AAA Calvert Electrical, Heating & Air Conditioning

The team was on-time, took care of all the details with the city AND my electric utility company. Install was beautiful. The entire team, office, owner, workers were extremely professional. I was extremely happy with the installation and overall service. These are go to guys for electric vehicle charging station installations! Update: This review is for work that was done in 2013. I can separate them into two different jobs, 1) the installation for an electric vehicle charger and 2) the installation of a ceiling fan and and whole house fan. I have recently gone up to review my attic with an HVAC installer and was embarrassed by the work performed by AAA Calvert. I will say that the office staff and the owner are very kind, seem extremely honest and believe they are good hard working people that intend to provide a good service to their customer. On job number 1, I cannot say I have crawled around under the house to check the work myself but after seeing my attic I am inclined to soon. On job number 2, I had to have them come back to fix some of the work they performed. The work was quoted as a new circuit but instead they tied into an existing circuit, something I specifically asked them not to do. The owner apologized and sent them back to fix it on a weekend. I am not sure if the two electricians were required to do the work on their own time since they clearly did not follow the instructions of the owner or but here is what I found, 6 Coors empty beer cans left in my attic; the Romex was draped diagonally across the attic with zero fasteners (not one). The connections look okay and all junctions are properly in there j-boxes but there was little thought spent in cleanliness and maintainability. They did get the fans installed and electrons going to/from the right places but I am not happy or impressed with the quality of work or professionalism of the individuals that performed the work. This is especially disappointing given I know for certain the office staff seems to work hard and provide a very professional experience. The owner and the office staff were very apologetic after the first mistake but I simply do not even want to deal with them after this. I hope I am a unique case, clearly there are others very happy with the work they received. I probably would be too if I never went to look for myself.

I could tell almost immediately that Tom was very knowledgeable in his trade and trusted him almost immediately. He quickly assessed the status of all 5 units on my building and was able to provide me a list of needed repairs. I could tell that he is very cost conscious and provided me a very fair estimate for his work. I'm going to continue with a maintenance air conditioning maintenance schedule with Tom. He is a great HVAC guy and I would high recommend him to anyone.

The project went very well. The contract was offered to me and I signed it. They showed up at the time they said they would. They were very clean and professional about the job. They got everything done in one day. Also, a few weeks before they came to my house to clean up my old heater and making it functional again. it was great. I would call them again when I need service.

Receptionist was very friendly and worked hard to fit us in schedule. Technician Tom was friendly and professional and fixed our problem very quickly. Definitely recommend!

Worked quickly and efficiently.

This was my first time using them. I called them at about 10 am to report my central air conditioning would go on but no air was coming out of the vents. They were very professional over the phone and Lauri said she would see if the technician had time to come by today. She called right back and said Tom Gardner would come by between 12 noon and 2 pm to check it out. Tom showed up on schedule with his assistant. They checked it out and he said it was the blower relay, gave me an estimate, then proceeded to repair it. After the repair, he came inside to check whether all the vents were working and providing cool air. They asked if I had a filter and then changed it too. Everyone at AAA Calvert was professional, provided excellent customer service, quality repair work, and overall it was an outstanding experience. I highly recommend that you use them.

Excellent Service and quality was wonderful. We live in an old house with knob and tube wiring. AAA Calvert inspected all the wiring and system. Fixed all spliced wires, etc and tested every switch, outlet and fixture in the house. We added many additional outlets and fixtures. They were professional, nice and easy to get a hold of. Thanks. Work was done quickly and well. Parts had to be purchased.

The HVAC Technician, Tom Gardner, came out to do an estimate. He asked a lot of questions, did a thourogh inspection, discussed what we wanted and the options available. His office got back to us the next day with a written estimate. We had another estimate from our normal service company that was over 50% higher. We signed the estimate and set a start date. They indicated that the work would normally take 2 days but they would plan for 2 1/2 days to make sure that they had everything done right. The showed up on time, were very professional and did a quality job. They were nearly finished in 2 days and only required a few hours on the third day. They protected the floors and cleaned up every day. A very nice crew and they did a great job. We would highly recommend them.

I have been looking for a contractor like this for a long time. I wanted someone I could call up for the little jobs, but also depend on for the big ones. I found both in AAA Calvert. My house was built in the 1940s, with some of the original wiring. The wiring is (mostly) still sound, and we had previously had the service upgraded, but adding something like a programmable switch to the old wiring was completely beyond me (just too many extra wires I had no idea what to do with). TJ came out and made it work! He was pleasant, professional, and listened to my concerns. Price was reasonable, too. After that, I rehired the company to bring the old wiring that ran (exposed) across my early 1950s vaulted ceiling (no crawl space) family room into the 21st century. AAA Calvert gave me what I thought was a fair price, were early the morning the work was to start, and the crew was professional and friendly. As it turns out, the work was much more difficult than expected. The crew worked diligently and HARD. About 2 pm, Lauri came out to the site to assess the progress of the work (as they probably had to rearrange the schedule since MY work was taking so long). At 3 pm, almost at the end of the work day, another crew member showed up to help (obviously sent from another job). The entire crew labored until well after dark, with flashlights, until the work was essentially complete and I could turn my lights on again. I was seriously impressed! And the price remained reasonable and well inside the bounds of the estimate! One member of the crew had to return a day or two later to add one little-bitty cap to the end of the casing they used (they couldn't find this small little part in the dark) at no charge. So, I hired them a third time to put a GFI on an outlet on the patio! Seriously, this is the first review I have ever written for Angie's List, but I am no stranger to contractors or contracts. I would hire them again in a New York minute! They were competent, professional, and reasonable priced. Moreover, they were personable, listened to the customer's needs, worked hard, and worked with the customer to provide a solution.

When he came out, he ran into some problems. There was no dryer vent. He was very nice and searched around. He explained my options. The service was good. He was willing to go the extra mile and even climbed on the roof searching for things. His service was fantastic.

He was on time, clean, and neat. The service was very good. He was pleasant. He did the job. I recommend them to two of my clients and they were also pleased with the service. They answer the phone and they get back to you. They do what they say they are going to do, in the schedule they say they are going to do it in. While working with my clients, they told us to send over their inspection report. They use the electrical part of the inspection report to give an estimate for the work. They are extremely helpful and efficient. All and all, they are knowledgeable and I would highly recommend their service. The price is fair and the estimates are thorough. They are all very clever, smart, and more responsive than the rest. Their price is fair.

Everything was fine. They were polite, respectful, and on time. I felt he was honest in his assessment of our old furnace.

Learned that the condenser was overcharging a little, but it was nothing to worry about. Everything was OK. Also got quote if I wanted to run a larger supply duct to back bedroom which is hotter that the other rooms. Tom Gardner was very good. He was very friendly and answered all my questions. Most of all, didn't try and use the opportunity to sell me things I didn't need, as other AC companies have tried to do in the past. Good company.

We've called on AAA Calvert three times for electrical services and we won't call anyone else! The first time was when we were having the house re-piped and needed electrical work when we moved the washer and dryer into the house from the garage. They coordinated smoothly with the plumber so no time was wasted. The second time was kind of an emergency, when we realized the day before new carpet was to be installed that we also needed a new electrical outlet in an area where there had never been one. In spite of being very busy, Lauri managed to fit us in. The most recent work was for a new light fixture at the back of our garage, with the switch inside the kitchen, along with conduit installed in the yard for a fountain and jacuzzi we'll be putting in as we work on landscaping the backyard. AAA Calvert is a reliable, honest company that does quality work at a reasonable price. Lauri in the office will do all she can to get your work done, and the guys follow through. Don't even bother calling anyone else!

My heating/cooling thermostat went "blank" right after I set it to cool the house. The Honeywell thermostat was 8 years old, so suspecting a thermostat failure I replaced it. The new thermostat's, also a Honeywell, display worked fine but no heat or cooling. I reinstalled my old thermostate and sceratched my head. It must be a blown fuse, but where? I contacted AAA Calvert after reading the reviews on Angies List. Well, I just wish all repair experiences could have gone as well as mine. Tom arrived slightly before the scheduled time and went right to work, The fuse for the thermostat circuit in the furnace was blown. He replaced the fuse and I had a display on the thermostat! We set the thermostat cooling and waited. In about ten seconds, the display vanished! No cool air, or air of any kind for that matter. Now things got interesting. There was a short in the wiring to the outside air conditioning unit. It was late in the day so Tom said he would be back first thing Monday morning. We would either have to go under the house or run a new line. Neither option seemed to be fun. The access to under our house is in a closet, which of course was full of "stuff." house.TJ and his assistant Adam arrived as scheduled and began to plan their attack. Well, in a word, the under the house option turned out to be a "no go" - not enough room to get from the access hole to the area of concern. Next idea was check out the wiring and perhaps finds the short in an accessible part of the wire. Bingo. We found the short about two feet into the crawl space. Clip and splice and we have connections. Re-hookup the wiring and it's operational. Now all I have to do is figure out a way to relocate the raccoon that we found living under the house. In summary. Arrived on time, knew what he was doing, personable, easy to communicate with. Great office staff. Will call them again for any service needs.

The service rep was very helpful on the phone. She sent her man out and he was friendly and on time. He gave us a thorough explanation of what was causing our heater not to work. When the problem persisted a few days later (as he said it might) we called AAA Calvert to please come again with a new valve that matched the one we needed replacing. The same guy returned with the replacement part in question and was able to get the job done in less than an hour. We were only charged for the cost of the part on the return visit. Since then, we haven't had a problem with our heating system, but if we do, we will not hesitate to contact AAA Calvert.

Lauri, TJ, and their crew were exemplary throughout our relationship. Lauri scheduled the first visit, then the day before phoned to confirmed, then had TJ phone to confirm that he was on his way the morning of the first visit. That set the marvelous tone for what was coming. We had some issues with how best to replace to dead radiant heat. TJ and his AC guy gave us detailed alternatives, explaining thoroughly the ups and downs of each alternative. Though one alternative would have brought the company a contract 4 times what we ultimately did, TJ steered us away from it to the less costly but more reasonable solution. Then came the fun part. The first units that were received were visibly damaged. TJ and Lauri found that unacceptable, despite the distributor and manufacturer taking the attitude that the units would "probably work fine". Lauri went to the top and dissatisfied with the quality control, professionalism and lack of customer care. she rejected them. Then the search for new units, which Lauri and TJ conducted exhaustively until they found what would pass their very high standards of acceptability. TJ and the crew were timely, efficient, professional, and a pleasure to have around. Though it took a long time, we have excellent units that are aesthetically pleasing. AAA Calvert was highly professional, care deeply about their customers, do high quality work and at reasonable and competitive prices. Whatever may be your heating/ac or electrical needs, your first and only stop is with Lauri and TJ's company. They are hands down the best I've dealt with in 35+ years of owning a home.

Prior to our first appointment, we called quite a few companies for information regarding fixing our HVAC. The customer service we received over the phone at AAA Calvert was top notch. I wish I could remember who it was who my mom spoke to at the company (she was helping us with the search) but the woman she spoke to was gracious and very helpful...she received rave reviews from my mom! We decided to go with AAA Calvert and were not dissapointed. Tom came out for our appointment in November to fix the HVAC. He was great! He was friendly and professional and went out of his way to explain what was wrong with the AC in layman's terms. He fixed it quickly and also discovered that we had some corrosion on the rooftop platform that housed our HVAC. He recommended replacing it and gave us an estimate for his company to do the work. (At no point, though, did it feel like a sales pitch, in fact, he gave us enough info that we could have gone elsewhere with no problem.) Our 2nd appointment was just as satisfactory. We did go ahead and have the rooftop platform repaired by AAA Calvert and the two gentlemen that came out (I don't have their names anymore) were great, too! We would use AAA Calvert again for sure!!

o From the answer of the phone to the finished work, this company is an "A" company. The first call was answered quickly, the representative listened and understood what my problem was and set a date and time when the repairman would appear at my home - also gave me his name. The appt was for a time range and he was here at the beginning of the time range. Very professionally assessed the problem and quickly repaired it with a part on his truck, at a very very reasonable rate. (PS - they have a 10% coupon on Angies List) When I asked about my heat/air unit he provided information on type, age, life span, and condition. When asked he scheduled a revisit at the beginning of summer to review the units performance. I will set an annual appointment to make sure the unit stays in good condition. When asked he also gave me the name of a professional plumbing firm in the area - which I will also arrange an annual check up. I will use this firm again and recommend to others. We hired this local contractor after the assigned contractor from our insurance company claimed our gas lines needed to be moved which wud cost us $970. we called aaa calvert on 08jan and on the same day they came to our house to check the floor heater. they tried to fix on 11jan but couldn't access the crawlspace. heater was fixed on 14jan and now we are toasty warm. they even provided warranty details so we can try to get our insurance company to cover the out-of-network expense. honest and prompt service and wud highly recommend.
