We've used them for years. They were nice and professional. They really tried hard to put the new door down that we bought but we bought the wrong size. It was our mistake but he still tried to see what he could do. He made sure the door looked nice and there were no scratches. He took care of it and even took his shoes off when he was inside.

Cory was the one that helped me over the phone. He was very patient and nice. I didn't even know there was a hole in the lock that I needed to push with an object. Instead of making this a complex job, he worked with me over the phone instead of doing the work.

Corey was spot on time, professional and very friendly. He got all the locks in in about an hour or so and serviced a fourth sticky deadbolt while he was rekeying the garage. He also showed me how to remove the Medeco deadbolts without damaging the finish for when we get our new doors.The price came in on estimate (may have even been a little cheaper). We'll definitely be using (and recommending) Flam's for all our locksmithing needs in the future.

These guys are now my favorite locksmith! I was able to email Corey photos of the door before he came, so that he knew what he would be dealing with. He showed up exactly on time, had everything he needed on hand, fixed everything perfectly and quickly (which included a run back to the office to make the special keys), and was very professional and nice. Cost was less than I expected. Highly recommended.

There's no reason to throw away perfectly good doorknobs just because you want to have them rekeyed, but that's what I thought I was going to have to do when I started calling around to locksmiths when I bought my home. Most people knew what I meant when I said I had a Schlage wafer knob I wanted rekeyed, but they'd never actually seen one since they stopped making parts for them 30 years ago. Not so with Flam's -- they not only know HOW to rekey the lock, but they also have the parts to do it, and like I said, Schlage stopped making the parts 30 years ago. I went in to see Jack Flam (the owner), and he told me that he could rekey my locks in an hour if I brought them in the next morning, which I did. I'd thought he'd just rekey them, but he also cleaned, lubricated, and repaired some broken springs in the locks, making them now operate flawlessly. They're probably the only people in the valley who keep stock of obsolete parts for locks that are over 30 years old, and without them, I would've been lost. Now I can get another 60 years out of my locks.

I walked into their store and picked out the locks and handles that I wanted. They called and said that they would come and install the locks. I did not really have to be here, so they worked with my handyman, and he had no complaints. I would rate them highly.

A client recommended Jack Flam to me. After playing phone tag, we set up an appt for someone to come to my new home to rekey all the locks. A nice young man named Corey showed up, worked quickly and quietly, gave me 2 more new keys than I asked for, and left. Very nice experience and of course gave me peace of mind knowing that no one with old keys could get in.

I had difficulty getting some high security Medeco keys copied, since they could only be copied on the East Coast. 3 different Medeco locksmiths gave up and told me they couldn't do it. Jack Flam was persistent and after several weeks of phone calls and mailing in forms across the country, he was able to get the keys reproduced for me. Explained what was going on every step of the way. Charged me the same price as for any Medeco key duplication even though the headache was ten times worse.

They lost my order form and also had poor customer service. When I gave them a chance to make it up to me, they did not respond. They didn't pay attention. They made a mistake, but there was no urgency on their part to fix it. I would have thought that if you made a mistake you would want to remedy it, but they didn't.

These guys are hugely expensive, and I wouldn't use them unless the risk you're protecting against is significant, as it might be when it concerns your personal physical security in your own home. You're paying not just for hardware, the Medeco locks are great, but also for the Medeco system for controlling key duplication. Medeco is worth the money. However, three things about Flam's didn't totally satisfy me: (1) I asked specifically about the reinforced strike plate that goes with the lock, and whether or not it included a steel jacket for the deadbolt to slip into. It did not, but they said it did. (2) The guy who installed the interlock plates used two-way screws on the U-shaped portion that screws to the door. These could be unscrewed by anyone with a Philips screwdriver, defeating the purpose of the interlock. (3) They declined to replace the hinge screws with three-inch screws into the wall stud to resist door kick-ins, saying they'd never seen a burglar attack hinges rather than the lock. (Maybe true, but what about cops? They kick in doors on TV all the time. Maybe I don't want that.) The Medeco lock system is great, but there are other suppliers, not many, but a few. I'd check around.

I chose them because they were one of the only Medico specialists. They came over to first provide an estimate. Very informative, but took too much time (VERY CHATTY). Came back to perform install. Installed high-end Medico deadbolts and locks. Very clean installation. Threw in some extra key copies. Only problem was the install caused some cracking in my front door due to extra long screws he tried to use on the reinforced deadbolt catch (which he up-sold). I was upset, and he first made excuses. He then "reminded" me that he threw in extra keys. I told him I'll just talk to his manager, which my fault, I only mentioned but never followed up. I would have rated quality of work higher due to great install on locks and deadbolt, but had to lower rating due to crack in door. Unfortunately, if you want a certified Medico Security Center, they're the only one in town.

Terrible! Initially it seemed like they would be cheaper than others, but because their fees are hourly and they mark up the locks, in the end it cost me $100-$200 more than it would have if I had hired the other locksmith who gave me a fixed price quote. A few months later the lock wouldn't lock anymore and between the house call fee and the hourly fee they wanted to charge me at least another $160 and who knows how much if it takes more than an hour. When I called the owner, he was rude, said that everyone gets their locks changed in the summer and complains in the winter, and hung up on me. I was bewildered at his unprofessional behavior so I called back and he hung up again. Honestly, if that was my business I'd wonder why my customers are having trouble with with their overly expensive locks just months after installation. I certainly wouldn't be hanging up on them. One expects a $500 lock to work for years not months.

I had a specialty lock that needed to replaced. After making an appointment they asked me if I could email them pictures of the lock, which I did. The next morning no one showed up for the appointment. I called and they said there was a misunderstanding, they had been waiting for the pictures and apparently hadn't checked their email. They asked for more detailed pictures of the lock, which I sent. They told me they thought they would have to special order the lock and that they would do an internet search to see if they could find the company who manufactured the lock. They never got back to me after that. I think they figured the job was more trouble than it was worth. Meanwhile I called another company that came out and replaced the lock with no trouble.

Service was timely and high quality.

Owner is very knowledgeable. Discussed the pros and cons of various lock types and brands. Family owned company that has been in business for over 50 years. The installer cut a new hole for the dead bolt and adjusted the lock after installing it until it sounded and felt right. He has worked for the company for 15 years, and was also very knowledgeable.
