Caravaggio Plumbing

Caravaggio came out on time and cleared the blockage promptly and at a very good price. WE've used him before, I really trust him.

My 90 year-old aunt's toilet started leaking and she called in a panic. Needless to say, she is pretty frail and she was very worried about the leak. I knew exactly who to call. Claudio Caravaggio has responded to emergencies at our house and my aunt's house numerous times. He replaced a frozen/burst pipe in our guest cottage one fridgid winter night, and replaced our broken water heater with a tankless system that works great. I phoned him and he was as responsive as always and even though it was late in day and he had another service call, he went over to my aunt's house and fixed the problem quickly. His work is always of the highest quality. If it's fixed or installed by Caravaggio Plumbing, it's done right the first time!

The water flow in our kitchen sink was terrible. It was so slow that doing the dishes became an impossible task. I had used Claudio in the past with some other plumbing issues, and was very happy with him so I didn't hesitate to call him again. I called him and first he wanted me to try to clean the nozzle thinking that was the problem and to save me money if that was the problem. I found that to be really a sign that this guy is not "hungry" That didnt work so I called again and he came over promptly and did what needed to be done. My water pressure is great and I'm very happy with the work Claudio did, he left the work area clean and was polite and appreciated my calling him again. I will call him again in the future if I need to. I highly recommend Caravaggio Pluming.

Our water heater started to leak badly enough that it shut itself down on a Friday morning. Having worked with Caravaggio Plumbing exclusively since our previous disaster with another plumber, I called Claudio right away. We discussed several options and both started to research water heater models and pricing, trying to weigh out the pro's and con's of traditional vs. tankless. Claudio spent several hours in total over the weekend on the phone with me and several of his suppliers, which I really appreciate. I also spoke to a couple other contractors and plumbers I know of, or had worked with, and by Sunday we reached a consensus on what would be best for us. Monday didn't work out so we had to push the job to Tuesday. Claudio and Chris got started on Tuesday morning, and the job wasn't done till 5 or so. It was a hot day and they were getting hit by direct sun, but they still took the time to run the pipe straight and level, and make nice solder joints etc. I believe that they take pride in a job well done and a "measure twice cut once" mentality. The price was in the middle of the 3 quotes I got, but I'd rather work with them anytime than gamble on the lowest bidder. The quality of work, and the extra help in making an informed decision beforehand is priceless.

From a satisfied repeat customer: We've been working with Claudio for quite some time after learning about Caravaggio Plumbing on Angieslist. On this occasion, a bathroom sink was clogged and backing up black sludge, and kitchen faucet was leaking. Claudio made time in his schedule to come out the same day and repair both issues in a timely and efficient manner, replacing faucet stems in the kitchen and removing a hair clog deep in the bathroom drain. In prior occasions, Claudio has repaired faucets, repaired pipes, and replaced garbage disposals. Every project was completed with the highest degree of professionalism with excellent communication throughout.

My tenants came home to a non-functioning water heater. I was able to use this company to do a same-day replacement. They did a very good job especially making sure the floor underneath the unit was repaired (there was significant water damage) and securing it properly to the wall according to earthquake standards for California. This company was recommend by Wildwood Plumbing (who I called first). Wildwood could not do the job immediately and I was pleased they were willing to refer me to a competitor.

He called me to confirm day and time and called me again when he was on his way. Took his time, making sure everything worked well. Price was really reasonable considering the time spent on the job. Very professional from beginning to end.

He was terrific. He did an outstanding job. He was there for four hours. He was very professional on the phone. He was on time. He left everything miraculously. I did not have any problems. He showed me what he did and explained everything. He was polite and clean. Even though he was doing all these work, he looked clean. He had a friendly professionalism in him. He was a very pleasant person. He couldn’t have improved more. He exceeded standards. He was great. His price was great. He did everything great. There was nothing I was dissatisfied with. He will be my go through guy for everything. I would use them in the future.

Came in on-time as scheduled. Cleaned it up real nice, in less than 20 minutes. Left no mess. Haven't had problems with toilet since. A little bit upset about having to pay $100 for 20 minutes of work but that's how it goes. Update: Repeat customer, fair price. highly recommend. Is now my plumber going forward

I saw all of the great reviews and so I called Caravaggio's for a couple of small plumbing jobs: a couple of our faucets were loose and twisting at the base, my toilet was running, and I needed a new soap dispenser because an old one had rusted out. He was running very late, so much so that I had to leave soon after he arrived and leave a signed check with my babysitter. I should have gotten a firm commitment on price but since they were such small jobs (I thought it would take an hour tops!) and he had such good reviews I didn't think it was necessary. Big mistake. When I called my sitter a couple of hours later, she said he had charged $469 -- to tighten a couple of faucets, replace the float in the toilet, and put a new soap dispenser in? The soap dispenser needed to be sealed -- which he did a very good job doing. The reason it was so expensive, he said, was because one of the faucets needed a new part and that he had been on the phone with Kohler for a couple of hours (which he charged me his hourly rate for -- how about telling me the part and letting me stay on hold with Kohler so I'm not charged $100+ an hour?) When I looked at the bill, I saw that he had actually overcharged me on time, so I called him and he said that yes he overcharged, but that he undercharged me on the toilet part?? He would give me some money back when he had to come back to install the new Kohler part. When I looked under the sink where he had the problem faucet, there was sawdust all over and they had done nothing to clean up. Within days, the faucets that he had tightened were loose again. He did come back to install the new part and re-tighten the faucets, but -- surprise surprise -- they are loose again. Oh, and while he didn't charge me for the return visit, there was no promised refund. As one other person noted, he also had a helper (looked like a teenager) with him on the first $469 visit. This is the first Angie's List contractor I have had a bad experience with. My lesson: get a firm commitment on price even from contractors who have great reviews.

He sent someone else to fix it. I like the owner he will answer any questions you have. He is very responsive. His employee has to reference him a lot.

Our bathtub faucet was dripping. When we called another plumber, they replaced the thermostatic valve which did not solve the problem. They then informed us that they would need to rip out the tile in the wall to get to whatever the problem was. We called Carravagio instead. Carravagio Plumbing tried the thermostatic valve and then discovered that it was in fact two other release valves that needed to be replaced that our former plumbers were unaware of. A quick phone call and parts pick up later and everything was fixed perfectly with no mess or fuss. We were so relieved! Carravagio not only fixed out bathtub leak for much cheaper than tearing into our wall, they even explained to us how it could've happened in the first place so we can avoid such problems in the future. They were respectful of our time and very patient. I highly recommend them.

The service went great. He is a very good plumber. He is very clean and does not leave a trail.

He charged us $779. He was here approximately 4 hours. He had a co-worker with him, which we did not ask for. He did that on his own. He charged $90 an hour and then for the coworker another 30 dollars an hour. I felt this was absurdly beyond ridiculous. I even helped him some. He used my drill because it had a longer drill bit than the one that he had. We did not initially discuss price and that was mt fault but nowhere did I think that it would be as exorbitant as it was. The work he did was good. No argument with that. He listed $200 in parts in order to do this job. That amounted to several fittings and the actual line he used to connect the ice maker. When we made and issue he did send $100 back. We had bought the appliance from Pacific Sales. They said they had someone that could do that. We thought we would try someone from Angie's Lits since we have had luck in the past. We choose not to have Caravaggio in the future. We had Pacific Sales person install a microwave for $99. I asked him what he would charge for a dishwasher and he said it was $99. He does not go by an hourly rate. He goes by what it cost, what the standard rate is. I told him what we were charge by Caravaggio and he told us we were being gouged. He said no one should charge more than $40 an hour. He said to install the water line should not have been more th $99 for labor. He said anything more than that would have been excessive. Including part for both he said it should not have been more than $250.

Claudio had to cancel the first appointment due to unexpected delays on a previous job. However, he rescheduled for 7:30 am the following day and completed the job in about one hour.

My very first attempt to contact Caravaggio Plumbing wasn't successful -- I had left a voicemail and requested a call back but didn't receive one (and I thought perhaps the number was incorrect, because it was obviously a private number and not answered with the business name). I'm certainly glad I tried again! Our toilets hadn't been flushing efficiently and one would occasionally stop up. Claudio arrived when he said he would and said he felt that the main problem was the aged toilets. We agreed quickly to installing two new low-flow toilets, happy to reduce our water usage. He assured us that when they replaced the toilets they would run the snake in the drain on the one that kept stopping up. But when they lifted that old toilet, the sight of a large tree root greeted them, and Claudio called for me to come look, admitting that the problem had not been with the toilet after all. We told him we still wanted both toilets replaced; that wasn't an issue. It took hours for them to grind that root out -- they had to go get a larger piece of equipment to do it. They were careful to avoid dirtying the carpet, and Claudio even cleaned the bathroom floors when he finished up. The new toilets are great. We will definitely use Caravaggio Plumbing again and are happy to recommend them.

Service was prompt and professional. It's nice to know that there are still some honest plumbing professionals out there!

He was having a particularly busy plumbing day (plumbing problems would be more urgent, in my opinion) so he was delayed in getting to my location. He called to let me know what was going on and to give me a new arrival time. He was OUTSTANDING. So professional, patient and knowledgeable. Thank you Claudio!!! I will MOST definitely call him again any time I have a plumbing issue or lawn irrigation issue!! How do I recommend him for HONORS????

Claudio charged us a $100 less than another company we contacted. He did the work quickly and did a very good job.

Claudio is really a wonderful man, and a real professional, in every sense of that word. If he says he will fix something, he does. If he is having a problem, and he is surprised, you also know about it. We have used his skills many times, and will continue to do so. He's easy to talk with, and gives you a fair deal, for a pretty good price. (There are cheaper, but I have come to trust Claudio's work after the last five years, or so.)

They got here did the work thoroughly without leaving a big mess. They did a great job the odor is gone! I will definitely use them again.

Overall I feel this job went very well and I was satisfied with the work. Claudio was late to the initial meeting without a phone call, about 1 hour. He asked for permission to line up the pipe locator and called back right away after he forgot to mention the price ($285 for a two hour minimum). This was done 4 days afterward with our agreement by another contractor who was very competent. A moderately difficult slab cut and jackhammer demolition was required in our downstairs office to find and repair the leak. Draping and ground cloths were provided for the very dusty jackhammering. The job went well and there was a slight increase of about $150 over the estimated price due to a "harder than anticipated" job. I felt this was fair because he worked around the base board molding to reduce the amount of repair that had to be done. His work did not cover drywall repair or painting which I did myself. The clean up water from the cement work and some extra sand was dumped in our bushes and I would have preferred if I had been asked so that I could select a site, but it was not a big spot/deal. Overall I would strongly recommend Claudio and would definitely use him again. (My overal job price includes the locator and increase.

To investigate a constant pool of water in a planter area which contained the pool water supply and lawn sprinkler water lines, I dug a hole to expose the underground piping. I identified the location of the leak where the copper pool line joined the PVC sprinkler line. I called Claudio on 7/22/10. He answered his phone while in the midst of another job, and asked me to leave the details of what I needed on his voicemail. He returned my call within two hours and set an approximate time to repair the leak the next afternoon. That evening he left a second message to clarify the time. The following morning I called Claudio to confirm the afternoon appointment, and he refined his arrival time. He arrived as scheduled and spent approximately one hour building an entirely new combination of PVC and copper piping. The leak was solved. Claudio's expert plumbing skills are equal to his superior communications skills. I would feel confident in his handling of any of my future plumbing needs.

We purchased our own new disposal. We were quoted a price for labor only, and that is what we paid. The work was efficient and well done.

We were very pleased with this company's work and will defiantly use them again.
