Repairman tried to fix it for about 20 minutes, then said it was unfixable and I needed to install a new disposal. The disposal had power and would hum, but the blades did not move. The repairman used the allen wrench for a few minutes moving it a few inches back and forth. Then he turned on the switch and it would trigger the reset button to distend as the unit was over heating. He tried this a few times with the same result and said it was unfixable. I told him I saw an online video on how to fix (unjam) this disposal by using an allen wrench in the socket under the disposal. Anyway, after I paid him and he left I decided to try again myself and I really did not want to pay $300 for a new Insinkerator plus the $165 he wanted to install it. I put the allen wrench in the appropriate hole and tried to turn it back and forth, but it was not moving much. However, I kept going and turned on the switch and repeated this several times. Eventually the allen wrench moved easily and I also put some W D 40 in the inside of the disposal. The blades started turning and the reset button stayed up. A piece of a rubber band same out and I assume this was the problem. The disposal is now working fine.
