joseph was so conscientious that he even phoned me on the weekend after Christmas to make sure it was working properly -- which was above and beyond the call of duty. I appreciated his concern very much because we had a houseful of holiday guests.
Description of Work: He repaired the ice maker in our KitchenAid side-by-side refrigerator. (Two weeks before, the company had also satisfactorily repaired our Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer dishwasher for $247.)
