We had a "garden" style 4" thick slumpstone block wall across our backyard at our Simi Valley home that had shifted on it's foundation, and was leaning outward away from our property. A neighbor that shares the wall with us got 4 quotes from local wall contractors. After the contractor we chose to do the work backed out due to a family problem, I searched for a new wall contractor, as I didn't like the other 3 bids. I am extremely happy that I found Robert Palacios Masonry. When Bob came the very next day to view the wall and give us a quote, I knew right away that Bob was the right person to rebuild our wall. None of the other 4 contractors knew what type of wall we had, nor what was the best way to restore it. Only Bob recognized right away that we had a "Proto II" wall, which is a light weight, quickly built wall that is built without rebar, and instead held together in a "post-tension" manner using threaded rods, and only mortar between the blocks. Bob told me this type of wall should not have been built on a slope grade, nor had any dirt or trees up against it. A previous owner had put in a 2' tall planter box with trees. Bad idea by them! Bob rebuilt the lower portion of the wall using 8" wide blocks, making it a true retaining wall that extends just above the planter. This saved us from having to demolish and remove our stone planter box. He epoxied in rebar posts on 24" centers inside the 8" blocks, and filled all of them with mortar cement. The top portion was rebuilt using the 4" wide blocks that his crew carefully saved when the wall was dismantled. This made the newly rebuilt top portion blend into the surrounding walls, so it didn't have a "new wall" look that unpleasantly stuck out. We also had a portion of our side wall rebuilt at the same time, and in the same manner I just described. Both look great, and as if they are the original walls. Bob and his crew are top notch professionals that were on time, clean, courteous to our adjacent neighbors, and did the job exactly as agreed upon in the time quoted, and at the price stated. No ups and extras. You could not find a better wall construction, rebuild, and repair company than Robert Palacios Masonry. Would hire them again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Bob!

Job went well. A section of my masonry block wall had lifted up several inches because of a large root from the neighbors tree. This also caused an iron gate attached to the masonry wall to not be able to latch closed. Bob (the owner) came out and gave me what I believe was a fair and reasonable estimate for the repair work to be done. The work included repouring of the footing and rebuilding about a 6 foot section of block wall with the appropriate rebar to secure the wall and resetting the gate. On the scheduled day, Bob came out with his crew on time and they started the work. They worked hard and were able to complete the job in one day. Bob and his crew were polite and professional and cleaned up after the job. I note that there was a small section of broken concrete pavement adjacent to the wall that needed to be sawcut as part of the job. At the end of the day when the crew was still there but cleaning up, I came home and noticed that a small section of the sawcut concrete was not cut evenly. It looked a little strange and I called Bob and he had his crew cut out a few more inches across so that it was straight. I feel like Bob wanted to make sure we were happy with the job and we are. The finished wall looks very nice and we hope that it will last a very long time!

Robert and his team did a great job creating these spaces for us. I am very detail-minded, Robert was patient, listened to what we wanted and did his best to provide a great product. We get many compliments on our yard and we are very happy with the spaces that were created. His construct has been durable and is attractive. I highly recommend him.

The work was done by Robert and his crew. They were very good, neat, clean and worked hard everyday, they cleaned up at the end of the day and never left a mess. Their work was excelent. The job was completed on time and for the agreed upon amount. The crew Nicho, Augustin and Martin were extremely nice and reliable, I trusted them so much that I gave them a key to my gate and house durring the project. Any further masanory work that I need will be done by them.

Robert returned my initial call promptly (a rarity by itself). He offered a solution to my problem with the existing wall that did not require completely replacing it, saving me several thousand dollars. His crew showed up on time and completed the work promptly, cleaning up after themselves at the end of each day. Robert came by frequently to check on their progress and to make sure I was satisfied. I was very satisfied with their work and recommend them without reservation.

Outstanding!! Bob and his team showed up on time each day and stuck to the schedule. They were professional (knew exactly what they were doing and offered advice on project details), courteous, freindly and they cleaned up the worksite before going home each day. Most importantly, they did a terrific job and at a very good value.

Absolutely WONDERFUL! Bob and his team went above and beyond on this project for us. They worked so hard every day. EXTREMELY professional and kind. Bob had great ideas on how to cover up the ugly pond by extending the matching bricks that went around our pool. He even got a little creative with a way to fill up a spot that we couldn't brick over by building a little flower bed out of beautiful slabs of stone. They replaced and redirected the draining systems all around the old pond area and integrated it into the new brick patio. I WISH I had the full progress photos on my phone still. As soon as I find them I will post them. SO MUCH WORK for such a great price. We had 5 other contractors bid on the job but I know 100% that we made the right choice going with Bob. The transformation is beautiful. Being able to use that space as a new seating area gave us an awesome perspective of our home that we've never had before. I feel terrible that it took me so long to write this review. THANK YOU BOB, YOUR SON AND YOUR LOVELY TEAM!!!

Bob is incredibly professional, communicative and thorough. He takes great pride in his work and stuck by my side through the entire process regarding permits, HPOZ and design. I can't recommend him enough for your masonry needs!

I had 4 bids and they were right in the middle. I would use them again in the future, but I don't foresee any future concrete work. Yes, if I do more, I would not hesitate to ask them again.

Rather than try to win the contract, Bob advised me not to invest in the wall because of issues with the neighbor. I can't say enough about Bob's professionalism and integrity, and I wouldn't hesitate to call him for another project.

Robert is very hands-on. He was on the site daily, making sure things were going according to plan. Not afraid to make suggestions on how to improve upon what we wanted and allowed us to make changes as the project proceeded. His workmen were perfectionists and masterful masons. He came by to view the property and assess what was needed. He was prompt, direct and honest. He said that the job would take 14 days. He got it done in 11. He and his team were efficient, respectful and highly coordinated. After the job, Bob followed up with me about the wall, making sure that there were no issues. Robert came and assessed the work that we needed to be completed, and provided us with his recommendations and his bid for the work. He contacted us the night prior to the repair work. Upon arrival the next morning Robert introduced us to his team that would be completing the work. Upon the completion of the brick wall, we were asked to review the work and identify any areas that we felt needed further repair all additional work was completed within the time frame and to our satisfaction. The masonry work was impeccable, the team left a clean work area and Robert followed up each day with us to see how the project was going ( by phone and in person). Robert's foreman and assistant were very skilled, professional and timely. We would definitely recommend Robert and his team and plan to use them again for some additional driveway repair work.

Our experience with Robert Palacios Masonry was fantastic! Bob is a consummate professional, with exceptional, and prompt communication skills (voice, text, email). Our project had many zoning challenges (City of Calabasas), and before construction was allowed to begin, we experienced many City delays, which Bob helped us through. Bob visited the City with us multiple times to discuss the project with the Building & Safety division, and the Planning division. I cannot imagine any other contractor being as patient and helpful as Bob was, while we waited for approximately two months for the City divisions to be in agreement, and to green-light the project. Once construction began, Bob’s crew was extremely polite, courteous, hard working, and professional. The experience was pleasant and stress-free, and we are so happy that we selected Robert Palacios Masonry for the project. Bob Palacios is a consummate contractor of masonry work. We had a very delicate situation with our neighbor whose tree encroached on a ten foot by four foot section of the wall on our swimming pool deck. The deck and the pool are supported by a ten foot foundation that surrounds the pool area supporting it from the neighbors and our tennis court. Mr. Palacios is a very efficient scheduler and his men are skilled and hard working. They show up early, on time and the work is outstanding. The river rock top that was done for my retaining walls is extraordinarily fine. And my flagstone patio which was a challenge when it had to be redone in places to accommodate rocks of a slightly different shade, came out beautifully. This might have driven some crews nuts but these men were totally chill and easy going. They took the work as it came, no fussing or complaining. I think it is unusual to find work of this quality anywhere in California for this price. A bonus, they're polite and well mannered.

From day one Bob was all in. He helped us deal with the pesky insurance company and was a great communicator and advocate. He and his crew showed up on time and worked hard. Everyone was always courteous and polite. Always cleaning up at the end of the day and never left personal trash. When we brought them bottled water, they were always very grateful. ( they brought their own, and didn't expect us to provide for them :)) We paid to have the neighbors tree removed ( believe me when I say, it was next to impossible to get them to do it, even though it was what caused the wall and patio to need replacement. Good news is the insurance claim was through the neighbors policy! Yay!) Bob was excellent at explaining what they would be doing and kept the project on schedule. We added a little to the job that wasn't covered by insurance and he was quite gracious in negotiating a price. Now for the quality of the work! Excellent!!! Ok, a block wall is a block wall, but it was done to perfection. Beautiful grout lines, super reinforced with concrete inside the wall so if we want to add an extension on top, the wall could hold the weight and wouldn't budge! The patio and walkways are beautiful! Drainage is excellent and the finish work was outstanding. We decided on a stamped pattern that turned out amazing! We also changed the plan right angle back steps to a much more functional half moon shape steps and couldn't be happier! When the work was done, no mess was left behind. My husband does a lot of projects around our home, so it's rare that we hire anything out, but this had to be done by a pro. If all contractors were like Bob , the industry would have less of the awful contractor stories! ( Not the least expensive, but well worth the process and outcome!) We recommend Bob every chance we get, and would use him again in a heartbeat!

Bob is a very special contractor. He did such a lovely job at our house. He provided us with gorgeous brick coping for our pool--his crew was amazing! And he designed a wonderful drainage system for our house that has eliminated any worry about the next torrential CA rain. He came by everyday to oversee things and make sure the work was flowing seamlessly. Bob and his crew were always on time and courteous. He is able to provide a wealth of advise based on his many years in construction. He has very fair pricing which made the project doable for us and our budget. We loved our experience--so much so that we're hiring Bob and his crew for a another project at our house in the coming weeks.

I highly recommend Robert Palacios Masonry. The Angie's List contractor I had originally hired to do my project disappeared at the 11th hour and I was left trying to find someone to take over the project at the last minute. Even though he knew I was in a bind, Bob came in with a very fair price and was able to accommodate our schedule. Once we hired him, the City of Beverly Hills threw us some curve balls. There were additional NEW permitting restrictions for this area that neither one of us were aware of and the City did not make complying with the process very easy. He dealt with all of the obstacles that were put in front of us by the City and brought the project to its conclusion on time and on budget. Some things did not come out exactly as I had planned, but the new restrictions just did not allow what I wanted. Given the circumstances, I thought they did an amazing job and I am very happy with the finished product. Bob even offered to pick up some of the additional expense caused by the City. If you are looking for a professional who cares about the work he does and his reputation, hire Bob Palacios. I would definitely hire him again.

They were also immaculate and left the work space cleaner than when they first arrived. The entire experience was pleasant and stress-free, from initial consultation and estimate (during which Bob provided alternate suggestions that ended up saving me money) through project completion. Everything went exactly as planned and I couldn't be happier. I was especially appreciative of the care that Bob demonstrated in showing up and the end of each phase of the project to make sure everything was to my satisfaction before collecting payment. Nice touch even though his crews are more than competent. End result....the walls are beautiful and make such a difference in the property. Would I make the same choice if I had it to do over? Bob, the business owner, assessed the damaged walls in our backyard and came up with a creative salvage plan that surpasses the beauty of our original design. The design was laid out for me to easily understand before the work commenced. The existing concrete slab in front of the retaining wall and alongside the slump stone/wrought iron wall was expertly cut to make way for the new walls. The new foundations were dug deep and carefully so as not to disturb the mature plants and trees. The new walls were laid and completed with such expertise and precision, the outcome exceeding my expectations. The workers are true craftmen and they left everything in perfect order. I can hardly wait to begin planting the expanded garden area that was created the new design. The work was well worth the money invested.

Robert came out to give me an estimate on repairing some hardscape in my backyard. He was honest and I could tell takes a lot of pride in what he does. I will be using him in the future just based on his demeanor and time he took to explain the process.
