Lowe's - Simi Valley

They were good!

They have a lot of supplies. A little more hands on customer service people there to answer questions would be helpful.

I signed the contract on Aug. 15th, 2015. The first thing to be aware of is that Lowe's requries you to pay the entire cost of the remodel up front. They will then pay the sub-contractors as the project moves forward. I should have walked away then. According to my contract, work was supposed to start by September 28th. According to California Contractor License laws, they had a 20 day grace period beyond that to start work, meaning they had to substantially start work no later than October 26th (assuming you don't count weekend days). They didn't start work until December 14th. According to my contract, work was supposed to be completed by December 1st. It is now February 25th and I'm still waiting for the final wall texture and paint touch ups and other last minute things. Which means I still can't move into and make proper use of that bathroom since I never know when they will show up and need to take everything out so they can tarp and paint. I never know when anyone will show up. In all of these months, they have let me know just 3 times that someone was going to come and do some work on the bathroom - for the initial demolition which was supposed to happen on a Saturday but no one showed up until Monday and for the last two visits which happend weeks apart. Other than that, I never knew if someone would be knocking on my door at some point during the day which meant that if I left the house, my dog had to be confined for the day. When those workers DID show up, I had to be home simply so someone could tell them what needed to be done. I had workers show up to install stuff that hadn't been delivered yet or who point blank asked me what they should work on. In all of these months, I've seen my "job supervisor" just THREE times. The quality of the work seems fine, nothing fantastic but not subpar either - just ordinary. The largest issue I had was that they ordered the wrong size bathroom door. They did the measuring, not me. I still have not been credited with the cost of that door, though the problem occured over 2 months ago. Overall, it's the incredible lack of communication and how the job has dragged on for months that is the most irritating. If you have months to spend at home, knowing you will have to be home to oversee and direct the workers, not caring how long the job takes or that you might not see any workers for weeks at a time, hire Lowes. If you want the job done in a reasonable time frame with minimal input from you as the workers get on with their jobs, hire someone else.
