Kilowatt Heating Air Conditioning & Electrical

We had a few estimates for new installation of heating and air conditioning and Dean's was somewhere in the middle - He was very patient and explained everything very well. He also compared other models and showed the efficiency of each in comparison. The B for Professionalism is only because we knew the start date but wasn't called with a specific time and they showed up really early while we were still sleeping. It just caught us off guard. Also the day of the inspection we were not notified and no one was here, so we had to reschedule. On the other hand - our inspector was difficult and demanded above and beyond. Dean's guys came in, quickly and without complaint fixed everything to the inspector's happiness. Thank you for everything - we are toasty and warm this winter.

No estimate / services were performed

I sent an email for an appointment to get a bid to replace my 30 year old heating and air conditioning system. I received a call from Dean within an hour and got an appointment scheduled for a couple of days later. Dean showed up on time and provided me with a couple of options on replacement after determining the problem with my system. He was courteous and professional and I accepted his proposal and got the first appointment available which was about 10 days in the future. He said if an earlier appointment should become availble he would let me know. In fact one opened up earlier and it worked perfectly for me. The service team showed up on time, introduced everyone who would be working on the project. They worked all day and were all very plesant, hard working and professional. Dean showed up twice to check the job and make sure I was satisfied, given instruction on operation of the system and the programmable thermostat. No one left the job until I was 100% satisfied and cool. I highly recommend Kilowatt.

We have used Kilowatt in the past (a couple of years ago they had previously installed a central furnace and new ducting) so we trusted them to install a new central air conditioner, condenser and coil for my mother-in-law. Dean, the owner, is really customer-focused and his price was reasonable. He really takes good care of his customers. For example, he had his technicians do a routine maintenance on the furnace at the same time of the air condtioner installation. He even agreed to come back to do a final inspection and confirm everything was installed properly and he also brought a case of extra air filters with him that we had ordered. Now that's what I call great customer service! I noticed the excellent work and attention to detail (extra thick insulation for the copper tubing, leveling the condenser because the ground was not level, etc.) that Dean and his employees put into a job. He doesn't just want a sale, he wants a customer for life.

His guys showed up on time and worked quickly but did a good job and always cleaned up after they were done. Since we were in the middle of our project and had not expected to do such a comprehensive job, Dean worked hard to fit us into their work schedule so we could stay on schedule with cabinet installation. Nice guy, great to work with, and we would definitely hire him again!

The work went great. He got me a unit that he could get right on the spot. He and his crew came back and installed it on a Sunday. Most importantly it made my 94 year old mom happy. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future.

The work was done on time, but they were misleading and not thorough enough with their original estimate. We were lead to believe they were adding an extra return and a few more heat registers, but instead they just replaced the face of the registers. And when they were half way through the work they started to tell me what else needed to be done at an additional fee (boxing off the under furnace return specifically, I heard the contractor on the phone with the office asking why they didn't check it while giving the estimate). Overall I feel like they were more concerned with getting the work scheduled than making sure I understood everything they were going to be doing.

Dean, the owner of the company and Rick came over to give me an inspection on my house. I needed refurbishing of the electrical system. They spent a lot of time not only looking for what was needed but explained to me what was going on and why it needed to be done, giving me several options on how I could do it. They fixed some electrical problems I had, right on the spot! Dean really knows what he is doing. He has been doing this for a long time and his expertise and knowledge base really shows. Not only does he know his trade but he cares about doing it the right way. It's his life more than a job. I would highly recommend him.

We developed short circuits in several electrical outlets and needed repair and replacement. I contacted Kilowatt Electrical, a company that I had noted for a number of years but had never used and was treated professionally and with respect. The electrician arrived at the time scheduled. He was knowledgeable and fixed the various problems quickly and completely. I was fully satisfied with the service call and will use this firm again, if needed, in the future.

The job went very well. They were very efficient. I found the owner of the company to be a little condescending. He talked down to me. Otherwise, they were professional and did the work. They were perfectly nice to work with. I spent about $5000 on the job. They were not the least expensive, but they were reliable. They were not very responsive. I wanted some other work done, but I think it was not a big enough job for them. They never gave me a call back. I will use them again in the future.

Was pleased that they responded quickly. Was displeased that they "put the ball in our court" to get the part.

It turns out that the man who came on the service call actually owns the company! Very friendly man. He saw that my previous A/C company had made some mistakes when they installed my unit originally. It had never worked 100%. I liked that he did not bad mouth my old company (even though I would never use them again!) He repaired the problem and then he started walking around looking at my air conditioning registers. He made quite a few adjustments so that my system would work at its maximum efficiency. I like that he looked at my system as a whole, not just the problem for which I had called. I would definitely use Kilowatt again!

The first time we were scheduled to have an estimate, the guy couldn't make it... so my husband and I ended up wasting a day of work for it. I did not have a great contact with the one who came in our house (It was not the famous Dean :) Maybe it would have changed something) to give an estimate but he doesn't work there anymore. So my overall rating is a C (fair) After my Angie's List report, Dean contacted me to figure out some other issues I had, so it was appreciated that they care about their work and reputation.

What more can I say, a contractor that you can TRUST. Their employees were very tidy and professional. Everything was done beyond what I had expected. Soon we will be replacing our heating and air conditioning system and will only be calling Kilowatt. I recommend them to everyone.

Dean provided helpful information when he came to do the estimate and seemed very knowledgable. He worked with an energy efficiency expert we had hired to find the best solutions for our home. He provided a detailed estimate and work began as agreed. The workers were very polite, arrived on time, worked diligently and cleaned up beautifully. They addressed the few small concerns I had during the work quickly and effectively. Communication was straightforward and easy. The only glitch was that the lighting work we wanted to do could not be done because of space problems but Dean suggested a workable alternative (that his company could not do but we could have done by someone else). Overall a positive experience. I recommend them.

Kilowatt did a complete assessment of the energy that could be produced for my home by solar panels. My main concern, besides price and output, was that I didn't want my house to have awkward panels sticking up and ruining the beauty of my home. They designed a system that looks great, very lowkey. Kilowatt put all the prices and options in writing, got the permits, installed everything perfectly. They were a pleasure to deal with. In the end they walked me through the necessary paperwork to collect my tax credit and rebates. I am savign $$$$$ now guys! My meter runs backwards during the day!

When my air conditioning unit started to fail, I began asking friends for a referal for a good heating & air conditioning company. I was given excellent references for Kilowatt Heating, Air & Electrical, so I decided to use them. My experience began when I called to schedule an appointment and spoke with a very polite receptionist who gave me an appointment the following day. When Dean showed up at my home the following day he was very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He was very patient and explained in great detail what needed to be done, how much it would cost and the amount of time it would take to complete the job. I really appreciated Kilowatts prompt "take care of business" attitude and willingness to get the job done right. They really are THE BEST!

Kilowatt took a very frustrating problem and completely turned it around. Right from the beginning they were polite, professional, and very knowledgeable. Even though my electrical problem wasn't huge or expensive, they still made me feel that my job was just as important as any other one.

These guys were good. Scott came out to my house a year earlier to give me an estimate and I remembered him once I was ready to do the job. He worked with me on the price and we figured out a way to do this relativeley economically. It was a major job and he saw it through to the end. i paid him a little extra on the side to do a couple of other small things and the job was over in no time. When it was over, a pipe needed to be moved to another spot, so they brought a guy over who promptly moved it. Scott followed up a few days later even though he had been laid off in that two-day span - he STILL CALLED! I was really impressed by these guys.

BEST, BEST, BEST service and quality equipment installed in my home. the suggestions to upgrade were exactly what a professional would recommend without over charging. I up graded my ducting and the volume of my air condition has increased without having to use our unit for an extended period of time. If we ever consider going solar Kilowatt is the first and last phone call I will make. You will be surprised how fast and effective this service is.

It all went relatively well. I found Kilowatt heating & AC through Angie's List so it's not a huge surprise. Dean, the owner and direct contact through the whole process, was a pleasure to work with. We originally wanted to replace the ducting but decided to replace the 50's Chrysler heater with a quality modern unit and reclaim the original 1940's closet that served as its home. Work began promptly the following day. Day 1: The old heater and ducting were removed and the closet was closed off. They had also installed a sturdy catwalk/platform in the attic to facilitate install and service of the new heater. Day 2: The heater and the ducting were installed. I noticed the gas and refrigerant lines remained in the closet and asked Dean to divert this from the closet. This would require new copper piping and gas lines. But we wanted to do the right thing. There were so many half-headed fixes in our house that we decided to just make the whole thing right. So we opted for the new lines and added a new AC unit with the modern refrigerant to seal the deal. Roof vents and thermostat was installed. Day 3: Thew new plans gave us day 3 and 4. This day gas and copper lines were added. And the AC unit arrived. Day 4: The AC unit was connected and the system was tested. Some advice: Make sure you're not around when the system is tested. The steel parts on the heater are coated with a protective oil that must be burned away during initial usage. It doesn't smell so healthy for the first week or so. The heater works great. The vent on the roof leaked a bit during a heavy rain but Dean promptly sent someone to fix the issue. I'm discerning when it comes to quality and know my way around a house. Killowatt did well by me and I would certainly recommend them.
