I had the pleasure of working with Clif and his team last month when I took on the daunting task of upgrading my home. Clif and his team made the "painting" portion of the project easy! The job took 5 full working days and they were always on time, courteous & clean, and the finished product was beautiful. They were cooperative with the other contractors that were also doing work in the home and got the job done in the time periods they said they would. They weren't the cheapest but I was looking for good quality - and that is what I got. When it comes to jobs like this, my theory is that contractors can do it fast, do it cheap, do it well...but you only get to pick two of those choices! I would definitely use them again if necessary!

Clif Jones is the most professional painter I have ever done business with, from start to finish. When he came over for the initial evaluation and cost estimate, I noticed how carefully he looked over the work to be done. My impression was that Clif really cared about doing a quality job and wanted to get the details right. When he came back with the estimate, Clif's was neither the highest nor the lowest, but I chose him because I was convinced he would provide the most value for the money and do a good job, and I was right! I really appreciate the advice Clif gave us on our color selections. He completely respected our overall color concept, but he told us candidly he thought the color we chose for the stucco was too yellow. He also helped us refine our trim color choice and his advice was right on both counts. When the day arrived for the work to begin, I was blown away with the way his crew works. They didn't do a lot of talking once they started the job. They were too busy working hard and concentrating on the job to be done. It took two weeks to complete the work, but it was worth it. It wasn't just a paint job in my case, it was a restoration. I would not hesitate to recommend Clif Jones to anyone looking for high quality work. I plan to bring him back myself next year when we begin working on our interior.

I have renovated quite a few homes and would say Clif Jones and his team were some of the best painters I have had the pleasure to work with. They were mindful of the environment and workplace, they were punctual, courteous, and honest. They also do an incredible job. The painting was perfect. I will use Clif Jones Painting for any other projects I have for sure.

Clif was amazing, I called him on a Monday morning and he was at the house that Monday afternoon to look and prepare a bid. The inside of the house has been kept in top notch condition but I kept ignoring the exterior and it had not been painted in 15+ years. I would say Clif and his team, Jose and crew, are more of "restoration experts" rather than painters. I am very detail oriented and they simply exceeded all of my expectations on detail work. They did lots of things that I had not thought of. If you are looking for a cheap painter to slap paint on your house at the cheapest price you can find this is not the company for you. These folks care about the quality of their work and I would recommend them to anyone who appreciates a job perfectly executed!

Clif was so great in matching the colors of the stucco and wood trim. It matches perfectly. He is so thorough and his workers are so skilled and respectful. I am a senior citizen and I believe I was given a great price and now the work is almost completed. My house is looking like new. This company really knows what they are doing and really care how you feel and what you need done. They are a hard working and skilled company. Someday I will need to have the inside of my house painted and patched and I will not hestitate to call on them again. They are the most conscientious company I have ever dealt with. They did what I wanted done and more.

Our experience with Clif Jones was excellent. He came out for an estimate and was on time and professional. His experience with the needs of an older home and his expertise with the preparation needed for high quality painting were recognized in this initial meeting. He was attentive to what our specifications were and our needs. He was able to give a reasonable expectation of costs and made adjustments to fit our budget. After this first meeting, we felt very comfortable with Clif and confident to proceed with his services. At the onset of our services, everything went as had been outlined in our proposal and as to what Clif had mentioned. We were very pleased with the promptness of his staff, the ease of being able to communicate our needs as the job proceeded, the care to clean up after each day of work, and the quality of each days service. In the end, our job was finished in the timeline we were given. The quality of the work was excellent.We have an older home that required special care when doing prep work and to restore the textures of the woodwork. Our home looks fabulous and we are very pleased with the attention to detail that was given by Clif Jones Painting. First, the short version.. The Cif Jones Painting Company is excellent. Their professionalism, work ethic and excellent customer service is bar none. Now, the long version! We hired Clif Jones 10 years ago to paint our first home. It was a small ranch house in Studio City. Upon moving into the neighborhood we asked neighbors if they had any recommendations for painters and found that Clif, by chance, lived down the street and that his reputation was impeccable. So, after getting a few bids, including Clif's we decided to go with Clif. And the job that he did was indeed impeccable. The prep and finish to the exterior was perfect! The house had old wood windows and was completely sided in redwood which Clif and his team expertly refinished. To this day, the house looks immaculate because the prep and paint were done properly. A few years later my wife and I decided that we'd like to live in another type of home and chose an architectural in the Hollywood Hills. This house was a fixer. Years of neglect had left the paint and woodwork nearly destroyed and being that it was a house of historical note (it was the first home photographed by famed architectural photographer Julius Shulman, the Kun Residence by Richard Neutra) we needed to make sure only the best people worked on it...bring in Clif Jones! Once again, the prep and finish were spectacular! This time Clif and his team tackled interior and exterior. Walls were stripped of old wallpaper, plastered to perfection and given a new shine. As far as the exterior was concerned the original trim paint color used was aluminum and we found out how hard it is to paint aluminum paint properly. But, once again Clif and his guys finished the job with impeccable results. Even our neighbor, a noted architect, was impressed by the job. This now brings us to our third home. Yes, we move a lot, but it's because we truly love to live in different types of homes, we are not flippers! Anyway, our third home is a 1920's English cottage. And again, this one left neglected. Cif and his guys once again expertly renewed the exterior of our home. This time we needed stucco repair, wood rot repair and a lot of sanding and prep. As Jose, Clif's main guy says, "painting is easy, prep is hard!" With this house my wife and I had a very difficult time choosing a color. I think we actually went through nearly 100 samples to try and find a color. To no avail. When we finally decided to call Clif so he could paint the house we asked him for color suggestions knowing he is a pro! After about 45 minutes of looking at his color books he came up with the perfect color! He even said it was the hardest house he'd ever try to figure color for. You see we have this pretty ugly roof that was put on new 2 years ago by the previous owner and we really didn't want to incur the cost of changing it just so we could paint an exterior color we liked. But, Clif nailed it on the first try! We absolutely love the color and trim colors and realize it was the only color the house could be! In summary, as you can tell, we absolutely love Clif and his guys. Over the years, and 3 homes, they have been professional, clean, extremely hard working, quiet, and most of all nice. Jose has now worked on all 3 homes and he is always a welcome part of the Clif Jones team. I cannot stress how good these guys are. Details that other contractors may miss or just ignore are accounted for. You don't have to ask any of the guys to do something twice. They show up on time, work all day, and completely clean up each and every day. These are things that only the best contractors and their team will do. If you are considering any kind of paint job I can only highly recommend you hire Clif Jones Painting.

If you want to dive on the floor for the last nickle for savings when it comes to your paint jobs, you'll just end up paying for it in the long run - one way or another. I've seen this time and time again, I offer that as my preamble before reviewing Clif Jones Painting Co. Clif is like a great mechanic - or for LA reference, a great plastic surgeon. He's the guy that everyone calls in to repair the work done (poorly) by everyone else. He's the guy that let's you breath out a sigh of relief and say, "Why didn't I hire him the first time around." This guy is a pro. He's been at it for decades and has an expert crew led by Marco and Jose. I decided at the beginning to meet with the top five Angie's list guys in my area. They were all competent, presented well and - generally - were in the same ball park financially. I went on instinct that Clif was the right vendor to go with - and I'm very pleased with my choice. For nearly six weeks, he and his crew were working on the property and two days didn't go by without Clif coming by and checking on things. He's sharp and detail oriented. His two foremen are top notch - Marco and Jose - each of whom has been with Clif approaching twenty years. If you're expectation is that you'd like to pay a laborer $135 a day in cash to paint with a little supervision - then Clif and his team are not going to be a good fit for you. His men are professionals - and have been in the trade for a minimum of 10 years. And they have families and they are being compensated fairly by Clif for doing top-of-the-line work. I went through the numbers a few times in detail - and found them fair. High end, yes - but fair. Clif is not banging people out. He runs a good business and should be credited for that. The results of his work are first rate - and they come from the fact that these guys know how to prepare. They are patient and diligent and get things right the first time. Sure, I had the blue tape out for the review of the exterior of the guest house - in fact, I purchased a new roll, so sure that they're would be many fixes necessary. I think I managed to tear off eight pieces of tape in my review - and I'm a Director and regarded as a pain in the a** for detail. Eight pieces of tape on a two-week job for a guest house exterior? Those are very good numbers - and once the guys saw how focused I was on detail, and how appreciative I was of their craftsmanship, I don't think I pulled out the blue tape again for the remaining weeks they were on the job for the other projects on the property. One note of caution on bidding - Clif keeps paint and expendables separate (or "on top of") his bids. It's usually around 15% of his cost. Just FYI. What you'll like about that is you will decide together on what paint brand he uses and you'll get receipts for it with a small mark up. Same with any blue tape, or floor paper they might need. You really need not look any further. Clif is the man.

Clif and his team did a great job. Exactly as described. He was friendly and communicative.

Clif and his team were incredibly prompt, from the initial bid all the way through the completion of the project. Our house had not been painted in 10 years, so we had a great deal of prep to be done prior to any painting. That was why we selected Clif, the reviews of the restoration work were a deciding factor. We knew we had window sills that needed attention and wood siding that would require filling and prep. Clif and his team took their time and did the job right. They addressed our concerns throughout the process and made changes or did additional prep. Clif made sure to update us on progress throughout. Each night, the team cleaned up and stored their materials. Very tidy and neat job. Our house looks beautiful! The neighbors have all commented on what a great job our painters did! Thanks, Clif! It was a pleasure and we will be calling again!

Perfect!!! We couldn't be happier with the finished job and the same goes for our tenants! (Building was fully occupied during painting.) Clif Jones came out and provided an estimate that was very reasonable for the size and scope of the job and the equipment necessary for a multi-story building renovation. His crew power-washed the building and did extensive prep work on the roof, stucco, wood and iron railings prior to painting. They also cleaned and prepped the interior walls and cabinets for a totally new look. Then they worked their magic transforming our tired old building into a clean, fresh and hip office space. It's gorgeous! At all times the crew was friendly and mindful of their surroundings, our tenants and our clients. The job site was safe, immaculately clean, odor-free of paint fumes (there were none!) and very well supervised. Clif Jones Painting far exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend them for their spot on service, quality of workmanship, knowledgeable staff and timely completion of the job. They were exactly on budget and on time with no surprises.

Several years ago Clif Jones beautifully painted the exterior of my house. The sun has taken it’s toll on the wood siding so I asked Clif to come back to repaint the parts that have weathered. I have found that Clif’s crew does such a wonderful job of preparing that the paint job lasts and this makes it possible to not have to redo the entire house. This is a philosophy that Clif believes in. He has also taught me to hose off the exterior of the house because a clean house makes the paint last! Clif is the only Painter I will use for any type of paint job in fact he has painted every room in my house as well as the exterior!

They did a fantastic job for us. They are the best painting company I have ever worked with. They got the work within a week. I also liked that they accept credit cards. They were never understaffed. They always had enough workers there. They prepped and painted very well. Once the work was done, they came back for touch ups. They did all needed drywall repair. They also kept everything very clean during the job. I see nothing they could improve on and would highly recommend their services.

They were absolutely excellent. I have had other painters out in the past, and they were the best ones. The quality of the work was fantastic, both on the walls and trim. The painters made sure the house was very clean. The crews moved from one room to another without taking over the whole house. All around, they were a great company to work with. In addition to the labor, they purchased the paint after I chose the colors. Clif was very helpful in picking out the best type of paint and colors as well. I will definitely use them again in the future.

Clif was terrific. Professional in every way and great with helping with color selection. I put n/a under price because we only got one estimate (Clif) so I'm not sure how it compares with other painting companies. But we only got one because it was clear after meeting him we'd go with Clif!

This job seemed to scare our regular painter (whom we've used for 10 years on interior work). I turned to Angie's list and based on Clif's reviews, gave him a call. Clif personally responded within the hour by phone. He previewed the property the next day, confirmed my suspicion that the metal had never been primed when the house was built and emailed a bid later that night. It was significantly below our other painter's bid. We had to wait a few weeks for Clif to start, which we appreciated (in the past, we've had other contractors who start "immediately" then disappear for days or weeks because they're finishing other jobs). Clif and I agreed on a start date on which his crew started - they came every day until the job was finished. Because of the rust damage to some of our gates, during this waiting period Clif referred a first rate wrought iron guy who took down the gates and replaced the damaged metal (took about 10 days). Because our rust problem was being caused by the wrong sprinklers, Clif was emphatic that we solve that problem before repainting to ensure we have no future issues. Overall - outstanding service, response, workmanship and value and a good crew. Highly recommended!

We needed to have our patio overhang and fascia board painted, plus some window trim and an exterior door to the garage. I originally contacted one vendor for the job but their bid seemed high, so I contacted two additional companies including Clif Jones. As it turned out, the bids from Clif and the other painting company were within $75. The first company?s bid was $1000 more. I selected Clif because he indicated he would do some minor repair work as well. Clif and his crew did a terrific job. Our patio overhang has never looked better. When they were done, I requested a couple of touch-ups and Clif sent someone over the next day. Clif was easy to work with and responsive and our patio looks great!

Spoke with the owner on the phone about our project. He wanted to ensure the project was big enough to be worth his while. He asked several questions about the size of the rooms to be painted. Provided arrived on a Saturday and walked the space with me. He seemed to be very knowledgeable about his profession and made several recommendations for what paint to use and what to paint and not to paint (e.g., trim). He said that he has a steady crew that performs the work; he does not do the painting himself. He provided a written estimate by email just a couple of days later. We felt that the response was very prompt and professional. The price seemed high but then again the room was very large (a foyer and living room) and went up two stories with a cathedral ceiling. His crew would need to erect scaffolding to paint it. The price did not include materials but estimated materials to be 20% of the labor. Overall impression was that this provider would provide high quality work. We ultimately did not select this provider for the job.

Clif and his crew did a fantastic job painting the bedrooms and bathrooms. The paint job is of professional quality. They came on time and completed the task. I noticed that we had some miss communications about painting the bedrooms with egg shell sheen which was what I wanted but flat was used. He told me he would repaint the room. He handled everything with ease. I will definitely hire Clif again.

First of all, Clif showed up in person, on time, and walked through the entire house with me. This is a VERY challenging job as our house is four stories high and the redwood exterior needed to be re-stained on every surface, including six balconies. Clif surveyed the job and provided an estimate within a reasonable time. Not a snap decision that really amounts to a guess, but a well though-out estimate based on his research. His price was not the lowest, but it was in the ballpark of other bids. But we decided to go with him for two reasons. First, he seemed highly trustworthy, and this turned out to be true. We had the house restained four years ago by another painter and you never knew if he was going to show up or if he was going to guarantee his work. Clif made me feel confident that if there were a problem, it would be taken care of. And second, Clif demonstrated far superior knowledge of the job. He has the experience to know what's possible and what's not, and how to do the job right. And what he didn't know, he researched. He actually called Penofin and got their advice on the best products and the way to apply them. So he came armed with expertise that others simply didn't have. Now you may think that this expertise is irrelevant for a simple paint job. We had a complicated re-staining but anyone can paint an interior wall, for example. But the difference is that you never know what's going to go wrong, and having someone you trust working on your house is worth it. When the job started, Clif arrives with his crew, walked everyone through the job, and supervised until we were comfortable that it was going well. When there were snags--and there always are--he contacted me immediately, explained the situation, and we agreed on a fix. There was a cost overrun on materials, but we were told early on that the needed more stripper than originally planned. So while it was a bummer that the materials wound up being more expensive than expected, no one tried to hide the ball or fudge the numbers. Clif handled it like a pro and we agreed that we needed to do the job right. The crew showed up on time every day, and did the work Clif promised. The job finished on time, and clean-up was nearly perfect. They repainted some trim areas that we hadn't even discussed just to make it look nice, and left the place better than they found it. Overall, the work was outstanding. Again, a different company had done the same job four years ago, and though they were a bit cheaper, they basically did it wrong. They left the stain on wet and didn't wipe it dry as the manufacturer recommends. This caused dirt to accumulate on the wood over the years. Clif did his homework and that's why the job was done right. I am putting an appointment into my calendar to call Clif for the routine maintenance when the time comes to restain the house again. Highly recommended.

We are thrilled with the work done on our house. Basically Clif and his team restored our house and made it new again! Our house was in desperate need of TLC and the paint on the windows was peeling off and wood was exposed. We called Clif for an estimate over a year ago and didn't get around to doing the work until this summer. I originally called him to ask if he wanted to come and estimate again, since it had been so long. But as it turned out a job had unexpectedly cancelled and he was available to do the work right away and agreed to honor the year-old estimate. His crew, led by Jose, was extremely professional, punctual, polite and took great care at every step. They were conscientious and careful when they were inside the house and they left the outdoor areas cleaned up at the end of each work-day. They agreed to remove our old, nasty gutters. They power-washed the house, walkways and patio. Once they got to sanding they identified lots of areas that were affected by dry rot or just in general needed repair. Clif has a carpenter on his crew and he came and did an incredible amount of work repairing windows, repairing doors and planing them so they opened and closed nicely, repairing thresholds and a roof overhang. They replaced two broken windows. They also repaired cracks and holes in the stucco, as well as extra holes made by an electrician who came to install outdoor lights while Clif's team was working. We felt like Clif's team spent time really fixing the underlying things correctly and well, and that they were not going to just cover stuff up with the paint job. Clif also consulted with us about color. He listened to our initial ideas, but after doing a bit of "driving around neighborhoods" research we followed his recommendation and the result is absolutely gorgeous! Our neighbors on our street are all raving as well. The entire job, start to finish, took two weeks, which matched his time-estimate exactly. The final price came in almost a third higher than the original estimate, which was a surprise, but perhaps shouldn't have been. We agreed to the extra carpentry work, and in many cases asked for it. The carpentry labor and materials were billed in addition as was the extra patching of the electrician's holes. We could have done a better job of asking about those costs as we went along, rather than just waiting to see the tally at the end. All in all, we are incredibly satisfied. We feel like we got exceptional, highly professional work that will last for a very long time. We know other painters come in with much cheaper estimates (we saw one that was a third the price) but we know we would not have gotten the same careful, high-quality work that we got from Clif and his team, and in the end it was totally worth it. The job was perfect! This is the second time I've used Clif Jones Painting and I highly recommend them. We needed a ton of wall and molding repairs and patching, skim coating, and lots of wall and trim painting and touch-ups on the inside of your home. And, we had a big stucco wall on the outside (2 1/2 stories high) that needed repairs and painting. Clif sent four very experienced guys to our home-- Jose, the foreman, has been with the company for more than 20 years. They spent 4 fast days of working non-stop and left our home immaculate each evening. The patching and skim coating was excellent and the amount of prep these guys do makes the finished job look fantastic. When they finished, the leftover paint was labels and easy to reference should I need it again. I've recommend this company to my friends and my interior designer because their work is so good and their staff is excellent. Cliff was on the job daily checking things out and is a pleasure to work with. His pricing is fair and reasonable especially for the quality of work. And, he delivers exactly as promised and then some. His crew went the extra mile and made my house look brand new!

We just had our 103 year old wood shingle house painted by Cliff and his extraordinary crew. The result was wonderful and well worth the cost. Cliff's crew worked professionally and with a great deal of care over the three week period. Everything was completed on time and to high standards...and it is not an easy house to prep and paint! I want to especially compliment the crew. They were prompt each day, careful of our property and curteous. Two of our neighbors commented during the job about the crew's professionalism and attitude (you know it's a good company when the neighbors make the effort to comment!). You can't go wrong with this company and this crew.
