He is knowledgeable in construction. I have just retired after 32 years of service in the fire service. I have watched all these guys work in construction. He is a guy to go to if you need solutions to complications. That is his strong point. For handy man services he is expensive too. If I had somebody who is older with no arthritis but could move around I would have hired him to do minor stuff like hang some pictures on walls. For small jobs he is over qualified and expensive for small jobs. For big jobs he is fine. If your floor is collapsing due to structural integrity he is the guy to call. He is not the guy to call for a toilet paper holder. If I get some complicated repair I would call him in the future.
Description of Work: I used P's Handyman service. He installed a ceiling fan and repaired a rotten floor.

Response from P's Handyman Services Inc
Dear Member, I apologize that your call was not returned this past weekend. I did not understand why I'd received a message this past week from someone in San Pedro, given that it was not one of my areas. I've informed Angie's List numerous times in the past (most recently in past few months) the areas I want to represent; unfortunately, my company list is still not accurate. Your message brought this Angie's List error once again to my attention; I'll be speaking with them tomorrow. While I would love to work with all interested clients, commute time does not allow for it. I intended to call you Saturday to inform you that I do not service your area; with changing phones and Mother's Day, I got delayed. Once again, sorry you did not receive a return call sooner. I did leave message today. Pier

Pier and I have worked together in the past, and while there is a premium associated with going with an experienced contractor vs. a lower grade handyman, the piece of mind to ensure a job well done is worth the cost. The project started about a month prior to the construction start date of 4/18, with an initial walk thru and the sharing of ideas. After a month of rain spoiling our start date, we began the initial demo prep only to find that the sub-surface conditions were worse than anticipated. Pier and his associate Greg quickly devised a plan to work thru the problems, and purchased the appropriate materials/ supplies to really expedite the process. In all, the project took about 3 1/2 days, including final touch-ups, and the stair will be around for a very long time. Thanks Pier
Description of Work: We reviewed a damaged staircase and landing, formulated a plan to repair the condition, and retrofitted the damaged/ wood rot sub-structure and repaired the exterior stucco, waterproofing and decking

Pier did an excellent job. He completed the work and took the time, effort and energy to ensure that he treated our house just like it was his own. We've already identified additional projects for the house that we'd like Pier to take care of. We look forward to hiring Pier again.
Description of Work: Remove water damaged plaster from kitchen and pantry ceiling. Install new ½” drywall on kitchen and pantry ceiling. Remove approx 5’x7’ wall of water damaged plaster. Remove approx 2’x2’ area of water damage; plaster below both dining room windows. Install new ½” drywall to replace removed plaster. Patch, seal, prime and paint exterior of both dining windows. Replace and patch front exterior flower box attached to house.
Pier and his team was great! He quickly quoted various small projects around the house. One by one we have been checking them off this list. Most projects have been right on budget and all of them have been completed with the upmost quality. I would absoluty recommend Pier for a wide range of construction projects around the house.
Description of Work: My wife and I bought a home about 18months ago and there were various small project around the house that were beyond our capability to complete. From minor exterior stucco damage to dry wall and structural modifications.
It went very smoothly from the original estimate to the completion of the job. Pier is very knowledgeable about these types of jobs as well as almost all home repair related issues. We were very happy with the results of his work.
Description of Work: Resurface kitchen cabinets and repair small dent in wood floor.

Pier's work was outstanding. He actually installed a faucet with an on/off lever instead of the typical valve type. I had no idea there was such a thing, he was so thoughtful. This will be so much easier for me to operate. We had another estimate from about 6 months ago and Pier's pricing was right in line with that estimate. I had a great report and saw some work he did from a friend who lives in our mobile home park so I decided to go with Pier. He and his assistant got the faucets installed a week before he had anticipated being able to do the work. It only took 2 days and the work is superb. I can't wait for Pier to do my next project on a long "to do" list.
Description of Work: Pier installed two outdoor faucets at our manufactured house, one in front and one on the side.

All went excellently. Pier was able to come out, measure the openings, and order the gates immediately. Once they arrived, he was able to come right out and work on the demo and install. Any issues that were identified, such as the house wall being crooked, were quickly dealt with and the job was promptly completed.
Description of Work: Ordered vinyl gates for entry into the back yard and one for inside the back yard. Removed exiting gates and cinder block filler walls, then installed the new gates. They needed to be secured to the ground/house via cement and slightly modified to try and fit the opening correctly.

Hired Pier to do a fairly short list of items, which he priced out for me before starting. He showed up as scheduled, but my heart sank when he arrived with Claudio, his brother-in-law, whom, I was told, was going to do the actual work. My first thought was HERE WE GO AGAIN! ANOTHER GUY WHO GETS THE JOB, THEN IMMEDIATELY HANDS IT OFF TO SOMEONE ELSE! I asked Pier about it, and he assured me that Claudio was an excellent carpenter. Less than an hour into the first project, I could see that he was indeed excellent. He was also smart, clean and a joy to have around. I felt confident enough to add more projects to my list, which Claudio did beautifully. HOWEVER, my BIG mistake was not getting prices for all the things I was adding. So, after three days, when I got the bill for $3,005.00, I was shocked. This worked out to well over 100.00 an hour! As I had supplied most of the materials, this was mostly just for labor. Even the best carpenters I've hired in the last twelve months charged 45.00 an hour. I called Pier, quite angry, and he came over so we could discuss it. He explained that he (and Claudio) were the best, and that the best is expensive. And, because I just had Claudio do the added projects without discussing price, I really had no choice but to pay. Now, to Pier's credit, he knocked off 500.00 from the bill, which took some of the sting away. Bottom line: P's Handyman Service does top-notch work, but it's EXPENSIVE.
Description of Work: Baltic plywood cabinet doors, plywood access doors for two areas, toe-kicks in kitchen, trim bottom of front door, trim badly sliding closet doors, other small jobs.
We own a condo in a beautiful Spanish-style building built in 1928. Because of plumbing issues with the neighbor above us, there was a gaping hole in the ceiling of our bathroom where her contractors had to knock out in order to repair her pipes. Due to the water damage, 2/3rds of our ceiling (basically the circumference of her bathtub) had to be pulled out and the drywall repaired and painted. When Pier arrived to begin the work, he had the upstairs neighbor run her water for a 5 min. continuum to ensure there was no further leakage before he patched everything up. As he is very thorough, he also noticed that the walls surrounding our tub (from the ceiling until the point of tiling begins) was also completely destroyed due to the water damage. He also pulled that out and repaired it. He then repainted our whole room with the color/selection of our choice. We have an old fashioned tub that requires an "L" shaped shower rod. The rod we had was old and sagged in the middle. Pier installed a new one. Looks great! The last thing he set his sights on was the bath tub faucet which would continue to gush water when the shower head was engaged. This led to new fixtures and the not-so-shocking discovery of out-of-date, unserviceable plumbing (i.e., valves) in some of the communal areas of the complex. Of course, what ensued after this uncovering was an ugly affair involving the HOA and a few neighbors. Through it all ? all the hiccups that kept him here longer than he expected and all the meanness and lack of cooperation from our neighbor ? Pier was polite, friendly and completely honest and forthcoming with information we needed. The work he did was impeccable. He made sure the work was done RIGHT. We really appreciated his attention to detail. Pier receives our highest praise and recommendation. He's the best!

We have used Pier last October to install all new windows in our home and he did an excellent job that time. Prior to that, we had used him many times, always with excellent results. He removed the old vinyl tile floor, installed ceramic tile, and replaced an old exterior door with a new fiberglass one. Pier made several excellent suggestions about where to buy the tile (ended up saving us $350 in materials cost) and what type of door to buy (one with a window that lets in lots of natural light to the hallway which previously was very dark). He was on time, worked with my wife's schedule to move the washer and dryer temporarily, and even fixed the dryer vent when he noticed that it was clogged with lint. We couldn't be happier, and plan to have him come next week to paint the hallway. The attention to detail that he brings to a job is just fantastic.
Description of Work: Replaced a vinyl hallway floor with ceramic tile and replaced and re-keyed an exterior door.
I couldn't be more pleased. Great work and will use and recommend him from here on out. I had some other repairs that needed done and Pierre took care of them that day. Just amazing to have such great care and willingness to take care of his client. I won't have to shop for this type of contractor again. Thanks. I used him because of great reports on Angies list and so glad I did. I add to it.
Description of Work: Excellent! I appreciate the experience and knowledge Pierre brought to the project. I had my vision and he made it even better. He showed up every day on time and finished on time and the project was completed in the time estimated. Beautiful work, kept the house as clean as possible during the job and cleaned up daily. Great work ethic and pleasure to work with. Recommend highly

Pier is the most responsive handyman I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. This was a small job, but he treated it as though it was his only job. After inspecting the area in which we wanted the cabinet installed, he assured us that it would not be a problem. In fact, he said that, "When I am done, you won't even know I was here." True to his promise, the only evidence that he was here is the installed cabinet!

Pier came out on Monday, looked over the job, and gave us a bid. He called back Monday night to say he could do the job starting on Tuesday. He came on Tuesday morning and started the job. On Thursday, he wrapped up the job. The gutters work great. He called the night of our first rain after the installation, I went outside to check and everything was working great. The water barrel completely filled with that first couple of rains. Pier always does a complete and professional job.
Description of Work: Pier installed about 41 feet of white aluminum rain gutters on two garages that back onto our yard and installed a rain barrel fill line from one of the downspouts. He cleaned out another rain gutter that hadn't been cleaned out in about ten years. He also painted the inside and outside of two doors that he rebuilt for me recently (I thought I'd do the painting myself but didn't).

He was professional, but, too expensive. He was punctual for the quote process and emailed me the quote. I did not use his services only because of the price and advised him, that, I used someone else for the job as they were reasonable. I may not use his services in the future again.
Description of Work: I received an estimate from P's Handyman to tile the basement and add base boards, about 2 weeks ago.
He did a very fine job and the neighbor was quite happy with the work he did for them. That incident was about $700 and the work he did around here was about $800. We saw him in the newsletter because he was featured, and I highly recommend him. The price was pretty reasonable.
Description of Work: P’s Handyman patched drywall, installed a towel rack, did some painting, and repaired a large hole in the roof of a property that my wife owns. He also repaired the fascia board on the home of a neighbor who got hit by part of a falling tree from my wife’s property.

The work performed was of the utmost quality. We were amazed at the attention Pier paid to the smallest detail. A first class job was done from start to finish. We are extremely satisfied and will definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Pier did a small project for us in December and, because we were so impressed with his work, we asked him to undertake our bathroom shower. He tore out the old shower and put in a new shower pan and made the shower larger. He installed tile, on a diagonal, with a pattern and installed two built-in shampoo shelves. Put in all new plumbing and a new suro shower door.
On time, perfectionist when it came to his work. His helper was very polite and respectful. Both worked at a good pace, and did not hurry to get done. They did professional work and were also personable. They did a great job on adding wood transition pieces to the wood flooring already in place. Tile work was high quality. Pier called my husband the next day to see if we were happy and if there was anything he needed to come back and do better.
Description of Work: Repaired door with track and added a frame and painted, installed. Added wood floor transition pieces to door ways. Tightened screws and secured many hooks, etc Replaced balcony door weather stripping and repaired and painted door handle to metal patio door rebuilt and installed painted and moved tracking for a door system inside a closet. Cleaned out and replaced broken tiles in kitchen on tile counter. Re grouted part of kitchen tile. Sealed grout in kitchen installed wet vac holder in closet did minor electrical work on a plug outlet there were a few more project that I cannot remember ....

The job was done right and professionally. I was very satisfied.
Description of Work: Repaired 2 fence gates and fence planks
Pier was very responsive to my initial phone call and did not hesitate to answer any and all of my questions. Within several days, he had provided a written estimate, and several days later he was at my home ready to work. Pier was involved in all of the work - didn't just send in a team, he does the work himself; how refreshing! Any necessary furniture was moved, and any potentially exposed surfaces were covered. The work was done very well and timely. He cleaned up any mess and left my home in great shape. Not only is the quality of his work good, but it's obvious you can trust him. I do think he is expensive, and I did have another quote for less from another service, but if you take a few minutes to read the reviews on Angie's List for P's Handyman Service (which is Pier), you won't be wanting to call anyone else. Quality and respect - that's what you get from Pier.
Description of Work: Removed two layers of window tinting from four angled interior skylights, patched, sanded and painted around the skylight frames; replaced loose molding on a wood cabinet; sanded and repainted the inside of a window that is exposed to the elements; added weather stripping to front door; fixed a ceiling light; some light touch up interior painting; and re-caulked the kitchen sink.
My experience with Pier was very good. He provided a written estimate and was able to complete the work requested in a timely fashion. I would highly reccomend Pier.
Description of Work: Repaired 2 gates, including electrical latching mechanism, reinforced hinges, painted new wood replacement peices. Additionally asked Pier to clean/paint old exterior light fixtures, which looked like new when completed.

Very well. some of the work we had Pier do required legit carpentry and contracting skills (which he did well), some of it was just silly little tasks that we never seemed to get around to. Nice to be able to go one place to get all these things done, and done well. Pier was not the cheapest person we talked to, but his professionalism and approach won the day, money well spent. Definitely good value for the $$. Also very nice and easy to work with, continually asking for feedback regarding the quality of the job and our satisfaction. Very pleased with job, would hire again.
Description of Work: Had a variety of tasks around the house that we just never seemed to get around to. Prior owners were do-it- yourself-ers, and not too bad either. That said they clearly cut a few corners and after a few years a few things were starting to show some wear and tear. Pier and his associate fixed a gate that was starting to get a bit tippy, replaced a picket fence on our front step that had become infested with dry rot, straightened out a door that never quite hung from it's hinges right (and stuck) and fixed a few minor exterior lighting/electrical issues. Plus a few other little things.
We have used Pier for several smaller projects in the past, and due to his always-excellent performance, we asked him to undertake this much more extensive job. He was on time with his crew and did the work to perfection. We opted to replace the windows in our house with Milgard energy-efficient windows due to the rebate from the Government and an additional rebate from the manufacturer. Instead of the more common (and less costly) option of windows that fit in the existing frames, we opted (at Pier's recommendation) to do a complete "nail in" or construction windows. This necessitated cutting the stucco about a foot around the existing windows, taking out the old windows and casings, installing the new windows, installing flashing and weatherproofing, and re-applying the stucco. Pier told us that when he was done, it would never appear that any construction had been done. He was right! He matched the stucco and the paint perfectly, and the interior woodwork and casing were beautiful as well. I can't say enough about his ability, attention to detail, and willingness to make every detail right. We are very satisfied and will continue to use him again.
Description of Work: Replacement of windows in our 1970's era house.
