The man is an artist. If you want cheap, fast and passable; this is not your man. If you want beautifully done, details attended to, will last in great condition; Pier and his staff are the ones to call. He also helped keep our sanity, helping us to deal with each adversity as it came up. Nice guy, nice staff and KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. We not only were happy with what he did, we were kept fully informed, we were educated on what to look for in future work and were left a clean and beautiful space. He also promised to come make any corrections that will be needed as the cabinet supplier and others make good on the parts they did wrong. He took time to make all estimate changes clear and the final accounting was quickly and accurately accomplished. Thanks Pier and Greg.
Description of Work: What started as a request for Pier to install already ordered appliances and cabinets in our kitchen became an odyssey of what showed up behind the old cabinets, lots of work that others had botched, cabinet makers that had sent boxes made wrong, with wrong dimensions and all kinds of other problems that Pier helped us deal with. He straightened out electrical, plumbing, plastering and tiling messes. He made our cabinets look magazine quality. He also helped us keep the vision of building a kitchen that will be easy for my husband (our main cook) to work in as he moves more from a standing cook to one working from a wheelchair. If you are uncertain if an idea will work, ask Pier, he will provide great options.

The job took one full day and parts of several additional days for Pier and another worker. He said that he had extensive home building experience and he did appeared to know exactly how to do this job correctly and completely. I was very pleased with the result. UPDATE 8/29/2012: My husband is much more easy-going than I am. Thurs. Sept 8: Cancels at the last minute. On Friday my husband took the day off from work. Pierre came in the morning and left for another job. Called at 550 that he would not be able to come back to complete the job. He was supposed to come at 830 on Saturday. He came on Saturday and apologized for not being able to complete the job. My husband took off work early on Thursday to meet with Pierre. Sept 19: There was a problem with the garage door. The assistant was there sawing some wood. Apparently the wood wasn't very flush because the wood was blocking our garage door sensor, not allowing it to close, but the assistant didn't know what he was doing. He kept opening and closing the garage door until he burned out the motor. The assistant's phone wasn't working, so he was unable to call Pierre. He had us call Pierre on our own dime. This was at 9 pm. We called Pierre to ask that he come out, but he said he couldn't come because it was too late. I talked to him and made him come. My husband had to manually open and close the garage door the next day at 6 or 7 in the morning. Pierre came back the next day to put in a new motor. My husband had to program it himself. This was all because his assistant opened and closed our garage door about 30 times. Sept. 22: He said he'd be there between 4 and 5 pm, but he did not show up or call. He ended up showing up at 5:52 without calling. This is completely unacceptable. My husband is a very easy-going person, but this experience caused him a great deal of stress. Seeing my husband go through this stress was enough to convince me not to work with Pierre again. I don't want another wife, or any one else for that matter, to go through what we went through.
Description of Work: We initially needed an estimate to have some large wood trim boards around two front windows and the garage replaced due to termite damage. The replacement boards were primed 2x8s, 2x6s and a 2x12 redwood boards. Once the damaged boards were removed to expose the structural studs in the wall, the job was reassessed for additional work and the estimate revised. One of the windows had to be removed in order to replace several termite damaged studs supporting the window as well as an adjacent stud. Replacing the studs required cutting open the outside wall and some of the interior drywall. After replacing the studs and reinstalling the window, the outside wall was patched and stucco'ed and the drywall patched. Additional repairs added once the job started included reattaching a rafter beam above a window, repairing an outside wall trim board and installing flashing to patch a large hole in the wall trim left opened by the house builder. After everything was installed outside, they touched up the primed boards and caulked.

Pier and his assistant put in a solid 10-hour workday, then came back Saturday morning on time to finish the job.
Description of Work: Previous contractor left job half-done. Pier fixed a rusting drain pipe, re-set the sink in its cabinet, installed new faucets and tinkered with the faucet handles until they worked flawlessly. He also installed a new shower rough-in valve, finish valve and shower head, then flawlessly patched the hole he needed to cut in the drywall to get to the rough valve.

We have used Pier many times in the past for projects large and small and have always been extremely satisfied. This time, we needed to purchase a new refrigerator for our kitchen. He removed the old unit and found the lowest price possible for the new one (believe me, I checked and couldn't find a lower price anywhere!) and installed it. The new unit was slightly taller than the old one, but he modified the cabinets with such skill that the new refrigerator looks like it was the original installation. He also assembled a dresser that we bought and he did it much better than their own assembly people do. Finally, he repaired our heating/air conditioning duct-work that had been somehow disconnected in our attic. All the work was done to his usual top standard and he was very accommodating on the schedule, coming in the evening as he was so busy with other jobs in the daytime. As always, I recommend Pier highly. BTW, that picture on his coupon in the Angie's List magazine is not him; he is much better looking in person!
Description of Work: Installed new refrigerator in kitchen, assembled a dresser, repaired duct-work.

After moving into my townhouse, I discovered many electrical and plumbing problems which Pier and Greg were able to diagnose and fix. The quality of work was outstanding and working with Pier and Greg was very pleasant. It took several days to complete all the little projects, and Pier was very good at communicating his progress. Work areas were left clean and organized. I will be using P's handyman service for future projects, as Pier knows both fixing and remodeling.
Description of Work: We had numerous services done by Pier. He installed a hardwood floor in a walk-in closet and removed obstacles that made the closet larger and more usable. He installed a French door in a difficult space and that improved the look of our kitchen enormously. He installed a new kitchen sink, a new garbage disposal, and re-plumbed where previous plumbers had left extra pipes that were useless. He re-plumbed the downstairs bathroom that had the original plumbing from around 1925 (this was true of the kitchen as well). We had a granite counter top installed and we plan to have Pier replace the kitchen floor tile and remodel our 2 bathrooms when time and budget will allow us to do this. We have had many contractors work on our home over 45 years of living here and Pier has been the best. He is always determined to do the best job possible and besides, his excellent work, he has become a friend. Debbie Jean
Pier and his team did an excellent job in all facets of the job. Pier was, very good at communicating throughout the whole project, and giving us good information and advice which allowed us to make good decisions on what we purchased, and on the final design of the bathroom. Pier and his helper did all the plumbing, the electrical, the work on the floor and walls, and the tiling work and we were kept aware of each step as it happened. Pier is a real craftsman and he has a fine attention to detail in his work. We are very happy with the finished bathroom and would certainly use Pier again, and would recommend him to those we know.
Description of Work: Pier came out on the day scheduled, and looked over our bathroom project and the next day he e-mailed a complete description of the job with a price estimate. He honored his Angie's List discount of 5%. Work started on the day scheduled ,and involved rebuilding the floor and removing everything in the old bathroom and installing a new shower with tile, tile floor, toilet, vanity, lighting, and other fixtures. With a holiday off, and a one day delay by the glass providers, the project finished pretty much right on schedule.
Mr. Pier Angeli and his assistants did a timely and professional job on the range of handyman projects described in the services list above. Work was completed per estimates provided and on agreed upon schedules. Cleanups were done at end of each workday and project completions, Mr. Angeli provided useful suggestions and flexibilities in work throughout the schedule. His versatility was proven in handling the range of projects described. In summary -- I would be pleased to recommend P's Handyman Service for projects similar to those described.

Ok maybe I over wrote in the first paragraph... my story is complete. Piers is a good guy and I'll use him in the future.
Description of Work: My garbage disposal had become jammed, with what I thought were small pebbles that slipped out of a plant as I watered it. I struggled to remove all the pebbles but just could not dislodge the final few jammed under one of the blades. When I called Piers, he made an appointment for the very next morning. He arrived a bit late but called to make sure I would still be available and that he had not forgotten me. When he arrived he quickly got to work. After trying to dislodge the pebbles he too was unsuccessful... so the dispossal had to come out. That happened quickly. Lots of pulling and twisting and several minutes later and several extra pebbles he popped out a half inch piece of copper electrical wire. It must have been there since construction of my Condo & the pepples finally jammed it. There was also a missing rubber gasket. that too was repaired. My disposal works like a champ, thank you Piers. I plan to have you back to make the adjustment to the sink pipe. Possibly some tile work in the bath.

I initially contacted Pier about two months ago and he set up a time to come by after telling me he was very booked. I took time off to wait for him that day and he called the morning of and told me he could not make it that day--He told me he would contact me to reschedule and he never did. I called him back a few weeks later and he said he was busy and would call me back. He never did. I decided to call him again a few weeks later since he had such positive feedback on this site. I called him and he apologized and said he would get backto me with his schedule and HE NEVER DID! I have wasted two months trying to get a hold of him. Meanwhile my work is not completed!
Description of Work: We had various jobs to be completed around the house including cabinets to be redone.

Yes, it was unfortunate that I had to cancel once we had set an initial meeting. That week I had numerous jobs fall behind due to unforeseen problems with the jobs (e.g., plumbing problems once we opened walls that clients did not realize existed). And, I did intend to try to fit time in for your bid. As I recall, however, you told me to wait a few weeks–I believe you went on vacation. I believed you would contact me once you returned.....I'm sorry we did not connect. However, I do not feel it is accurate or appropriate to put the blame for a 3 month delay on me--if a contractor does/cannot get back to you in a time frame with which you area comfortable, you should seek other options. Good luck w/your projects. Pier

We had originally scheduled for Pier to come on Monday 8/29/11 to replace a non-functioning electrical outlet and install a brand new outlet, both located on our patio. Unfortunately we had a PVC sprinkler water line break and had to shut off the water to the entire house on a Saturday evening (8/27/11). We called Pier on that Saturday evening and he came by our house first thing on Sunday morning (8/28/11). Pier replaced the cracked PVC water line fitting and installed the two new electrical outlets on the patio at the same time, that way he didn't have to come back the next day as originally scheduled. The $250 cost of the plumbing work was a little bit more than what we had expected it to be, but it was an emergency call and he did come by on a Sunday to do the repair. As expected, the work went very well. Dependable and quality work as usual. We will definitely consider hiring Pier for work that is needed in the future.
Description of Work: Replaced a non-functioning electrical outlet on patio ($100). Installed an additional new electrical outlet on patio ($150). Replaced a cracked PVC sprinkler line fitting ($250).

Pier did a great job. His bid was very reasonable. The best of them all. He started and finished the job on time. His employees were punctual and clean. They were obiously very knowledgable and efficient. Any time I needed to talk to Pier he either answered my call immediiatly or returned my calls within a few minutes. The work he did was quality work. His work passed the inspection of the city inspectors. I am very satisfied with the work he did and and will confidently recomend him to friends and family. Great job Pier. Thanks again!
Description of Work: The roof of the garage was removed. The base board on the foundation of the garage was cut out and replaced. The walls of the garage that were buckling under the weight of the roof were reenforced. The the south wall of the garage that was 3 inches off the foundation was fastened to the foundadtion and realigned. A completely new roof was placed on the reenforced wallls. New shingles were placed on the roof. Finally, the wiring from the house to the garage was run underground. When the job was done Long Beach City inspectors certified the job.

We had the house re-piped and Pier repaired the walls opened up for the re-piping, plus moved an electrical outlet which required a little finesse. The plumbers finished on Wednesday and Pier showed up Thursday and was finished by Friday afternoon. The job was first-rate, and he cleaned up at completion. I will definitely use Pier again.

We had a very positive experience. Pier and his crew were always prompt and Pier made sure to touch base with us daily to explain the progress. I know the job was big but Pier and his crew never rushed or cut corners to get the job done. It is done right and will last. I already have the next project planned. Hal and Wendy
Description of Work: Pier is a genius. He took a job that had been turned down by 2 previous contractors. The job was big with the removal, replacement and painting of the fascia boards on a two story house with existing gutters and a tile roof. He also repaired a leaking window that to date no one been able to repair. In the process of the repairs he ran into several obstacles which a 30 year old home naturally has but he was always able to find the best solution to the unexpected problems. He dealt with everything in a very professional manner as did the people he had working with him. Each day he and his crew cleaned up as if the job was completed. Like a friend said they do everything but mop. Several reviews rated the expense as high but when you think of the excellent workmanship and the quality products Pier uses the expense is in line with outcome of the project. No matter what the job this man has the skill and experience to get it done right. Hal and Wendy

We contacted Piers on Friday and he was able to come on Monday to do the job. Came Monday afternoon and finished the same day. Very detailed and very professional. Very competent.
Description of Work: Our bathroom floor was falling apart and needed to be replaced. Pier's tore out the old vinyl and old flooring. Repaired floor and installed new vinyl and reinstalled toilet.
My well-meaning relative attempted to install a new hot water heater in my house. He could not complete the connection to the hot water side for reasons he could not discover. The problem Pier discovered was a nearly invisible leak in corroded and severely plugged galvanized pipe on the hot water connection side. Pier responded quickly to my urgent call for help by opening the wall, replacing the corroded pipe section and repairing the wall neatly. This is the fourth installation and/or repair that Pier has done for us. He's honest, prompt and fair in his pricing. I have no need to ask for estimates from others. I trust Pier and will call him again.

Pier contacted us promptly, did the job the next week, worked very hard, and produced a perfect product.
Description of Work: Pier did a fabulous job repairing our deteriorated french doors and side windows. The job ended up being more work than originally expected because the doors had not been properly installed years ago. Pier made the doors and windows "better than new." He is one of those folks who is determined to do excellent, high-quality work. He doesn't settle for just making things "look" good.
