He reduces the use of and need for unsightly joist hangers by making mortise and tenon joints that are not only beautiful, but potentially stronger than using hangers. + 0 moreI talked to the owner on the phone and he scheduled a date and time to come to the house for an estimate. On the morning of he called to cancel. He said he might be able to possibly stop by later that afternoon. I didn't hear from him and called him back to see if he was coming. He then said he wouldn't be able to make it and that maybe he would be able to stop by the next week. I asked him what day and time would work and he said he would call me later. I never heard from him again.
Description of Work: Contacted the owner for an estimate on building a deck.

+ 0 moret was only to lift the pond cover over the body of water without anyone falling in the pond. This project was acheived in one day and loveing the new shade for the fish. It is truly a work of art. I highy recommend Joe Wood to take on your project if you want to have a beautiful design that takes in the surroundings and your vision, it can be done. Joe Wood is blessed with a special ability to design and excel in the art of woodbuilding. His passion to build the best as he takes on each and every project and his vision to see the end results and meticulous attention to detail results into lovely creations.
Description of Work: I contacted Joe Wood to build a much needed pond cover to shade my koi fish from the sun. As my fish collection started to grow, the need to protect the fish from the hot summer sun became urgent. Joe asked me to take photographs of my pond for his review and then he send a detailed instructions describing what measurements he needed so he could design a pond cover. He came back with a design, estimate and a plan of how this was going to be built with water under our feet. I was asking Joe to come to El Centro, CA to take on this project and he figured out a way to do the job with my help. This was like a "do it yourself project, but with Joe's oversight and hands on the project. He had every piece of wood numbered, cut to size and stained. it was like following the numbers to erect the pond cover.

+ 2 moreJoe Woods worked for us on two projects. In Feb 2012, he designed and built a stunning IPE deck for us. Everything from the computer design to the final completion was marked with precision and exceptional craftsmanship. It is just perfect. Other contractors have just been amazed by this deck. We had never seen such a beautiful deck. Then in August of 2012 Joe designed a rose arbor that is a work of art. The wood is beautifully curved and the "windows" designed to intrigue and delight. The rafter ends are sculpetd whales which really catch your eye. The fence along the front of the house is in a wave pattern to give teasing illusion of the ocean. Joe is a great guy and was always available. He is truely an artist and craftsman. Thank you Joe!

+ 0 moreThere were no problems over the course of the construction. Joe always showed up when we expected him and was communicative regarding progress and costs.
Description of Work: Joe Wood designed and built a stunning, curved seaside deck for us in 1996. He wisely advised us to use Trex for the flooring and that material has held up very well in this environment. The railing and seating areas are wood with a high gloss marine finish. Joe has returned a few times over the past several years, the most recent in March 2010, to provide some maintenance on the rail and seating areas. He is very knowledgeable regarding finishes and is meticulous about his work. He is an excellent craftsman with an eye for detail.
