Description of Work: Dean and his company were exceptional from start to finish. His experience in the business and his extreme professional, yet personable demeanor, as well as his competitive prices, influenced my decision to request his assistance to install a new air conditioning unit. All of his employees were very diligent workers and very helpful in explaining the different functions of my new thermostat. My air conditioning system works wonderfully. I am confident that I made a great choice, and have since recommended Kilowatt to several neighbors. Kilowatt has earned a customer for life.

Description of Work: Service guy assessed the problem, low coolant, gave me options of filling it, knowing it would eventually leak out again, or spend $1,000.+ finding the leak itself which would involve opening walls on 2 floors of the house as the A/C is on the roof as the system/coils are 2 floors below in my garage. (I refilled it). 2-3 days later the office called to sell me a "service plan" that I could do myself, and you would still have to pay for any services above changing filters and testing. You would get a slight discount with the "plan", but the plan itself seemed pricey.

Description of Work: Extraordinary service. On time. On budget. Friendly. Excellent workmanship. The owner, Dean Gilford redesigned the AC routing resulting in less cost and more efficient air delivery. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Description of Work: The thought of having 30 hours of work being done in your home would make anyone cringe; the stinky guy whose pants never stay up, never on time, always forgetting a part, leaving a mess and fingerprints everywhere, a little while later it breaks again AND being quoted one price but having to pay so much more. |This was not my experience with Kilowatt AC. |After researching many companies and getting outrageous quotes I finally found Kilowatt and spoke to Ellie on a Friday afternoon. I explained my AC wasn't getting cold, the heat did not work and was told the "thing" that converts the AC to heat needed to be replaced. |I had an appointment with Eric Monday morning. |My initial appointment was diagnostic, Eric went over my options and pricing. He did not try to upsell to a more expensive system, one I didn't need or make me feel as if I didn't have options. |Paraphrasing one of Kilowatt's policies, they will not put a "bandaid" on a system in order to service it. My system was too far gone for them to just do maintenance work because in the end it would unsafe for me and ultimately cause major damage to my condo. During his inspection I saw many corroded parts and rusted areas that I knew would not be able to be fixed without replacing an entire part. Oil was pooled around one of the badly corroded areas. |I didnt realize the person I had been using wasn't really taking care of me. Although this policy may seem harsh to some, it actually protects me, Kilowatt and is financially sound. I honestly don't think other companies would be that honest or policies similar to this. |I decided rather than replacing the rusted, corroded, 20+ yr old electrical components which eventually would be overpowered by the new parts, a new system was my best option. Eric spoke with the owner Dean and worked out a great price as I needed an entire new system and overhaul. |Eric and Jose were not only respectful to me but also my home (helping move and protect paintings, artwork, sculptures, etc). Before leaving each day they cleaned vacuumed (even showed me how to put on the various attachments to my vacuum), moved things back, swept, etc. |As I am a curios person, Eric and Jose talked me through what they were doing, answered my questions, explained and showed me problems, gave suggestions and waited for me as I climbed into the crawl space to look. |I judge companies by my initial instincts, then their integrity, honesty, kindness, respect towards me and the results about a month later. I now have an energy efficient AC heating system that is safe, really quite and will ultimately pay for itself. I am able to make my home freezing cold, very hot and anywhere in between. |Kilowatt is a company I respect, appreciate and trust. Thank you Eric and Jose for going out of your way to tackle such a job, even staying late on Christmas Eve. |Thank you for breaking the stereotype of the typical "oh no, a 3 day service job", there is not a fingerprint in sight. |

Description of Work: This was a service call to check to make sure my HVAC unit was working properly. They were very professional and offered to allow me to look at the unit on the roof, which I liked. The service rep was nice and he was very professional, but I felt they tried to oversell a bit. I was told the "warranty" on my unit would be expiring soon so I might want to get a new unit. Well, we all know the warranty on a TV, automobile and many other items expire, which does not mean the item will soon stop functioning. When I said I just wanted the service, I was told by the service rep that if I had said I wanted to buy the new unit, he would have recommended against it. I don't think I should have even been told about it if it wasn't necessary.

Description of Work: Erik was prompt and thorough. He found and fixed a refrigerant line leak, replaced a leaky fan motor and installed a UV light.

Description of Work: I received two new air conditioning and heating units for my home. It was a big job because I have a flat roof -- meaning there's no attic in which to put ducts. The Kilowatt fellows shimmied in the crammed crawl space under my house and put in a dozen or so new ducts. The work was completed on time and the workers were punctual, neat and friendly. It's been over 90 degrees outside my house every day for the past two or three weeks, but inside, it's been a comfy 72.

Description of Work: I was having trouble cooling my big family room so I called Dean Gilford to come by and see if he had some suggestions. He showed up exactly on time. He checked out the situation with his equipment and went through the attic completely. He said that my main problem was that the registers in the family were not the proper ones. There was no charge for all of his trouble shooting and he said that I could buy the proper register vents from him at a nominal cost. This was one of the best experiences I have had with a company and I was so impressed with his honesty. He could have tried to sell me some high priced replacement system, but he did not.

Description of Work: Dean and his guys replaced our old central air conditioning and heating with a new energy efficient system. He replaced ducting and connected it to an air filter that seems to have cured my daughters asthma! He upgraded the electric because he's a licensed electrical contractor as well. This made the job quick and easy. (other bids we got specified outside electricians doing that work.) Dean got us special grills that kept my home looking original. He put in ducting with dampers to regulate the airflow. I wouldn't have thought of it, but there were places in the house that were getting way too hot and way too cold.
