HIGHWAY ONE PROPERTIES

This is a review of the totally run down, stinky, moldy and filthy unkempt property at 269 Seadrift, Stinson Beach, which was managed by Highway One Properties, Stinson Beach. We were hosting close family members from abroad and decided to splurge on renting a house for a weekend at Stinson. This house (with rental tag of almost $2000 for two nights inclusive of tax, cleaning and booking fees) was terribly disappointing. Lets start with the exterior: (1). the locks on the front gates didn't work; (2). the deck is dirty and moldy; (3). nails protruding from the deck; (4). Cobwebs, dust and dirt everywhere; (5). Covers for the outdoor furniture were filthy and had mold spots and stains; (6). The outdoor umbrella(s) were missing. Now for the interior: (1) Horrid sewer stench in the kitchen and living room; (2) Most of the doors and windows did not work; (3). Dry rot, mold on windows; (4). Wine refrigerator had to be turned off for us to control the stench; (5). Dirty dishwasher; (6). Dirty, and moldy butcher block kitchen counter; (7). Dirty and spotty dining table; (8). Mold in the master bathroom; (9). Shower fixtures in the bathroom didn't work properly (probably needs decalcification); (10). No privacy shade/curtain on the master bathroom window; (11). No bathroom exhaust in the master bathroom; (12). Bathroom exhaust in the powder room didn't work and was covered with tissue paper to hold the operating knob in place; (13). Filthy and rusty HVAC register, made us sneeze and cough when we turned the HVAC on; (14). Carpets were dirty and had various spots and stains; (15). Linens had a horrid thrift store smell, which needed to be laundered; (16). Filthy, runed down and old kitchen appliances: cooktop, oven and refrigerator. (17). Pots, pans, china and glass wear were all visibly dirty and needed to be thoroughly hand-washed (because the dishwasher itself was really filthy); (18). Walls, floors and ceilings had various stains, spots, missing pieces and badly scratched up in places. Also Guest Bedroom ONE: (1). The first guest bedroom with a washer and dryer was so filthy and had a horrid smell that we were not able to use it; (2). Dirty and dusty carpet with lots of spots and stains. Guest Bedroom TWO: (1). Black Mold on bathroom wooden floor; (2). Dirty carpet with spots and stains; (3). Linens had a horrid thrift store smell, which needed to be laundered. I believe both the owner of this property but especially the Highway One Properties ought to be ashamed of renting out such a run down, dirty and filthy place for rent. We paid close to $2000 for staying two nights in this badly run down house. I categorically recommend that folks NOT to rent this. I must also say that I am deeply disappointed at HighwayOne properties for (1). misrepresenting the property (the online listing shows photos and lists description that is factually inconsistent with the present condition); (2). failing to advise us of its appalling condition. To their credit they did offer an alternate property, which couldn't work because it didn't have a front gate to contain our dogs within the property grounds. The other alternative was to bail out on a weekend that we had already committed to. Highway One properties promised a partial refund and I am still waiting to hear from them. Communication seems to be a problem. Promised callbacks are not honored.
