J Handyman Services - Unlicensed Contractor

Javier started July 12, 2024. We met at Lowes to pick up new shed at 10am. after picking up shed. I told him to meet at house but i had a few stops to do before heading back. he asked if he could get a burger and i said OK but don't take long. when I got home, he was not here yet, so I called him. he was still in Lodi having lunch. I was upset. because he wanted to start before, I had shed cleaned out he help unload shed. then he started to take down old shed. about several hours of unscrewing, he got mad and start to saw the shed when the sparks hit me i asked him not to use the saw again because it can catch something on fire. he was told several times. I was getting upset. he did work until 8 pm. next day he started the new shed. We had a few disagreements thought out the day. about 6 pm I told him it was time to pack up because my mother and i was tired and hungry and it too another hour to pack up. i missed our dinner date. before leaving Javier said to us that he would not be back until Monday. i was in shock so i said OK. Monday, he shows up a few minutes before 10am and start working. Monday afternoon i tell him he not working after 5 and he got mad and said he can't work Tuesday because he has other job. i told him he needs to call the other client and let them know he is still not finished, and he will be a little lateo on Tuesday. i said to him in the beginning that he should not get any jobs until he is sure he will be done with my job because i am on a deadline with my park. he went ahead and scheduled know he was not going to be done. so today it took another four hours to finish. then before he started this job, we agreed on $1000 for the hole job. when he finished, he hands me an invoice $1100. i said we didn't agree on dump fee as well. we agreed he would recycle the shed metal. well, he tells me he couldn't recycle because it was dirty metal. i know better than that but paid him just to get him off my property. i was so upset that i decided to wait to call or talk to Angi or do a review because i was mad as a hornet. I will never hire anyone from this company again. they are not qualified/professional like they say on tv or website. then I had a friend over to look at shed work and he said it was done incorrectly so i had to hire another contractor to redo what Javier did. he put the wrong panels together which in turn made she smaller it was and missing parts too. I do not want Javier ever to come back to my property again.

His attention to detail is outstanding. Customer service outstanding, fair price outstanding.

I hired him to fix an outdoor leaking valve and couldn’t be more happy with his services. He scheduled a time that worked best for me first, and was very prompt with his communications around the quote and his arrival time. The end result was not only repaired, but improved for the original. I couldn’t recommend his business enough.

I found J Handyman services, Javier, through HomeAdvisor and hired him but it was a mistake. He charged a lot more than the original quote and was nosy. He criticized the house and asked personal questions. He used the restroom twice and took the time to check everything. He had the nerve to make comments about everything in it. He was unprofessional aside from being slow. He did one thing twice because he didn't do it right the first time and didn't do other things. He was supposed to cover gaps with aluminum but used a filler. He made it seem like it was going to get hard, but it is soft and useless. He told me that a water pipe was leaking. It is not leaking. It seems that he wanted to damage it and charge to replace it. He kept saying that this and that needed to be done. He wanted more money. I asked him to cover a door with a piece of wood and to screw it to the door not the frame but he screwed it to the frame damaging it. It was necessary to watch him at the end. He offered me a red door he took out for someone else. I assume he charged that individual for disposing of it and wanted to sell it to me. I will never hire anyone who only has a cell phone as a point of contact. HomeAdvisor has a Fremont address but he is in Stockton. Someone who is not familiar with Stockton won't know where he is located. It is better to hire a company that is known to have all the pertinent licenses, records, etc in order with the state, IRS and pertinent agencies. Neighbors and acquaintances have been warned. Everybody be careful with who you hire. Also, Javier talks about clients. He said that the client where he got the red door hired him and then changed his mind but ended up calling him to install a $3,000 brown door and remove the old one. He also talked about the deck he is going to build. He took the time to say that the lake is man-made and the man likes fishing among other things. He said that he spent twelve hours calculating the cost and that it was going to be $7,000 but that the man had changed his mind about the design and that now he wanted to build it around a palm tree. His quotes don't mean anything anyway. He will want to nickel and dime you. He had pictures. It is unprofessional to show anyone pictures or video of someone's property without their consent or talk about them. You feel like you know these people from all the details Javier gives you. He doesn't show up when he says he will and texts minutes before the scheduled time.

Javier had a fast response. Did excellent work. Will definitely use again.
