My front yard had over 20 years over-growth & needed to be cleaned up with some new fresh plantings. Kathy came out, we walked around the yard & I told her the things I like about the yard & things I don't like, all the while she's jotting down notes & taking pictures. A week later, Kathy and her crew were at my house and did the job efficiently and professionally. 3 trees removed due to disease, 2 new trees planted. All of the old removed, and lots and LOTS of new flowers and shrubs planted. They also used recycled chunks of concrete to make it look like flagstone & planted groundcover in between them with an underground dripper system to water everything, so now I don't have water spraying everywhere ! I absolutely LOVE my new garden. I would highly recommend Alford's to anyone who wants it done right !

Kathy came over took notes on the things we wanted to do with the backyard, She had lots of ideas and was great on giving me help in figuring out what to do and how to go about it. Her input was very welcome and helpful in shaping how the yard would ultimately look. I went to meet her at her business, to get a better idea on the plants she suggested to use, and also to go over the plans that she drew up on the new yard. Her overall presentation was beautifully presented, she itemized all the cost so I felt I knew exactly what I was getting for the work that she would do. He crew was great, she got the work done as stated in her schedule and we have been very pleased with the results. We have had her come back over some minor issues and she was good at seeing these things resolved. I would certainly use her again and would recommend her.

They took over for gardeners that had been doing a lousy job. They’re cleaning it up so quickly I can’t believe it. We’re going to keep them. They are show up on time, they’re enthusiastic, and they speak English. I found them because they advertise in my local newspaper.

Kathy was great. She was very professional and responsive. She created a blueprint for the job and described all the plants in detail to us. Some I have to say I was hesitant about, but I'm soooo happy that we trusted her experience because the final product is amazing. The plants she selected are fantastic and better than I imagined. We get tons of compliments from neighbors. It has been several months since the initial installation and I am even happier with the end result, I could have never done this on my own. Worth every penny.

We recently used Alford for landscaping and hardscaping. She specifically tailored the garden design to our needs, and was really easy to work with. They were prompt, and efficient. They were very professional, and didn't leave a mess. We were very happy with Alfords, and would use them again.

I was very pleased with the initial consultations and subsequent installations. I frequently get compliments on the work. Kathy's initial consultation was knowledgeable and professional, combining her expertise with my wishes. Office follow-up was and remains timely and personal. The work crew was industrious, polite, and neat. I would use Alford's again; in fact, they are doing on-going maintenance for me.

Overall, the experience was excellent (A+). Kathy is a true professional and very knowledgeable. She understood what we were looking for and is able to work within all budgets or create a landscape plan that can be completed over time. She had some great ideas and suggestions. I love the English cottage style garden, however, we were looking for something more native, natural and low maintenance. She can do it all! She gave us an estimate of $500 for complete landscape design plans, which is a competitive price. That way, if we were going to do the project or hardscape/softscape in phases we had something to work with and give other contractors. However, Alford's is a one-stop shop and can do everything from irrigation to masonry work. We have been delayed on this project due to other things that have taken priority, but we are still considering hiring this company when we are ready to move forward!

They did a really good job. They showed up on time and cleaned up after themselves very well.

Kathy, her office staff and crew have been absolutely great to work with every step of the way. I absolutely love my new garden! Kathy was very generous with her time, she was patient with me and took time to understand what I wanted for my garden. Her recommendations for plants and design are spot on. Her staff is excellent and I love working with them too. Very hard working and thorough. I have had several crews come to my backyard over the years to try to get rid of the ivy in my of my trees. Kathy's guys did it in one try! Kathy is so fun to work with, so knowledgeable about plants, garden design, the whole thing. I cannot say how much I have enjoyed this process, working with her and her staff, and, most importantly, my new garden! I intend to continue using her for years to come and I highly recommend her!

I interviewed four service providers that had a good experience and she was the best. She was the brightest and I was wowed by her. My wife was wowed by her too when she met her. I have hired her to do the work and I have paid a deposit of $575 for a plan. She would be starting the work this week.

They are excellent. We have continued to used them since the initial large landscape.

Start with a plan-- plant selection was hard for me-- Kathy selected plants that worked in my area and required less water and maintenance. I visited her website and asked for referennces in my neighborhood -- the day I visited the owner of the garden she was having a photoshoot in the garden that Kathy had done. Kathy and her crew really clicked with me and my son -- they asked my wants and wishes and then took (most of them) and worked them into my budget $50,000 and actually came in under what I had planed We visited a nursery and a stone yard so I could select what we wamted. Kathy is extremely knowledgable in plants and blurted out botantical names! but she also knew how the plants would work in my garden. When the crew started I was introduced to all the crew. Each is neat and clean and kept the mess to a minimal. No music or any kind of distraction was allowed on site. We added an additonal area in the garden that wasn't on the plan-- a new contract for the add on was given to me so I knew how much to over the bid I was. after installation was completed Kathy walked though the garden and presented me with a garden care list of how to take care of the garden and what to expect. I dicided to have them also do the maintenance. I visited the gardens they maintain and saw that they still looked good months/years after Alford's English Gardens have installed them

I have a single storey home on a corner lot (highly visible) and am surrounded by 2 storey homes. We have made a concerted effort to try to maintain a pretty front (and back) yard over the years as a result. I have had 3 other Yard companies in the past 16+ yrs at my home. Am not much of a gardener and have no real interest in doing yard work ongoing. I looked for a company that I could turn over ALL yard maintenance work for years who knew what knew what to do, when and how to do it without requiring direction from me nor having to make multiple phone calls so requesting. Until I found Alford's, I was not successful in finding such a company. Kathy, an arborist, came out to initially look at a sickly carrotwood tree in my front yard. Was honest enough to tell me I would be better served having the tree removed as opposed to spending $$$ to try to salvage the tree which in the end wouldn't help. Thought it was quite remarkable a professed "tree person" knew when a tree was not able to be saved and made no attempt to talk me into paying for all kinds of expensive treatments that would not yield a successful result. She gave me a list with photos of 3 trees she thought would suit my front yard and let me choose what I wanted (a pretty crepe myrtle) . It helped there are no city owned trees anywhere in my housing tract so I could remove and replace anything without having the hassle of dealing with the city. I am hoping a sick looking magnolia tree in my back yard can be saved- she said she thought it could with proper care so we shall see. No additional $ outlay required for same either. Irrigation problem areas were also identified. Didn't know a prev Yard company had diverted a water line away from one area to serve another- no wonder nothing survived in that one area! I was assured Alford's came as far east to where I live in No Orange County from its Signal Hill base on a weekly basis for maintenance. Was also assured Alford's would only use a lawn mover that exclusively cut only Marathon II grass so as not to cross contaminate my grass with weeds, bugs and other "gunk" from other people's lawns. While the monthly fee is more than what I had been paying I can rest easier knowing my yard, front and back, is in capable hands and that I can be away from my home and know the exterior will be taken care of. In the end, you get what you pay for. Her crew worked tirelessly and did everything in 1+ day, returning the next day to replace a sprinkler head that had broken when merely touched. All spoke English which was a big relief re: communicating questions etc, were very polite and got the job done without "disappearing" to go work on another job or simply take off leaving things undone. I met the Supr who said she would be by monthly to do a walk-through to make sure everything was being taken care of properly. Office staff a bit disorganized but were fairly prompt in calling back or correcting something that included things such as conveying info/questions/requests to Kathy and getting estimates via Email for all work proposed to me . Alford's did a lovely job in a timely manner and I am most pleased with how everything looks! I leave it in Alford's hands to keep it well tended and alive, something I am not knowledgable enough to do nor able to do myself.

Kathy's crew arrived at my home promptly and did not hesitate to begin working. Her crew did a superb job on my trees. They removed excess and dead branches. Her men were very kind and helpful. They even answered my silly uneccessary questions. Kathy's follow-up on the progress and completion of my yard surpassed my expectations. For once, I found a company that I could rely on. Thank you Kathy Alford and company.

Alford's English Gardens took out a tree in my front yard, put in a sprinkler system, and put in native water friendly plants to California. In my back yard they put in a patio, a sprinkler system, and a garden. They even came back and replaced some plants that died. I am going to use them again.
