The city arranged for this trimming, as the tree is against the sidewalk and technically on city property. I had not called them. They did it on their own to protect pedestrians from falling fronds. The tree is now about 50 feet tall and hasn't been trimmed in at least a decade. (I am retired and sparing money for things like this is a challenge.) It was very bushy and sometimes dropped dried fronds onto the sidewalk and street. Signs appeared on the sidewalk in front of the tree on Thursday, May 28. They said "No Parking" from Friday through Monday. We complied. I called the Atlas telephone # on the signs to ask what this was about. Norma answered. She was very nice and patiently answered my questions. About noon on Monday, the Atlas trucks arrived. The crew were all surprised by the size of the tree. The foreman commented that had he realized how tall it was, he would have tried to come earlier. He expected this would be their last job of the day. I thought so too. It looked like an all day job. There is an extra challenge here. A power line crosses the street at an angle, barely four feet from the tree. Because of the power line's steep angle, reaching the tree requires care. I spoke with the foreman and a couple of the workmen. They were all very nice, and clearly knew what they were doing. We all got a pleasant surprise. Within an hour, they were done. The tree was clean all the way down. The trimmer, in his manlift, even pulled loose fronds off my tall bushes under the tree. The crew shredded the old fronds in their big shredder, then the trucks pulled away while two men cleaned the street with a blower and a shovel. Barely an hour and a half after they arrived, they were gone. The tree is clean and so is the street, as if no one had been here. The foreman and his crew were pleasant, efficient, effective and obviously very experienced. If I ever want another tree trimmed, I will call these folks.

used one of their coupons (400 for 200) to take down a palm tree. arrived on time, good clean up. The job was more extensive then they thought but they didn't try to charge me anything extra. It would have been too difficult to get their stump grinder up on the property so they did a pretty good job of cutting the stump down close to the ground but could have been a bit more level. Overall excellent work, value and attitude.

I called on a Wednesday and Ron came out on Thursday for an estimate. Since they were in the area the next day, they came out on Friday to do the work. We have used them in the past and are always happy with the results. They are not the least expensive in town, but it's well worth the charge. There is no hard sell, and everyone we have dealt with is professional and they will go above and beyond what you expect.

I used these guys about 5 years ago to remove a bougainvillea that fell over in a storm and a giant bird of paradise tree. I'm working on a new landscape project and needed to remove some old trees/hedges that didn't fit in with the new theme. Atlas came out to remove a tree and palm and grind the stumps down, remove juniper and ficus hedges grinding down those stumps and grinding two stumps of trees that I had already cut down. They were very professional and detail oriented. The estimator was very knowledgeable and took down the details of the project and provided an estimate immediately. Atlas was in the middle of the pack of the three bids I received by about $150. They were a $200 more than the lowest bid, and about $450 lower than the highest. I ended up getting a slight discount because they were doing some work at a neighbors and if we scheduled it the same day there was some savings. I was happy with their professionalism and knowledge of the trees and plants I asked them to work on. They did an excellent job and did an amazing job cleaning up any left over debris. I would certainly use Atlas for future work.

We needed some tree work done in preparation for installing a solar system on our roof. The representative from Atlas gave us good advice and a good price relative to other estimates we received. The crew was punctual and worked hard to get the job done according to the schedule. We had a variety of trees worked on--palms, evergreens, and deciduous--all work was excellent. Next time I won't bother shopping around.

I had 3 elms and 1 cottonwood all in a sad state of neglect; overgrown with lots of dead and broken branches. The situation was made more difficult due to lack of easy access for equipment, two of the trees are right next to the house and hanging over my new roof, and there exists dense landscaping beneath all of the trees. Ron Matranga was recommended to me by the California Arborists Association Administrator, Denise Hodge. Denise gave me the names of other arborists, but she thought so highly of Ron, that he moved to the top of my list. Ron works out of Atlas Tree Service and every time I have called during business hours, the real and living person answering the phone was friendly, polite and helpful. I was happy to find that Denise’s respect for Ron was not misplaced. Ron was friendly, polite and knowledgeable. He also communicates well. We discussed at length what I wanted for my trees, what the trees needed, and then Ron came up with a game plan that fit both my needs and my budget. His estimate was inline with one other estimate, and came in below two other estimates I had received. Ron fully explained the process and advised that my landscaping below the trees would probably suffer some unavoidable damage, but that his crew would do what they could to minimize the damage. Ron assured me that the company was licensed, bonded and fully insured for both workers comp and liability. Important to know since someone was going to have to climb up my 70 foot trees with a loaded chainsaw. I had interviewed a number of tree guys, but I was so impressed by Ron that I hired him on the spot. He was able to schedule me within 2 weeks from his initial visit. My respect for Atlas only grew when I met their crew on the day of the job. Clearly, someone over at Atlas Tree knows how to hire quality. Besides being on time, every man on the crew was polite, quiet and respectful of both me and my property. They were an efficient and competent crew, and not once did I feel that the safety of either themselves or my property was ever in question. While a couple of bushes did suffer some, the damage was minimal due to the quick attention from the ground guys removing fallen branches, as well as the thoughtful cuts from the tree guys to lessen the weight. I certainly had expected worse and was pleasantly surprised to find most of the landscaping none the worse for wear. Bonus points to the guys for their good nature in tolerating my annoying paparazzi behavior. In my defense, I can only say that while this may have been just another day at the office for them, it was certainly an event for me. The guys were so thorough in cleaning up after themselves, after it was all over, you’d never know such a big job had ever taken place. The roof was cleaner than before they arrived, and the yard and landscaping completely clean of debris. From my research, I have learned that you can know a good tree trimming if it looks as though the tree had never been trimmed. That is certainly the case here. All four trees look naturally beautiful, balanced and healthy, and they look as though they have always been so. Thank you, Atlas, for giving my trees back their pride.

Ron Matranga, a certified Arborist, came to provide the estimate. He offered a very good price, including a 15% Angies List discount, and said they would trim 30-35% from the trees and would tip back to eliminate roof overhang. He also included the removal of a girdling root from the problem tree and recommended the use of a Bayer tree product called Protect and Feed to hopefully cure the disease/insect issue. Ron was very professional and explained the process and answered my questions to my satisfaction. A few days later, as scheduled, a three man crew came to do the trimming. They were pleasant, efficient and thorough in doing the work. Debris was cleared and shredded. I subsequently was able to easily apply the Bayer product myself. We will see how effective it was later in the year. I was very pleased with the trimming results and would highly recommend Atlas Tree Service.

had a good experience with them. They took down a tree that was leaning over my house and used a crane to bring it down without any damage to the house or surrounding cars. Good clean up and nice guys. The price was better then 3 other estimates, including one that I found out the guys were not licensed or bonded. Only problem is they took a while to get to it and I had to push them a bit to set the date.

I had a couple of experiences with them. Both the experiences were positive. The last time the guy trimming the tree actually broke a portion of the fence. They were very responsive in answering my distress call. They were very responsive in getting some one out to fix it. It was a natural thing when you are trying to trim a tree and you are falling, to put your foot where you get to put your foot. I have no problem with the guy who trimmed the tree and the company was excellent. I always had a good experience with them.

They seem adequate and very professional job, they seem to do a decent job. They are arborists, it's a huge specimen tree. They basically assess the tree and see if it's in good health. They are properly bonded and have proper people to climb into the tree. They clean up well and see like a pretty professional outfit. They seem to do a good job. It's shocking to me to spend that kind of money on a tree, but it's a huge tree. It really takes pretty specialized equipment. I've used them a couple of times. They do what they say they are going to do.

I called on a Thursday, got an estimate on Monday ,work done by 4 men on Wednesday. Seven days from first call to completion. The estimator talked with me about the big tree and gave me a cost. Then he walked around the property with me to see if anything needed to be done to any of the other trees. There are approx 45 on the property. He told me they were all in good shape and suggested that the tree next to the child's tree house swing set be trimmed for saftey .I greatly appreciated that advise ( and honesty. a woman at 70 years of age can sometimes be a target.) He then gave me the cost for the two trees. Two trees trimmed, one very large, giant pile of wood chips for the property.Loved it! Money well spent.

They were really good and they did a professional job. They were really clean, they cleaned up after themselves so you couldn’t even tell that they had been around, and they ground the stumps. They were reasonably priced. We had a problem with rats jumping to the house so we had to have them come back out. They were excellent, responsive, they did everything that they said they were going to do, and their price was in line with everyone else.

Their pricing was reasonable. We've used them more than once. They are very, very good and they did a very good job. We were satisfied. They did a good job of cleanup.

They did an outstanding job! They did exactly what we wanted in the way we wanted it done. They were very thorough with their work. After they were done they made sure to clean up everything. I've already recommended them to a couple friends of mine. The price was a bargain for what they did. Their suggestions were usually more beneficial to us more so than their own company.

They came in and they did and excellent job trimming everything. They really knew what they were doing. These guys were recommended to us by a nursery. I called them and they came out and gave me an estimate. They did a great job. The guys name was Ron Matranga and he is a board certified master arborist. I got another estimate from a different company and they wanted fourhundred dollars more for the job.

They came on time, worked quickly and cleaned up well.

Ron was knowledgeable and articulate about this unusual situation. I very much appreciated his expertise and would certainly use this company in the future. By the way, it wasn't until the end that I told him Atlas was on Angie's List. I highly recommend Atlas to anyone who has any landscaping problems.

Everything went well. They were able to get me scheduled in later the same week they did the estimate. They were very professional and cleaned up well when they left. They came early (about 7:00 am), but they didn't use their noisy tools until later out of respect for my neighbors. They did a good job shaping the trees. Also, my neighbor had a tree removed at the same time and Atlas gave them a good price ($250), because they were already there for me. The stumper came by the next week and removed both stumps. He also cleaned up well after. I have to admit that this is the second time I've used Atlas. The first time was 2 years ago and they did just, as good as, job then, but I just never filed a report at that time (sorry Angie). They don't ask for the payment right away -- they eventually mail you an invoice.

I had a very nice appointment to get an estimate to trim a very tall Mexican Fan Palm. The guy was very professional. So, when I called and left a message that I wanted to schedule it, it took a day for a return call. Then, he said it would take a day or two "to check the schedule". I never heard from them again.

THEY WERE VERY RESPONSIVE, THEY DID THE JOB QUICKLY AND IN THE TIME SPECIFIED, AND THEY DID A VERY GOOD JOB.

Atlas is pretty expensive compared to other tree services. Their schedule is very busy especially during peak times of year (i.e. Immediately after storms). However, they are very knowledgeable (only arborists give bids and they oversee the jobs) and professional. If you have large trees and want to ensure they are properly pruned, this is the premiere place in San Diego. For simple tree removal, you can probably find a better price.
