While I will be viewed as prejudiced, I highly recommend Zwaag Termite Control. Steve Vander Zwaag is my son. I have watched him build a very successful business from scratch. He truly cares about his customers and their needs. He has established a great business reputation and is well regarded in our community for his professionalism, generousity and care for our community. He spot treated our home a couple of times but told us that it was time to have full fumigation. I trusted his expertise and followed his advice. I am proud to call this young man my son and I am proud of the business he has built to serve our community.

I have a common wall with my neighbor. She recently sold her house necessitating a termite inspection. Since I knew I also had termites I agreed to pay half of the fumigation. As part of my inspection, termite damage was noted and I was given a cost to repair. Apparently there was a major lack of communication as to what would be repaired. Among the items to be repaired included the sawing off and treating a portion of five decorative beams protruding from the under the roof line. Under the roof overhang is stucco. Next to two beams on the second floor it was hanging down a bit. I had asked they it be tacked back up when a foot or so of the beams were sawed off. I understood that is was agreed. It didn't happen. Later I was told that was not included in the work since it was not termite related (although it could have very well been as a result of previous termite damage). The highest beam at the apex of the roof was not shortened. I was told they didn't feel it necessary (although it seemed to be in the price). I think it may have been due to its height and the lack of a very long ladder. But that is just my opinion. Given the work they did do I feel the repair price ($1,427) was too high. With regard to the fumigation and invoicing there was a lack of attention to detail and organization. Prior to fumigation forms were dropped off explaining the procedure and requiring signatures acknowledging we understand the process and that they are not responsible for any damage to the roof, antennae or garden plants. (I wish I could have run my business with such a disclaimer). The places on the forms to indicate the customer and dates, etc. were not filled in. The company owner said no big deal he would fill them in when he picked them up (he was a half hour late in arriving). Unless I made a copy of the documents I would lose some of the information when the signed documents were picked up. A poorly designed document. Several other very (very) picky items: the inspection report pdf was and ldquo;created with pdfFactory trail versionand rdquo; prominently noted on the bottom of the pages; the invoice/statement did not indicate the description of service (e.g. breakdown of fumigation and repair) and the envelope was written by hand. While not all that important they indicate a certain lack of professionalism.
