Long Beach Heating & Air Conditioning incorporated in 1957 and was formerly American Heating Company in the early 1940's. At that time a service call was $5.00, a thermostat cost $15.95, a brand new dual Wall furnace was $39.95, We were located at 5057 Long Beach Blvd. and our phone number was 20-4985. 62 years later American Heating lives on and not much has changed. We are 4 blocks from the original location, our phone number is 424-4985, and a service call has only increased less than $1 dollar a year! Long Beach Heating and Air Conditioning is without a doubt the most reliable HVAC company in Long Beach. We remain locally owned & operated by Tom White, who started working for the company in 1978. Our Motto is "Big enough to take care of your needs, but small enough to give you personalized service" Today's technology and the reliability of years past.

Excellent. Excellent. Excellent! The company was very flexible to my schedule. They arrived on time, were quick and efficient. The heater sounded a bit noisy so the company returned, replaced the vents, cut the wall and added a new vent - all at no cost to me, and it made a significant difference. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I now once again have a warm home!!! Thank you LB heating!!!
Description of Work: My 40 year old heater had to be replaced. LB Heating gave me the best estimate. I also opted for the duct cleaning, as it had never been done in my house.

Excellent, i called them on saturday the returned my call first thing monday morning at 8:00 they had a technician kris out to my house at 8:30. 70 dollars for a service call and 10 for the fuse replacement. kris was clean polite and knowledgeable and was done by 9:00.
Description of Work: replaced a blown fuse in my heating unit.

On 12/6/2011 I called LBHA to set up an appointment to get a yearly inspection / maintenance on my AC/Heating units. My appointment was for 12/13/2011, Mike from LBHA was on time and very professional. I live in Arizona and my house, where the work was done, is in California which makes communication difficult, but Mike kept me updated on what he found, how he was going to fix it and how much it was going to cost via cell phone. The AC unit had several micro leaks and needed to be recharged which Mike was able to fix by adding Freon and a leak seal. During the check on the Furnace he discovered it had been recalled and was unsafe to leave on. He shut it off and, after some discussion; we scheduled the installation of a new Furnace for 12/30/2011. On 12/30/2011 LBHA installed a new Furnace unit. This sounds simple but before the new Furnace could be installed a lot of negotiations and scheduling had to be done, which was all handled by Desiree the Account Manager. The Furnace was a BARD and was recalled in 2001/2002, I did not get any notice of the recall nor did any of my previous service people mention it. Desiree negotiated with BARD for a new/replacement Furnace at no charge, except for installation of the new unit. She also scheduled the retrieval of a required ?sticker? from the old unit so the new unit could be obtained. She then scheduled the installation of the new unit all within a few days and this being the Hollidays it could not have been easy. Chris installed the new unit on 12/30/2011 with a minimum of fuss, but as he was leaving the property he called me because he did not want to leave the door unlocked, the person that was there during the installation had to step next door and he was not sure if they had taken their keys?.very considerate. After the installation Desiree registered the new unit for me and emailed me the registration confirmation and the Warranty late evening on 12/30/2011. Needless to say I was very happy with the service and will continue to use Long Beach Heating and Air.
Description of Work: On 12/13/2011 LBHA performed the yearly maintenance on my AC/Heating units. On 12/30/2011 LBHA installed a new Furnace unit.

Overall, my experience with them was excellent. The price was fine. The person that came out seemed to know what he was doing, and I was pleased with the service. He was very professional and responsive. He was here before I was here and waited 15 minutes for me to show up.

They came out and found the problem to be fixable but it's an old unit and their recommendation was to replace it. We agreed upon a contract and signed it on 12/8/11. The contract said "installation within 3-5 days". The installation date that was scheduled was for 12/14/11. They were ready to install it but the hole wasn't big enough for them to fit the appliance in and that some of the duct work that was needed wasn't compatible with the unit I had picked out. They came up with a different plan and a different unit. We set up another appointment for 12/16/11. They didn't call or come that day. Saturday rolls around and my tenant called and said there was a power surge that night and that the heating unit was working. I then called and canceled the whole thing. The heating unit has worked fine since then. This company made a lot of promises that were unkept.
Description of Work: The heat was out in one of my rental homes.

The job went very well and in a timely manner at a fair and decent price.
Description of Work: I called Long Beach Heating and Air and the next day they arrived, not only in a timely manner but early. Shawn was the technician and was very friendly and professional in his manner. The problem was my wall heater was not turning on when the thermostat was indicating it should be. The problem was more of connectivity issue than anything else but I have little doubt other company's would have capitalized on the situation, this company did not. The problem was addressed quickly and the heaters have been operating fine ever sense. Simple put, a great company and staff that I would highly recommend.

I called Long Beach Heating & Air Conditioning two weeks in advance and made an appt for them to come service my residential HVAC system. I called them the day before to confirm. I left work about an hour early to meet their technician at the scheduled time. He never showed up, never called. It was after 5pm, so I called them the next day. Their dispatcher was very apologetic, but just tried to schedule a new time for me the very next day. I couldn't take more time off work the next day. I asked to speak with a manager, and the dispatcher said she'd have one call me. They never called. The dispatcher did call later in the day to say that the manager had me on his list and would call by the end of the day. They never did. It's a week later and still no call. Seems like a company that isn't very customer service oriented and its managers don't set a good example. I would be wary of them.

Our experience with LB Heating and Air was wonderful. Tom, the owner, came out to give us an estimate and evaluate what work needed to be done. While he could have easily told us we needed to replace our entire air conditioning unit now, he broke down the work into what was absolutely necessary to get our unit functional and what we could wait on. We decided to replace our non-functioning furnace with a high efficiency model, replace all duct work, and install a new vent to maximize air flow in an addition of the house. Everything was really easy to set up, we had the benefits of 2 crews show up to do the work. They finished up all in one day. We had a couple issues after the installation where the air was not cool if the A/C turned on for a second cycle. I called the company and they took care of it right away. LB Air came out and sent their most senior technician and discovered that it was the old compressor that we opted not to replace that was causing the issue. A simple replacement of a starter part fixed the issue and bought us a little more time until we need to replace the compressor. When we replace the compressor, we will definitely be calling on LB Heating and Air again for that work. We have recommended their work to anyone who needs work done.
Description of Work: We purchased a new high efficiency furnace, replaced all duct work, installed a new vent, and new thermostat.

The woman on the phone that took my info was very friendly. I told her I found their info on Angie's List. She said I would receive contact from their staff, Tom W. To date, I still have not heard back from them. I never really understand companies that don't have a system in place for professional follow up. I realize there are times when things fall through the cracks, however, for as high as the ratings are, I was disappointed and will be going elsewhere.

James arrived on time and was very professional. He knew immediately upon looking at my furnace and what the problem was. I also asked him to replace another part of which I has been told by the gas company should be done. I was very happy with him and his company.

Had a great experience with Long Beach Heating & Air, beginning with our contact Desiree Manard, who provided amazing customer service and attention to detail. She worked with us on price and was accommodating on scheduling the install, considering it's their peak season right now. The men who installed the units were at the home for the better part of the day; they were very professional and made sure to clean up after they'd finished. Great experience overall!

I thought 60.00 was reasonable for a service call (they gave me an Angie's list discount of $10). I also thought the technician was honest: It was just a loose wire, which he fixed, and didn't try to charge me for anything else. I had to wait a few days for someone to come out. They were very busy after the last heat spell.
Description of Work: Air Conditioner wasn't working. Technician found the cause, a loose wire in the attic.

Good experience. I am planning a kitchen remodel and will definitely call them when it comes time to re-do the plumbing.
Description of Work: I was not getting any cold air whatsoever from my a/c system. Called LBHA and they came out at my convenience and performed a total inspection of my HVAC , ducting, as well as a pressure test to ensure the condenser/compressor was in good working condition. The unit was in good working order so the fix was 10 lbs of Freon. Only surprise was the cost per lb for Freon. ($40/lb). Very pleasant receptionist when I called and nice and knowledgeable technician who came to the house.

I hadn't used my air in quite awhile, so when I turned it on, everything was working, but it didn't seem to be cool enough air coming out of the vents. I called Long Beach Heating & Air. The lady that answered the phone was very nice and helpful. I told her everything was working, but I needed a tune up. I had an appt two days later. The technician was here right on time, was very professional and did an excellent job. Thank goodness the only problem was dirty filters, and the freon was low. I also signed up for a plan to have the furnace checked in Winter, and have the Air checked again next summer. Feels good to be ahead of the game.

I liked them a lot. Their customer service was very nice. They were very good, very efficient and knowledgeable. They gave me a quote for a new furnace and air conditioning. I decided not to do that but they were very nice. The person that came out was very nice. I thought of using them because when I called, the lady who answered the phone was just very accommodating, I don’t know, I just got a good feeling about them. I would use them again in the future.

We received a coupon in the mail for a $40 duct cleaning from a not to be named HVAC company. The company came to our house and said that they couldn't do the duct cleaning and recommended we change all of our air ducts. Of course we were skeptical so we decided to call a few other companies to get 2nd opinions. I emailed Desiree at Long Beach Heating and Air and she responded right away. We set up an appointment for a quote and a few days later Jim came to our house to check everything out. During this meeting Jim got our heater to work and even fixed and sealed our furnace vent pipe in the attic. He checked everything out and recommended what we needed to get our HVAC system working safely. He didn't try to sell us unnecessary work. Jim came with another co-worker about a month later and performed all the necessary work. They worked very diligently and finished the job without problem. Thanks Long Beach Heating and Air! I will definitely be using you again for my future HVAC needs.
Description of Work: Long Beach Heating and Air installed a bath exhaust fan, made corrections to low voltage @ ac unit, fixed vent pipe in attic, insulated old ducting where existing insulation was falling apart, raised up furnace in attic, cleaned up and removed of debris in attic and changed filter.

We got multiple bids on the price and they came in at a good price close to another company. We choose them because of the price and because they took the time to respond to the Angie list comments online. We also had a technician come out up front to assess the heaters and we were pleased with the what he had to say and his attitude. The installers did a very good job and were careful to not dirty the carpeting.
