AAA Calvert Electrical, Heating & Air Conditioning

Description of Work: Our heater was not working and the temperature in the house was getting very cold. It was January 31st (New Year's Eve) and we were hoping to find a repair person before the end of the day. We called AAA Calvert and the lady that answered the phone was very pleasant and empathetic. She indicated that her crew was probably going to stop work early but she would do what she could to try and get a repairman to the house. She was true to her word and we had a repairman at the house within a few hours of our call. The repairman was very friendly and pleasant and told us that it was our thermostat that was not working. He offered us different thermostats with different prices. He was very knowledgeable and had the new thermostat installed very quickly.

Description of Work: Called for a dead circuit and A/C-Furnace assessment. TJ arrived a little later than I expected, but got right to work. Took time to listen to work that I had already tried. Took plates off the wall and inspected all wiring inside. Visualized where circuits where coming from and going. Quickly realized that the problem was with a broken neutral connection somewhere in the house. Traced circuits throughout the house to determine that it must be in a junction box under the kitchen. Crawled under the house, found the junction box and discovered the problem - a corroded 4-wire connection. Replaced the connector and the dead circuit worked!! While tracing wires, discovered a loose connection that was actually smoldering. Repaired that quickly. I'm a "do-it-yourselfer" and try to fix most problems myself, but this one had me so stumped, I had to call in an expert. TJ let me assist him throughout the entire visit. I learned a lot about my house wiring that I did not know before. After the electrical problem was fixed, he then turned his attention to my Furnace and A/C unit. We recently bought the house "as is" from a foreclosure and we couldn't test either the furnace or AC because the thermostat was missing (I guess I could have bought one, hooked it up and just "tried it" myself, but I was nervous about firing it off without someone assessing its condition first.) TJ entered the attic and visually inspected the ducting and the furnace unit. All appeared in "functional order" so he just connected two of the thermostat wires together and the furnace started to work! He then turned his attention to the A/C unit. The compressor/fan unit on the outside of the house looked pretty beat up and I thought it wouldn't work. He connected three of the thermostat wires (hot, fan and AC) and nothing happened. He pulled the fuse panel out and discovered that one of the two fuses was blown. He replaced the bad fuse. We threw the breaker again and the entire unit stated to work! We were both plesantly surprised. The air wasn't coming out as cool as it should, so TJ suspected it needed a coolant charge, but said not to do that until next June or July. He also said it may have leaks and if the new charge doesn't last very long, they will add some dye to the coolant to find the leak. He then worked up the bill and departed.

Description of Work: A great experience - quick, professional, good price, right on time during a holiday weekend. I had no heat in my home 3 days before Christmas. A 2-week cold spell in Long Beach and I awoke to a 53-degree house every day. City of LB appt. would be 7 days out, and during my work hours. I called AAA Calvert today, late morning, with no expectations due to the holiday weekend. They got back to me ASAP and by this afternoon my furnace was working. Their technician Tom was friendly, patient and helpful, answering all of my questions about the furnace and thermostat. Very professional. My house is 86 years old, floor furnace is easily 60-70 years old. Recent floor refinishing had left lots of dust and debris in the furnace vent, along with a pilot light shut off but never re-lit by the flooring company. Tom cleaned everything, re-lit the pilot and walked me through the proper running and maintenance of my furnace. I feel lucky to have called AAA Calvert and would definitely recommend them.

Description of Work: A delight! From the very first contact (Laurie) my experience with AAA Calvert was nothing short of wonderful. Honest..honest..honest!!! The two young men who came out, rite on time, were polite and very professional. They quickly assessed the problems and honestly fixed them. They were quick and did I say honest? Loved these guys and my entire experience and have found an electrician for life!

Description of Work: We called for service and the office was really responsive. After our old heater was inspected we found out it could not be repaired. They installed a new heater and thermastat.

Description of Work: Tom and his assistant were very nice, they took the whole thing apart, tested every part on the heater and was able to make it work. They even vacuumed the unit. Very courteous and very professional. Tom gave me his card and told me to please call him if the heater stops working again. They put everything back. He also explained about a part that may have been the problem and he corrected as well. The heater is now working great! Thank you Tom and I am sorry, do not remember his assistant name but he was great too!

Description of Work: It was a pleasure dealing with AAA Calvert. Our first experience was having Tom service our air conditioner. They were very courteous on the phone and were on time the day of the appointment. The air conditioning unit was serviced in a timely manner and his work was very professional. The second time we used their services was ro replace two ceiling fans and to do some rewiring in a rental we own. The experience was the same. Neat courteous and the work done was first rate. Description of Work: We had an outlet installed in the center (i.e., not near a wall) of a riser just above the floor in our bedroom. The electrician had to go from the common wall between the kitchen and the bedroom, under the riser, to the spot where we wanted the outlet.

Description of Work: My furnace only worked off & on for several years. This repairman found that it only needed to have the flame sensor cleaned. After he took care of that, my furnace has worked perfectly ever since.

Description of Work: Disconnected the fan on the clean air exchanger at my request. It needed replacing and are very expensive to replace. It is not a necessary part for my A/C and Heating Unit.

Description of Work: I will always use these people for electrical and lighting issues. I had bad wiring in receptacles and switches, a bad dimmer, an exterior light wired in with two interior lights, an outlet that shocked me and several other issues. Eddie and his partner diagnosed and repaired everything at a most reasonable cost. They were prompt, professional and cleaned up when they were finished.
