Kilowatt Heating Air Conditioning & Electrical

I don't even know where to start this company is SO AMAZING!!! I have to start with Lillian, who scheduled my warranty service date. It's not enough to say she's professional, personable, patient and responsive to questions, she is a perfect representative of Kilowatt. This is a company with a heart. They truly CARE about their customers and Lillian treated me like a member of the family. And no, I'm not related to anyone there. Okay, so Erik comes out for the service yesterday. He was prompt, warm, explained everything he was doing and made me feel completely at ease. But, I expected no less because Erik was part of the Kilowatt crew who came out to replace our dead condenser last year in the middle of a heat wave. The entire crew STAYED UNTIL 9:00pm to make sure everything worked properly with the new condenser and checked our heating furnace as well. Back to my warranty check up. Everything was fine until Erik noticed a leak in the motor. When he showed me, it was so apparent I wondered why I hadn't noticed it before. If you check your thermometer outside today you'll discover we're in the midst of another heat wave. This is serious business for me as I'm fighting a serious illness and being in a house without air conditioning as temperatures are supposed to climb during the week really rattled me. Erik immediately got on the phone to the manufacturer who told him they only replaced motors when they were truly dead. So Erik called the Kilowatt office and they got on it immediately. I don't know what they said or how they did it, but a new motor is going to be installed tomorrow!!! Lillian called me and personally made sure that I knew Kilowatt was going to take care of me and take care of the motor issue. I was so stressed thinking that the motor might give out completely and what that would mean for me health wise. Well, this was never going to happen with Kilowatt. The turn around from not being able to get a new motor to getting it and installing it is almost unbelievable. I have to give kudos to Ellie, who helped me last year, to Erik and to Dean the owner of Kilowatt. This is an amazing company and if you need air conditioning or heating service these are the people to call.

They didn't charge me and it still working so we are getting by.

The reception woman was kind and professional when making the appointment and Dean called later to get more specific details. He knew what I wanted to do and thought going with the ductless unit would make more since because that is what he has in his house. I was given a one hour window the next day for the appointment and Dean showed up on time. We showed him the room and said the ductless unit was our best option. He gave us a few numbers. I just don't think I clicked with him on a personal level, He seemed sort of like a bull in a china shop. He sat on our Washer to look at the side of a wall unit and dented it in. I popped it back out. I just didn't get a sense of detail from him - and that is something I look for. There were other things as well with a ladder and the dog. It might not bother many other people but I noticed it. I can not write about his work , he did not perform any. He came just for an estimate. These are only my opinions and what I experienced. We decided to go with another AC/Heating company .

It went great. Did what they said they were going to do. In the time they promised and for the price they promised. Dean, the owner, is an easy guy to work with.

Very professional and timely. No surprise or hidden costs. Prior to the work being done, Dean Gilford did a thorough review of you system and provided a detailed estimate of all the work. The installers showed up on time and didn't leave until they made sure we were happy and all our questions had been answered.

What started as a simple ceiling fan and light fixture installation evolved into a full blown new HVAC system and electrical. We bought our home over a year ago and knew the HVAC needed to be replaced within the next 1-2 years. We used Kilowatt before at our condo so we asked them to give us a diagnosis since our furnace started to randomly go out. The service technician didn't try to sell us anything he just gave us information on what needed to eventually be done. At the same time another Kilowatt Tech. was on site to change some light fixtures and found 2 of them had old cloth wiring. If i remember correctly it was the neutral wire and not the others. The electrical passed inspection when we bought the house and even the owner from Kilowatt, Dean, checked it out after we closed escrow and agreed it wasn't brand new wiring (say 2013) but was up to code and probably done in the 1980's. So again, nothing to really worry about. We have two young children and after discussing with my wife we decided to speak with Dean on what options we had. Needless to say Dean was able to work with us on the price and presented several options. It was definitely a cost we didn't expect when calling for a couple of ceiling fans to be installed but it was well worth it. We have piece of mind that everything is brand new, up to code, and guaranteed by Kilowatt. We love our WiFi HVAC system with 2 stage furnace and AccuClean filtration unit. Its very easy to use and of course convenient since its an app on your phone. Once the work started it took about 2 weeks (7-10 work days). They made sure to finish the HVAC as fast as possible since we wouldn't have heat for the evenings. Luckily we live in the valley. :O) Once the HVAC was up and running they completed the electrical over the next 5 days. We had about 3-5 techs from Kilowatt in and out of the house and they were all great. Very professional and went out of their way to work around me since I work from home. I am bad with names but I can say Hector, Joey, and the rest of the guys were great to work with. Cleaned up every day and made sure to keep everything in place as much as possible. I would definitely suggest Kilowatt to anyone looking for HVAC or electrical work.

I was very impressed with my service from Kilowatt. Mario solved our problem of the thermostat shorting out and unable to properly heat our house by simply replacing our filter with a new (and better one). We had an electrician AND another HVAC company come out prior and they were unable fix the problem. Thank you Kilowatt!

Kilowatt has done several electrical jobs for me in the past and I have never been dissatisfied. This job was no different. Prior to calling Kilowatt, I got 2 other quotes and was not satisfied with the solutions that were proposed. This is when I called Kilowatt. Dean came to my house and took a look at the old system. Before providing a solution he listened to what I wanted. Since I don't plan on being in my home longer than 10 years, I did not want to sink a lot of money into a system. I did, however, want to save on my electric bill. Dean worked up a quote that fit my budget. He did not try to oversell me on technology I did not want. I accepted his quote and the work was performed on 8/13/2013. His crew arrived on time and got right to work. The job foreman, Rick, was courteous and professional. They first covered my floors with drop cloths and went right to work. After removing the old furnace, they had to shore up the closet base due to water damage caused by the old unit. They installed new plywood and sheet metal to insure no moisture leaks down to the first floor. Additionally, they added a new return duct to improve the overall airflow. The condenser takes up a smaller foot and was securely installed. A cut off breaker was installed at the unit to meet city code. Lastly, they installed a new thermostat. Before leaving, Rick gave me a complete overview of our new system. All work was completed in a single day and Rick and the crew left my home spotless. The job passed city inspection on 8/14/2013. My only regret was not calling Kilowatt first!

The entire experience with Kilowatt was extremely positive. Their level of professionalism and expertise is outstanding. From the spec'ing of the system to the commissioning to the friendly and knowledgeable office/business communications, they provided the utmost in skill and efficiency. Our first impression with any company begins with the person who answers the phone. Ellie was our gateway into Kilowatt. She is an absolute doll. Professional. Personable. Knowledgeable. She answered all our questions and provided us with such an excellent experience, we decided to bring Kilowatt out to give us a bid. At first we tried to put our old condenser unit back together (ala Humpty Dumpty) and Erik came out. He found our capacitor and one of our fuses had burned out. He replaced them and we got an extra two and a half months with the old unit. But then on July 8th the unit died completely. I called Kilowatt, spoke to Ellie and she sent Rick to our house that day. Rick is an angel disguised as an air conditioning/heating repair man. He arrived promptly, inspected our unit and coil and came back with his recommendations.He explained everything in detail with both context as well as content, so we knew exactly why he was recommending what he was recommending. We agreed to hire Kilowatt that same day and an appointment for the 10th of july was made and confirmed. Rick and Hector arrived around 10:45 (they had another call before us - we knew this and were grateful they wanted to do our job the same day) and immediately started to work. Rick and Hector were extremely respectful of our home, laying down drop cloths and using shoe covers when necessary. We also have three cats and had to lock them up near where Rick and Hector were working and they made sure to not open the doors to the room where the cats were. They took one break j- for lunch - about 45 minutes. That was it. With the exception of needing to come and go for a few things they were either missing or ran out of, the only other breaks they took were bathroom breaks. This was an extremely labor intensive job, which took until 9:00pm to finish. Yes, that's right 9:00pm. They stayed until not only was the unit properly installed and equalized, but waited for it to run, rev up and make sure it cooled the house properly. They used temperature gauges by our registers to check for even cooling. They also made sure our furnace worked and the heating unit functioned properly. About 5pm Erik joined the crew to help. This is the same Erik who helped us the first time and we were very happy to see him. All three men worked beautifully together and when they were done, cleaned our home and the work areas very well. We are very impressed with this company from the top down and will use them again in the future. We highly recommend you give them a call when bidding your next job.

Kilowatt gave me a fair price in an emergency situation which makes me trust them even more. I hired Kilowatt to install heating and air conditioning and was pleased with the work performed so I did not hesitate to call them when I needed an electrician. They provided excellent service. Hector came to my home on time and went right to work installing the outdoor lighting. When my wife came home she asked him to check the electricity in our guesthouse which has been problematic. He investigated everything thoroughly, then showed us photos he had taken and carefully explained that we needed a circuit panel upgrade and some re-wiring of old damaged wiring in the house. I wasn't surprised. I suspected the electricity was inadequate but the damaged wiring concerned me since my 96 year old mother was visiting and staying in the guesthouse. Ellie scheduled the additional work immediately and Hector and Joe completed it the next day without disturbing my mother at all. It's nice to have an honest company I can rely on.

Kilowatt Heating and Air is a great company. Dean comes into your home like your buddy and shoots straight. Don't be intimidated by his fast talking manner, he simply gets excited and knows his stuff. Dean took the time to walk through the options and have several conversations with us about different features. Ultimately, he is very accommodating. He has a passion for his job and he genuinely cares about giving his customers the right systems and great service. This translates down to the entire staff. We had an exceptional foreman, Rick, who was the epitome of consideration and professionalism. The crew worked hard. The system runs great and we got a good price for it, not the bottom of the barrel, but a reasonable price and not the most expensive. Overall, we are very happy with our system and the guys at Kilowatt. We recommend!

Dean arrived on time and was very courteous and friendly. He assessed our LG mini ductless unit and told us he has worked with another brand of mini ductless system not this particular one but he looked at the owner's manual and quickly understood how he was going to go about servicing the unit. We appreciated his candor about not being familiar with this exact unit and instantly felt comfortable with him and his ability. He took great care of the unit, cleaning it and servicing a exterior hose leading to the condenser. He did his work throughly and professionally. We liked him and his work so much that we spoke to him about installing two more mini ductless units in the future. I fully recommend Dean and his company. We will definitely be using his services in the future.

I can't say anything but good things. They were prompt. They had good communication. They kept every appointment they set and they were easy to work with.

ERIK was on time. He was clean, he was polite, he took at look at the inside part of the AC (the one that resides in the ceiling of my condo near the bathroom). He told me that many things needed to be replaced, but he'd 'try to get it working'... then proceeded as you already know from previous section to go on the roof, break a few things, and spin it all like he did his best to repair the situation. What I know is that it was working prior to his arrival - the evening after he left, it was not working. I've lived here 10 years -- I own the unit -- I've had various servicemen condition and clean my AC - this was the first who came in to help clean it who then broke it and blamed 'the person who was here before me'... and then mysteriously the whole AC died that night. The gentleman I brought in -- YM Services, ask for Yakov - came the next day - took one look at the roof system that ERIK had broken, and said, 'no wonder it's not working - whomever was here yesterday broke all the seals ... not sure what he thought he was doing...' I asked Yakov if it was repairable or did I indeed need a 'whole new system' as Kilowatt had advised... NOT ONLY DID I NOT NEED A WHOLE NEW SYSTEM, he took the time to point out how everything was working. and while he certainly could charge me 5,000-6,000 for a whole new AC system (notice the price is already 2-3,000 less than Killowatt's) -- THERE WAS ZERO NEED TO DO SO. He then repaired everything in 4 hours, cleaned out the unit in the condo, put a ton of freeon in the now-not-leaking- roof unit, and gave me a contract that shows he WILL REPAIR THE SYSTEM FOR FREE for a year should it again have issues holding the Freeon. It's been 24 hours and it's working beautifully. No leaking (IT DID NOT NEED A PVC COVER FOR 75.00 in fact he said that was a mistake as that needed to remain open to allow for proper circulation!!). I AM SAD AND DISTRAUGHT THAT DEAN AND HIS COMPANY THRIVE ON MISLEADING CUSTOMERS AND CHARGING THEM FOR BREAKING THEIR SYSTEMS AND THEN SAYING THEY CANNOT REPAIR THEM, THEY NEED A WHOLE NEW AC.

We recently purchased our home and were referred by our agent to Kilowatt to replace the circuit panel. Dean came out to give us a quote within less than a week after contacting them. We decided at the same time to move the panel from one part of the house to another. He got the job scheduled within a few days to align to my tight timeline for moving in. I don't know if they were the cheapest, but I have to say I am extraordinarily pleased with the quality of their work. They added an extra access box in the garage (without being asked) to make future access to the panel from the interior easier. I have no reservations about recommending them in the future as I plan to use them for all my future HVAC and electrical work.

Dean was great with the estimate process, gave multiple options and was incredibly knowledgeable. Unlike others who bashed competitors products, etc. Dean pointed me to reliable sources (i.e. Consumer Reports) for information on the products and solutions he was representing. The price was very fair (several thousand cheaper than some competitors who never actually sent me a quote but just spouted off numbers when I met with them) and we made up our minds the same night. We had a few lingering questions and Dean came out the next evening, answered our remaining questions, provided information on financing options and by the next morning we were all set and scheduled for the next week. Rick and his crew did the install and were great, very respectful, thorough and clean. The install took only 2 days, before closing out the work Rick performed multiple tests including adjusting all of our existing registers and made sure I was comfortable with everything including things like cleaning the filters going forward. I will be using Kilowatt for future maintenance and appreciate their thoroughness and approach.

If you want your heat or cooling fixed long enough to decide on a new system - go elsewhere Update 4/9/2013 - if your system is almost 30! Nice guy and I'm sure he'll do a good install.

Was a great experience. A wonderful company with great people. A fast, friendly quote process with no pressure. The workers treated the house with respect and care (even when cutting holes in walls they did the minimum damage possible - and then patched and touched up paint - so really a full service). Did way more work than Home Depot were going to do - and for $3K less than Home Depot were quoting. Cannot recommend more highly.
