Captain Kirk's Chimney Sweep Service

Captain Kirk arrived and quickly found a few issues and fixed them. He had the parts and knowledge to do the work quickly. He took pictures and showed the issues. Excellent work.

As the business chose not to contact me, I can only assume that it went well (for them.)

Got an appointment that was two weeks out - OK, it is the busy season for fireplace work. Tech showed up on time, inspected and cleaned the chimney, gave me a report . The job was very clean. I'd give them an A rating but for the price - $189 for a half hour of work. Yes, it is Marin Co. where everything is expensive. Yes, they have the same flat rate for houses that are 1 and 2 storey. Still I'm unhappy to pay so much for so little time.

Went well. Clean. Very competent. Knew his stuff.

Kirk cleaned and scoped the chimney. He calculated the dimensions of the chimney for the proper operation and showed me the design flaws I had in my chimney. He had many solutions and I chose the one that made most practical and economic sense for me. Most of all, he explained it all to me in layman terms and he was very patient with my questions. His scoping of the chimney was very impressive and he showed me where there were cracks or problems and then he fixed them. He was very clean with the service and left no dust, grit, or bad smells when he was done. There aren't many people in the service trades that have his work ethic and follow through based on educated skill. Kirk is not just your ordinary chimney sweep. I would recommend Kirk to everyone.

The overall service was excellent. Kirk arrived on time, was friendly and courteous, covered the fireplace and had a vacuum running the entire time. The work was completed quickly, there was no additional cleanup needed, and we will definitely use him again.

We contacted chimney sweeps in our area because we were noticing a strong odor in our living room. The fellow came, did an excellent job, used a camera to check out the chimney, got on the roof as well. He also gave me a contact for a company they use for glass windows for the chimney, but ours is so old that it's impossible to find windows that fit. He also pointed out a crack in the floor of the fireplace and gave advice on when we'd need to replace that. The problem of the odor, however, persists. I got online later that week and discovered that the problem we were having has to do with cool air meeting warm air in the chimney, and the smell being pushed back into our living room. I covered up the fireplace with some clear plastic since we won't be using it again for a few months. We can still smell it on some days. It would have been nice if a chimney sweep would have the knowledge of why the fireplace would draw well with a fire, but smell very bad with no fire. We live in and area that was getting very hot during the day and cooling sharply at night -- which seems to be the source of the problem.

Captain Kirk's worker arrived on time and performed the cleaning. The floor and fireplace were left in a clean condition. Then a bill was presented which included comments on the condition of the fireplace and the flue.

He did a good job.

He was on time, friendly, did a good job, all for a reasonable price.

He was good, thorough, and very professional.

I was very happy with the guy. I decided to postpone the project, but I will hire him in the future.

Tech was very late and then had to leave in the middle of the job to get bags for his vacuum cleaner. Inexperienced and un-organanized.

Captain Kirk performed the requested services and also gave us tips on starting our fires more easily.
