Appointment process was easy, rep showed up in time. Rep seemed disinterested in the project. Gave me an estimate same day for the bathroom consisting of a single price hand written on the back of his business card with no detail or indication of any follow up detail of what is included. He refused to give any estimate for the garage remodel saying he didn't want to spend the time to measure until the plans were approved by the city. I think he was arrogant and misogynistic.

Planning: Very smooth. We knew our high level goals and Avi told us what our options were. Avi provided a good sense of the cost and the pros/cons for our decisions. Heading to a showroom to look at materials was fun and we found things we really liked. We were given recommendations on where to do additional shopping and they would pick up materials with little effort on us. Schedule: We were able to start right away and except for a couple of issues with a supplier were mostly on time. Communication: Avi & Ferdy did a fantastic job of staying in close contact. In the case of delays we knew what was going on and what was being worked on next. Quality of Work: We're very happy with the end result. I can be a very picky person and I felt like every single little thing got taken care of. If there was an alignment issue or imperfection it would get taken care of. The materials used were high quality and everything feels solid and well built. After months of work we're very happy with how our project turned out. There's no doubt we're relieved to be done since home renovations can be tough, but just the other day we chatted about what we'd work on next. and if we do I'd definitely call So Cal Builders & Design.

We met with David to get an estimate on some work. He was prompt to our scheduled appointment, and he was friendly and professional to work with. He did his best to provide us a good price, which we really appreciated. We are not yet at the getting work done phase so we have not yet had services performed outside of pricing the project.

Individual did not seem very interested in the work (maybe it was because he could read I wasn't interested in spending a lot of money). Product designs were delivered.

Amazingly well. Avi is very knowledgeable, has a great eye, is courteous & responsive.

Consultant spent a lot of time with us coming up with several design ideas then came back a second time to show us the 3-D pictures and discuss the cost if we had his company do the construction. He gave us a written estimate. We were very happy with our interaction.

We'll be looking at one of this contractor's projects-in-process next week. Having the drawings is very helpful to discussions of different ideas. Avi is easy to talk to, flexible about meeting times, and very willing to work with our ideas.

I have hired contractors in the past with bad experience and never thought I would take the time to evaluate and write a review for anyone. However, my experience with So Cal Builders & Design (Avi) was extraordinary. From the start he was on time and was very thorough in explaining what needed to be done (roof project). He never tried to over sell me. He did exactly what he said from start to finish. He had excellent staff who was courteous, on time and clean up well. I would recommend this company to anyone who may have been let down before as I have with others. Excellent work with great price! Thank you again Avi!

Quality of Work - We're very happy with the quality of the work. Also towards the end of the project they were committed to getting every detail & polish point right Communication - This is where SoCal really stands out. Avi and his team did a great job. We have used quite a few contractors for various other jobs and his team was the most efficient. At the end of the day they followed through with all their commitments and were even able to adjust quickly when certain things didn't go as planned (not their fault). i.e. the plans were drawn up incorrectly by another firm but Avi was able to come up with a good solution and still hit his deadline. I would definitely use his team for future jobs, Lastly, he may not be the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Sometimes a cheaper quote comes with a lot of headaches and in the end with all the bait and switch can turn out to be even more expensive.

Price was good. Very open communication and responsiveness. Everything looks beautiful and overall I am very happy with the results.

[The Big Picture] So Cal Builders helped transform our backyard into a functional and more aesthetically pleasing space that matched most of my family's needs, planning, and style preferences. Professional standards and responsiveness was both impressive and disappointing, and the project took much longer than expected. [Commendations] The initial consultation was positive. Avi determined our backyard needs and preferences, considering our desire for a current usable space that could still accommodate a future home add-on. He returned with a 3D design and an estimate that was higher than other quotes. However, we were confident that So Cal would be the better business for the job. Whenever we had a question or concern, Avi was only a text away; his response time was prompt and oftentimes immediate. So Cal Builders was accommodating in a number of ways. They were flexible with our pets in the backyard. They provided some upgrades at no cost after some unanticipated aesthetic or functional issues (e.g., siding for the deck, glass beads for the fire pit). We were most impressed with the craftsmanship of the paving crew, who worked tirelessly to cut and install the pavers in a herringbone design. [Needed Improvements] The six-week project took six months to complete. Some factors that contributed to the delay: [Sense of Urgency] Once the work failed initial inspection, it seemed as if the contractor elongated the project on their own timeline. [Proximity] Although the business is based in Sherman Oaks--at the opposite end of L.A. County--the contractor was aware of the distance challenges and accepted the job. During the second-half of the project, there were several occasions when workers would not show up as scheduled due to the commute or because they were working too late on other projects. It was typical that work would be done 1-2 days a week; we would then need to wait until the following week for the work to continue. [Inconsistent Quality Control] Some issues described below were corrected but required our reminders or notices to bring the matter to So Cal Builders' attention. I believe adhering to basic professional standards would have prevented these annoyances: [Debris and Trash] We are still finding and removing junk left behind from the project that should have been cleared initially: fast food cups, discarded construction materials, old parts. [Irrigation Pipes] Lines were severed but not repaired. I came home to a flooded backyard after a valve was not repaired correctly. [Fire Pit] So Cal Builders constructed a fire pit that has been problematic. Despite their efforts, the ignitor still does not function, the pit does not generate sufficient heat, and a paint touch-up is still needed after their last attempted repair.

It was a great experience, Avi was available over the phone or in person every time i needed him. I appreciate his patience and willingness to work with me, he is the most honest contractor and true to his word i ever worked with. So Cal Builders and design did a great job on my bathroom remodel. The project took a little bit longer then expected, due to city inspector schedule.

Beautiful Roofing Experience We needed a roof before El Nino was to start this year (2016). So we went with So Cal Design and Builders (Aviad Goverman). The roofers started removing the old roof on February 3, 2016, everything went very good and everybody was very professional. Main roofers were Omar and Efron, they were great. On February 17, 2016, it rained pretty hard, but no El Nino. They had most of the felt and shingles already on the roof before it rained. The next day the roofers returned to finish putting on the felt paper, but I was concerned the felt paper got wet. Even though I read a lot of reviews saying that it would be okay, as long as it had enough time to dry, which it did. But I still wasn’t happy with the wet felt, so Aviad had them remove all of the felt which was a lot and replace every sheet. I’m sure that might have been an extra expense but we were not charged any additional money. The roofers replaced all of our fascia boards, felt paper, damaged plywood on the roof and painted all of the fascia boards. It took about 3 weeks. Great Job! So, with all of that said we never got an El Nino, but the roofers did a wonderful job and my roof looks beautiful. Also, the inspector said that he learned a couple of things from our roofers. The gentleman who called was nice enough, however when the estimator arrived, he seemed condescending and smug. I told him I had 2 properties that would need work, but this first job needed care first. I asked for an estimate and he said he could not provide one on the spot and that it would take 4 days to get me one. I never received a thing. unprofessional.

Avi came to my house to give me an estimate for a deck remodel. We were very happy with his professionalism, responsiveness, and the proposal he made came with really nice 3D computer mock-ups of what the project would look like. He obviously listened to what we wanted and made a plan that addressed all of our desires. I would definitely recommend a consultation. (This was very recently and we have not done the project yet).

The work crews were timely. All of the work was accomplished on deadline. What I liked most was Avi's responsiveness to my questions and ideas. We met with a couple other contractors that were more interested in doing what they wanted than to listening to what we wanted.
