 + 5 moreMark's crew was very efficient and professional. I selected Swink's Creations because Mark could do it all. I'm very pleased how it turned out. On refill of pool, I detected a leak, and Mark was very responsive in correcting the issue - he brought out a leak detection company to source the problem. The leak was in the new light conduit. Mark upgraded the light to a color changing LED for the inconvenience of having to drain pool for proper repair. Mark may not be the cheapest contractor, but you definitely get the value for the money.
Description of Work: Backyard/pool remodel including demolition, new concrete patio, pool coping and tile. Artificial turf installation and plants. Back porch remodel including new posts, tounge and groove covering, and new electrical for 3 ceiling fans. New pool light and electrical.

 + 1 moreI had received one previous estimate for the job. Based on his Angle's List reviews, I decided to call Mark Swink to get an estimate. His quote was in the same ballpark as the previous one had been, but he raised some issues and offered some options that had not been brought up by the previous candidate. He was also extremely honest when I asked about return on investment, and that honesty - together with his many years of experience and other favorable reviews - won him my confidence and the contract. Mark's design for the jacuzzi - and its positioning - facilitated permit approval by the city. At his office, Mark had many samples of stone and tile to choose from. He offered suggestions but let me make my own choices. When the construction started, his crew was extremely efficient. The job was done very quickly, and with minimal disruption to the surrounding area, although the job required upgrading the electrical and gas lines. In order to pass inspection, the city required upgrading the fencing, an unanticipated aspect of the project that Mark was able to accomplish for a very reasonable price. All aspects of the job were completed in a very timely fashion, with excellent communication at all stages. The final result was all I could have hoped for. I am thoroughly satisfied with the work.

 + 2 moreEverything I was promised was done in an efficient and impressively professional manner. I was astounded by the skill these guys had. I spent a lot of time watching because they were such artists of their mediums! Everyone showed up when expected, and if there was a delay, I was notified. Communication was perfect. Workmen were on time, cordial and amazing. They had a lot of sub par previous construction to work around and with and they did such a nice job. We now have a wonderful, functional yard where we had once had a mess! I would not hesitate to give anyone rave reviews about our experience. Thank you Mark. And thank you to all those fantastic workmen who worked so hard and so well on our home.
Description of Work: Our pool crack was repaired, plaster, tiling, coping replaced, New plumbing was installed, along with new pool equipment. Portions of cement were removed and replaced, closely matching the existing concrete. A pergola was installed. The process took 4 weeks, including Christmas and New Year's.

 + 2 moreMark prepared a drawing of the proposed work for me to submit to my HOA for approval. He was very knowledgeable about what we could achieve with the budget we had in mind. We completely relandscape our back yard. Mark's crew removed trees and excavated about two feet soil depth from our back yard and constructed a two foot high masonry retaining wall to correct drainage problems. They also installed a new irragation system, new sod and planted several different types of plants on our back slope. Mark also demolished our existing patio cover and built a new open lattice patio cover. Later when some of the sod he planted died, he sent his guys back to replace the dead sod. He completely transformed our back yard.

 + 5 moreMark Swink, the owner of Swink's creations won me over when he described how he completes a pool remodel and landscaping - instead of having one crew do everything, Mark has specialists in each area, i.e. one team does the demolition, one team does the landscaping, one crew does the plastering etc. They all do a fantastic job, we are just thrilled with our new backyard and pool, and can't wait until we can have friends and family over. As with any job, there were issues that arose. The unique thing about Mark is he takes care of them right away with no worries or stress. He even re-does things, taking them apart and starting all over again. .I cannot say enough about this great company
Description of Work: We had a pool remodel and backyard landscaping job performed. They demolished the old pool and deck and removes three semi-tractor trailers full of dirt from the yard, put in new drainage systems and put in new pavers to take the place of the old deck. Then they rewired the pool, put in all new fixtures, added sprinklers and re-plastered the pool with quartz finish.  + 2 moreMark Swink responded promptly to my initial inquiry, and gave me an estimate of the work, after taking measurements of the work area, within a few days from my initial contact.. Mark walked me through the process of selecting tiles, concrete color and pattern at his showroom. The contract specified the start date and estimated completion dates. Work started on schedule and progressed exactly along the projected timeline. Tyler Swink provided daily supervision of the working crew, and demonstrated competence and knowledge of all aspects of the job, checking frequently with me, to get feedback along the way (modeling of planters) , or to provide advice on unforeseen technical issues (old drainage system redo). Work was completed on schedule, to my satisfaction. At the end of every workday, the crew cleaned up the area thoroughly and hauled away all debris.
Description of Work: Swink Creations remodeled my backyard. The work included removing the old concrete decking, pool coping, pool decorative tiles, redoing the backyard drainage system, re-routing the drain pipes towards and through the front yard, pouring new decorative concrete, building new pool coping, installing new decorative tiles, creating new planters, landscaping with drought tolerant plants.

 + 6 moreSwink Creations performed excellent work and was very customer centric, responding to requests and changes quickly and following through on commitments. I was overwhelmed with the design requirements of this job, given their complexity and scope. Mark brainstormed the design elements and made many changes, largely creating the central design elements without requiring a separate landscaping designer. The design work was excellent. We had a few errors at the end of the project, however, to Mark's credit, changes were made to correct issues and solve problems. The project was not perfect but truly excellent. Overall, Mark Swink was exceptional, trustworthy and an excellent communicator. I would recommend Mark and his team and use them again on future projects.
Description of Work: Swink Creations provided full service planning, design, construction and landscaping work for entire home exterior; our front yard, side yards, outdoor kitchen and pavilion, 1,000 SQF structural deck, hardscape, free-form pool with slide and waterfall, full-featured guesthouse with kitchen, handicap bathroom, bedroom and full laundry, finished workshop and our complex production fruit landscape.  + 2 moreThe overall experience was perfect! We had met Mark previously when we considered having an in-ground pool installed in our backyard. Instead, we bought a different home, that had a pool. The pool needed repair and we contacted Mark, and Mark only! That is how much he impressed us previously! Mark came out, gave us a highly competitive bid, helped us select tile, "Pebbletech", and new pool equipment. His crew started the following week, on time, and finished, on time. The work is exceptional, our pool and patio are beautiful, and it was the most painless, seamless, home improvement we have ever done. Mark Swink is amazing! We couldn't be happier.

 + 1 moreContacted Swink's through Angie's list. I received an call the next day from Mark Swink and setup a date and time to meet on site on go over the requirements of the project. He put together a proposal (with specifics) within five days. The proposal included the total cost, the start and completion dates, and the payment schedule. Once we agreed and the contract was signed the work was started and completed on time. Mark kept in touch during the entire project to make sure everything was going as planned. Mark's crew was absolutely outstanding!!! I have dealt independently with other concrete contractor's before and began to believe they were all alike. Swink's crew proved me wrong!! Swink's crew demonstrated their talent and skill over and over again. They talked to me if they had any questions to make sure I would be happy, their craftsmanship was second to none, and they always cleaned up the worksite at the end of each day and at the end of the project. I honestly have never experienced anything like this before from a contractor. The project was finished within 3 days (a couple of days early) and Mark Swink came by again to see the completed project, inspect the worksite to make sure it was clean, and pickup the final payment. I can't say enough good things about how this project turned out and our great experience with the company.
Description of Work: Swink's creations built a raised brick and concrete patio area (20'x15') in the backyard of my home. The project also included the construction of several steps to the patio and some other minor masonry work.

Mark and his crew were very professional throughout the process, accepting changes as we went along. Mark got all the appropriate permits from the City, arranged all work schedules with the various crews and kept the communication lines open with us. The Spa 10 x 8 with stone around it is quite beautiful. The garage was done in high quality, and the stamped concrete really blends it all together. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a high quality honest contractor.

 + 1 moreSwink Creations installed a tinted concrete slab and drains on my side yard measuring approximately 22 FT by 50 FT, in addition to some other conduit and brick work. This part of the project went well. Swink Creations also installed stone-like concrete pavers in my courtyard totalling about 400 SFT. The paver installation was fine except the grout work. The polymer grout did not cure properly leaving sandy, unhardened grout in some places. When it rains or the surface is hosed off the grout washes out, leaving serious holes between pavers. I suspect this is a problem with the grout application as others areas of the surface have hardened just fine. My issue with Swink Creations is not the mistake in grout application but the difficulty in getting them to fix the problem. Months have passed and the problem remains. That said, I think Swink Creations is a reputable company and I am comfortable that they will fix the problem eventually. Generally speaking, I found Swink Creations easy to deal with, responsive and capable. I would recommend them to others after they fix the grout problem in my courtyard.

Scheduled a time but had an opening before the date and so did the job even quicker than promised. The workmen were professional and friendly. The tile work on the pool was done to satisfaction and I was happy with the work. The price was very competitive.

Sprinklers were installed with a new timer promised but instead Company tied multiple actuators together resulting in decreased pressure for hillside watering. Most of the other work seems to be quality. Company did not followup or contact after last payment.

 + 2 moreMark was never pushy, and has a laid back style coupled with puncuality for deadlines that we loved. He responded to our request for an estimate quickly, gave us realistic timeframes, kept to the budget, and gave us great ideas along the way. We would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Mark did a phenomenal job for us. Not only did he build us the outdoor living area that we dreamed of (which had a covered gazebo, a fireplace, lighting, heating, new concrete work, etc), but he also did all the landscaping, resurfaced our Bar-b-que, redid our pool pump system, and everything was completed on time, and with an attention to detail that we came to count on. He had great suggestions when we had questions, he handled all the permitting with the city, and we are extrememely happy with the results.

 + 3 moreOn time and on schedule with every aspect of the project. We had quotes $20,000 higher with less work. Swink's creations did everything in less than 5 weeks. They cleaned up every day and even replaced some of my existing brink work in the driveway that became chipped during all the heavy equipment moving around. We did not need to ask Mark to do this, he did it all on his own.If you need a new pool, restoration like me, or an add-on, Swink's creations will not disappoint.
Description of Work: Mark Swink was a true professional in all aspects of my project. His recommendations were spot on, his pricing was 20% lower than other estimates and he hit every milestone exactly on target. We were so impressed with his company that we rehired him for some landscaping project. We had a 40 year old Anthony Swimming pool that had completely fallen into disrepair and had sat empty for several years. Swink's creations designed a complete restoration of the pool, decking, patio and equipment. In less than 5 weeks he completely demolished the pool surface, removed all old pool equipment, plumbing and decking. He then restructured a new jacuzzi within the pool, re-gunited the pool from 9 1/2" deep to 7', replastered, tiled, replumbed and completed the electrical. He installed all new deck drains including drains in the landscaped area around the pool. He sloped all the new concrete so the drains were most effective. He took all downspouts from my existing gutters and plumbed them directly into the drainage system so rain water would not sit on the patio. He then installed all new high efficiency variable speed pumps, servo controlled valves and remote controlled actuators so the pool operation is virtually maintenance free. A remote chlorinator was added and a massive filtering system. Once it was fired up and operating, the pool looks amazing. The lighting is excellent, the pool stays clean and inviting all the time.
