Their price was fair. I have had an excellent experience with him. He was neat and clean. His men were on time. I had kitchen cupboards painted and I did have to take everything out of the cupboards, they covered them enough so I did not need to do that. I may have to at some point, but I did not then. He is very good. His men are excellent and they are neat. He has good ideas about things to do, to suggest. I have used him twice and I would use him again. I have never had any really bad experience with anybody I got from Angie's List. His price was about par with the others.

Clif and his crew, headed by Marcos, did a great job painting my house. Out of all the people bidding, he was the only one willing to take on sealing my stone deck, in addition to painting the house. His bid was slightly above the others, but I sensed that it was because of the quality, and I was right. They did a wonderful job and I would definitely use them again. They came on time, cleaned up every day, and were flexible on which part of the house to work on when. The guys were great. Clif was easy to work with and steered me towards some color choices which worked out fine for the house. If you're having your house painted, I would use Clif.

Although I did not select Cliff Jones for the job, I found him to be very knowledgeable and helpful. He was very responsive to my questions. I am sure he would do an excellent job. His bid was just too high for my particular job.

Clif (Clif Jones Painting Company) promptly returned my call to set up a time and date for the proposal. He showed up on time and gave me a very fair quote. A couple of months later I hired him to do the job. He and his men (Jose', Mario, Santiago and Al) showed up on time on the scheduled date. Clif gave the instructions to his men and said he would come by on a daily basis to check on the progress of the job and that he did. All four men were very professional in going about their work. They were very courteous to me and treated my property with care and respect. Their work is very neat and meticulous giving attention to detail. The work was done in a timely manner. I couldn't be happier about how my house turned out. It looks fresh and beautiful!!! I would not hesitate to use them again. Thank you Clif, Jose', Mario, Santiago and Al.

I interviewed seven top rated painters from Angie's list (I am very particular re details and colors, and did alot of research. Clif's bid was not the lowest (he was in the middle price-wise), but I chose him because of the following reasons, all of which turned out to be correct: 1. He was extremely prompt in his response times all the way through. 2. He looked and listened carefully to all that I said and wanted. I was very comfortable with him from the beginning. He is very present and conscious, and I appreciate that. 3. He stressed his deep preparation , which turned out to be impressive ! I have lived in Many homes over the years, and have had MANY MANY paint jobs. Our current home was much overdue and really needed alot of prep. work ! He and his terrific crew did the most thorough and impressive preparation job that I have ever seen -- down to the bare wood and repairing where needed. 2. He said that he would be actively on the job each and every day, which he was. 3. His entire team has been with him for many years......they were all professional, competent, careful in all respects, honest and personable. 4. He uses top quality paints and materials, and was flexible where need be. 5. He is a wonderful color consultant, and has a good intuitive as well as experienced knowledge of color and combinations that work well. He gave me excellent input and was open and receptive to my thoughts and ideas. Ultimately, it was very clear that his investment lies in doing an outstanding job and making certain the customer is happy. 6. He was the only one, out of all 7 I interviewed, that told me from the beginning that his bid would be for a RESTORATION of our home, not just a good paint job. 7. Even though his bid was NOT the lowest, (it was in the middle), I feel we got our money's worth, and I am glad we chose him. Clearly he is accountable, reputable, completely responsible, and handled everything well, from start to finish. I would use him again in a heartbeat, and I most highly recommend him.

The work is very well done. Clif had promised he would be at the work site every day and he probably was though my expectation was that he would be there to start each day and that proved to be unrealistic. However, he is very prompt with emails to make sure you are up to speed and satisfied with the progress as the work continues. He also worked with us to select a contrast color for moldings and archways. It took 4 attempts to find the right color but Clif kept on it until we had what we wanted. His crew chief Marco took some extra time to make sure we could see the results of each color choice which we appreciated. We also ended up adding some additional work about half way through the project and Clif and his crew took the changes in stride. Once completed we had several instances where what appeared to be drips and discolorations appeared on one area of the walls. Clif had Marco make several trips to wash the surface (and has offered to come out as often as needed if it reappears) and had the paint company rep out to evaluate the issue. Overall, the process was well done. Expensive (it is a good sized house and property, though not huge), but Clif's bid was competitive and his work very well done. We have had numerous neighbors compliment us on the overall work done.

When Clif came to look at the job, it became clear very quickly that he had in-depth knowledge of staining and staining issues. He asked good questions, and pointed out specific problem areas in the stained wood. He discussed the options available to us for remedying or ignoring these problems and the pros/cons of each option. He told us when he could do the work, how long it would take, how the crew would approach the job, and later emailed us a proposal with the costs clearly identified. His was not the highest bid we received. He showed up on time with his crew, introduced them to us, and they set to work. As the day progressed, I became a little uncertain that the crew was proceeding as he had described earlier, so I called him. He volunteered to come over to take a look and arrived at the job shortly. He looked carefully at the work, talked with the crew and with us, and satisfied us that they were proceeding appropriately. It became clear that more light sanding would be necessary than he had originally estimated, so he added crew members to meet the deadline. His crew was terrific. They are very professional, very knowledgeable about their work, and very focused. They cleaned up thoroughly after each day's work, and they were all unfailingly well-spoken and cordial. Ultimately, Clif held to his cost estimate and his time commitment and provided us with beautifully stained wood elements around the exterior of our property. We could not be happier with his work.

Clif did a fabulous job, as always. He painted my first house 19 years ago. He painted the exterior on our current house originally when I bought it, and the paint lasted over 12 years before it was time to do it again. His crew does immaculate work. I will only use Clif to paint my house!

A few years ago,we remodeled our kitchen--it was a very poor remodel. The replacement cupboard fronts were a poor substitute for our original wood cabinets from1967.We lived with the look, then decided to make a difference without the inconvenience involved with replacing the cupboard fronts once again. Cliff Jones Painting Co to the rescue! Clif had painted the exterior of our home before. His work was exceptional. His workmen were courteous, professional and very thorough. Although we wanted the cupboards to look new--did not want to empty all of the shelves. The cupboard doors, both sides, were painted without our removing a single glass, plate or anything from many shelves and drawers in the kitchen or service area. One glass front cupboard of particular concern contained my grandmother's crystal (circa 1920). Not a problem--a bit dusty but undisturbed. Also painted were two bathrooms, a hallway, two story entry with wrought iron railinf=gs on staircase and landings. The railings were in very bad shape, Previous painting had been very poorly done leaving parts mostly with worn off paint and a very rough finish needing much sanding and smoothing. They are now perfect. The same workmen, who had also done the exterior painting worked wonders. We couldn't be more pleased..

My house had been covered with creeping fig for 15 years. It had essentially peeled off all the paint under the thick layer of vines. I had a tree removal service remove all the vines and then Clif' had 4 guys working on my house for 4 weeks. All of my old style sash windows needed reglazing, much of the concrete needed to be smoothed. The old wood siding was in decent condition, but it needed to be sanded intensely. Clif skim coated the wood with elastomeric to give it a smooth and protective finish and caulked the whole house to prevent moisture from getting in. His guys essentially did a total restoration on my exterior. While it was more money than I thought I'd have to pay for the job, there was a lot to do and the result is very satisfying.

This is the first bad review I have written and do not do so lightly...but feel it necessary in this case: The project was going along well until it was discovered there were paint spills on both the front and back decks (decks that were less than 3 years old)...one of the spills was significant. Clif tried to argue the spills were due to workers (not his) having lunch on the front deck, saying the spill looked like burrito juice despite the fact the spill was obviously due to paint because of the white paint stained shrubs nearby. Rather than acting responsibly, Clif was confrontational and difficult. It wasn't until it became blatantly obvious that it was due to paint and I withheld part of the final payment that he changed his mind and had his workers scrub and clean the deck. This process removed the aged color that had taken place over the previous three years along with the protection. The manner in which Clif handled this situation ruined what could have been a good experience. He had great workers that did great work, but his behavior at the end was unprofessional. I gave him every chance to remedy the situation until the end but he did nothing, basically forcing me to write this bad review.

Highly recommend -- very professional, prompt and great attention to detail. His crew is superb and went beyond their responsibility to make me satisfied. Yes, the estimate might be a bit higher than the rest, but you get what you pay for. If you want a finish and look "out of a magazine," choose them!

A++++ I highly recommend this company. Called Clif for an estimate and he responded promptly and made an appointment to come to my home. I liked him from the very start because he was thorough, professional, experienced, very knowledgeable and nice. I've also seen his company's sign at several other homes in our neighborhood (zip code 90064) so I knew this was a quality painting company. His estimate arrived shortly thereafter and, based on the other estimates I'd already received, was very reasonable and included high quality paints. We agreed on a start date and a week later his crew of four, (all English speaking men) with many years of experience together, arrived on time every day of the nearly two week job which was completed today - 9/25/2012. Their work was excellent and immaculate! Every night the exterior of our home and yard were spotless, and I mean spotless! Even in the 100 degree heat the crew was polite and hard working. I found their attention to detail in both prepping (and there was A LOT of wood and iron railings to prep) and painting very impressive. Clif came to our home three times throughout the process to check on the crew and my satisfaction. Our home looks fantastic and we've received many compliments from our neighbors. I couldn't be happier with the entire experience. Next year I'll call Clif Jones Painting to paint the interior of our home.

IN RESPONSE TO VENDOR'S COMMENT: Where did you get the idea that I wanted money back from the former painter? That is not true and I never said that. What I wanted to do was pay YOU to fix a minor (or so I would think) problem. I think any Angie's list member can appreciate the attitude of a painter who is too big for his overalls. I have a big exterior job to do on my house, but your short-sighted ego problem just nixed you out of that gig. I wound up hiring IDC painters and they were terrific.

Contacted Clif as one of 4 companies from Angie's list. Clif stopped by when he said he would and I immediately liked his "can do" and positive attitude. His estimate was not the cheapest, nor the most expensive. He spoke about the importance of prep work prior to painting which sold me on hiring his company as my home had not been painted in some time and required some work. The crew arrived early and immediately began to set up. They were quiet, industrious, and very polite. I usually do not enjoy having workers at the home, but they were not a bother. Clif was either at the house or called every day. I was completely impressed with the extensive preparation that was done on the house prior to painting. Quite a few areas were sanded all the way down to the original wood. Stucco repair was necessary and now no one can see that there was any damage at all. House was primed and then hand painted or rolled 2 times. The crew were quite accommodating as I chose to add some additional work mid way through the job. All the exterior sconces were removed and painted and then replaced. Although painted in similar colors, the house now looks completely different than before. It looks new and fresh and well taken care of. As stated by Clif, any dirt and dust that gets on the house is easily removed with a garden hose so the house continues to look new. I highly recommend Clif and his crew and will use them for interior work when that comes around. A job well done!

Clif Jones showed up with a "no problem, can do" attitude - and he sure did do! From start to finish. He gave me a start date and time and he and his crew showed up exactly on time. His crew did a beautiful job, both inside and out. And to top it off, every single worker was professional, polite, and completely unobtrusive. They showed up bright and early, on time every single day and worked hard, no goofing off, no loud music, no mess. I've had workers here for other jobs and never been as impressed as I was with Clif Jones' crew. And Clif himself showed up every other day to monitor the progress and make sure everything was going well. Last, but certainly not least, his price was very fair. I took the time to get estimates from 12 companies. Clif Jones wasn't the cheapest, but he wasn't the most expensive either. Having interviewed so many others, I knew that his price was the best for the high quality of work necessary for what was a big, difficult job. The house looks brand new, you'd never know there had been any cracks on the outside walls (and those cracks were BIG) and the interior is gorgeous too.This job took a full month, so I've had a lot of opportunity to see the quality of the work and the level of professionalism and Clif Jones and his crew get an A+ in every category. I intend to do more work on the interior in the near future and will most certainly go back to him. I'm recommending him to everyone I know as well as to my contractor.

We contacted Clif at Clif Jones Painting a week in advance to set up an appointment on the following Saturday. Cliff arrived on time and walked all three buildings. He was advised that at least one of the houses had not been painted in more than 25 years. Most of the eaves had cracked or peeling paint that exposed some of the wood. The stucco had cracks from either earthquakes or settlement. In other words, there was a massive amount of prep that needed to be done to get all surfaces ready for painting. Cliff provided an estimate on the same day.To be honest, we were a little shocked about the price of the estimate. The other estimates I received were less, but not as detailed as Clifs when it came to the prep. So I went back to Angie's List and re-read all the reviews. The common thread in each review was how thorough his company was in the prep work. Having painted several houses in the past, I realized that if the prep work is not done correctly, the paint job will magnify the flaws. I called Clif back on Monday and told him we accepted the estimate. The other reason I accepted the estimate is that Clif is licensed, bonded and also has workers comp insurance for his employees. I checked the California State Licensing Board web site to see if any company I hire has a current license, bond and workers comp insurance. According to this web site, the other companies I received estimates from did not have workers comp insurance because they didn't have any employees. Clif's crew started that Thursday at 7am (at our request). They were there every day, except for Sunday at 7am and left at 3 - 3:30pm. They finished the job in six days, which was amazing. Cliff would stop by every day to see how the work was progressing. If he saw something he didn't like, he had them fix it on the spot. Al, the foreman, and the other painters were terrific. They did an amazing job transforming the houses into works of art (yes, I mean that!!). The whole property has been transformed. It doesn't even look the same. Overall, our experience with Cliff and his crew was amazing. Cliff is extremely attentive to detail. He made certain that the white for the trim and sills matched the white on our aluminum windows. He even suggested that we stripe the awnings in gray to match the stucco. Since the houses went from beige and white and avocado green and white to blue/gray and white, the transformation is quite spectacular. The houses now pop instead of blending in with the landscaping. Words cannot express how happy we are that we chose Clif Jones Painting. Thanks, Clif!

I liked his good price, the workers and how clean they were. They were on time and prompt.

All the A's deserve to have pluses.. Completed job was absolutely excellent. They did not have the lowest bid, but the posted reviews made me believe they would be worth it. They were worth every penny. They will definitely be painting the inside of the house in the future. They were reliable from being on time for the first meeting to the clean up and touchup they did at the end.

The entire job from start to finish was much less traumatic than expected. Clif's workers were very polite and above all, very neat. The impact on our lives was minimal, despite having painters in several rooms of our house at any one time. They were personable as well, it was almost as if we had friends over to help us out by painting our home for us. The end result was beautiful, the painting and staining was flawless, and the clean up after was very thorough.
