Pier replaced the door panel with a new solid wood door with glass panels in the upper half. The old frame was in reusable shape but it was necessary to install a new, slightly raised threshold to eliminate a previous water problem. He finished off the job by completely weatherstripping the door. Pier and his helper were professional, courteous, friendly and efficient. The next time I have work done around here, he will be the first person I call. Rick W.
Description of Work: The job required replacement of an exterior door that was suffering from terminal dryrot.

Pier and Greg did a great job! I wasn't in a hurry to get the job done, just wanted quality work. With the initial contact, Pier indicated that he had a full schedule, but that if I could wait a couple weeks, he'd swing by to check out the small projects I had. True to his word, he came by and after reviewing my request, gave me an estimate and said he would get back to me in a couple of days to schedule a work day, which he did. He stated that the job would take less than a day and he was correct on that too. I was out doing other activities by that afternoon! When the project was finished, I was impressed at how well they cleaned up after each of the work areas. I give him bonus points for being part of the work crew (he doesn't just delegate work out to others, he worked along side Greg). I appreciated that he took on my small jobs, his professionalism, the prompt response (he did not forget about the project), the quality of work completed, and that one would barely know that any construction had gone on at the house by the time they were finished (clean up). Overall, they did what I asked and all is working as hoped (tested the functionality of each item), and am very satisfied with the work performed.
Description of Work: Had the kitchen range hood vent pipe replaced (to meet building standards), a new bathroom fan installed (none existed prior), and a kitchen GFCI outlet installed.

Pier was a pleasure to talk to. We discussed the remodeling of my kitchen and bathrooms and he sent me his estimate in a timely manner; however, my vision of what I wanted everything to look like fit better w/another company. I would call him again if I could use his services.

Using Angie's List I selected P's Handyman (Pier Angeli) to refurbish my 2 sink cabinet. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave me many good ideas. I could go on and on about about the quality of work and Pier's professionalism but I'll cut to the chase. I had a 2nd cabinet in my hallway that I was 100% certain I wasn't going to refurbish but after seeing the beautiful cabinet that Pier created I had no choice but in having him also refurbish this 2nd cabinet. I'm also having him re-plumb my bathtub and replacing my water-heater. Angie's list has a commerical where the actor says, "Angie, I have her on speed dial". I have Pier on speed dial. I'm very thankful that for the many small jobs that I need to get done that I can turn to a professional with the highest degree of quality standards. Pier was also able to fix my side door leading to the garage. If you choose to hired Pier, you won't be sorry.

This is the second time I have used P's handyman service and everything was done to perfection. I work full-time so it is so nice to leave a key and trust that problems will get fixed while I'm working! Pier was able to diagnose my plumbing leak very quickly which minimized the water damage. In addition to fixing the leak in the drain line, the toilet that was causing the problem had to be installed properly. I also had some pipe/drains under the kitchen sink that were installed incorrectly. Pier was able to bring the drain lines to code by reworking the pipes under the sink. After everything was fixed, the holes were dry-walled and everything cleaned. Pier and Greg do quality work and Pier's vast knowledge of all house systems (last time he worked on electrical work for me) makes him my go-to handyman. He knows it all and is dependable and trustworthy.

They did a good job for me. They are not cheap but they are good. My overall experience with them has been good.
Description of Work: I used P’s Handyman for installing a fan and vent through the roof. They took care of replacing a drain and a bath tub too.
Pier took down the wall so the plumber could do his work. Pier came back and replaced the two windows in the bath and put up a new tile walls in the bath/shower. I am so pleased with his work. I intend to use him in the future.
Description of Work: Had to have the plumbing replaced behind the wall of the bathroom shower. The wall had to be removed. After the plumber's work was finished, Pier put the bathroom back into shape. He did a great job and was very punctual.
Pier brought his helper, Greg to work on the pocket door and other small projects. Part of the original problem, as mentioned above, was the former "contractor" put in a new toilet with a rough in that did not fit the bathroom. Therefore, the toilet stuck out from the wall, about 3 inches, and prevented the door from swinging inward as it had always done. Even though I was now solving the door issue, by having Pier install a pocket door, Pier gave me the option of making this situation right all the way around by having the actual sewer line moved back towards the wall by 3 inches. I agreed so Greg went under the house and a few hours later, the toilet now sat back against the wall, as it should. I had suggested moving the sewer, to the former "contractor" 2 1/2 years ago but he was not interested in making the job more involved. Pier's attitude was much different - let's make it right - was Pier's focus and I like that! I have taken pride in my family home, ordering speciality hinges, faucets, etc., so it is nice to find someone who will respect the effort I am putting into my home and do work that is high quality. The pocket door works great, not one tile, on the bathroom wall, was distrubed. The original 1944 wood frame for the hallway cabinet had been removed, by Pier, and put back as if it was never touched. I was left with the painting, acccording to my wishes. Pier & Greg cleaned up any kind of mess each day. I added the job of hanging my doors that I had painted, in the bedroom and closets. This was not a problem for Pier - he had a great attitude. Pier receives many calls for estimates, while on the job, and he keeps working. Some potential customers treat him as if he has a secretary and complain that he does not return calls fast enough or is late for an appointment, yet all the while, he is in someone's home doing a great detailed job. I was flexible with my time so I had absolutely no problem if Pier was delayed by an hour or so. When he came, he had the supplies needed to get the job done, worked hard, cared about every inch of the project and was extremely personable. He is FULL of stories! Pier is not cheap but nor do I want a cheap finished result. I want it done right and am willing to pay for the skill required to do it right the first time! I will be having Pier come back, some day, to build me a custom shed in my back yard and possibly redoing the kitchen tile work that was done so crooked by the former "contractor."
Description of Work: Pier was asked to put a pocket door, into a hallway cabinet, adjacent to my small 1944 bathroom. A former "contractor" botched the job by not considering the rough in required when installing a new toilet - that was 2 1/2 years ago. The former "contractor" then installed the original bathroom door so that it swung OUT into the hallway thus blocking the hallway cabinet. I hated it and finally called someone, with great reviews on Angie's list, to improve the situation. Pier gave me a quote on the pocket door project and a few small projects from my "Honey Do" list such as boring out holes for new door knobs, hanging a shelf, installing a new mail box, fixing a cupboard hinge that was malfunctioning. Once we agreed to do the projects, Pier kept me well informed as to his time frame of when he could show up. He was delayed by a week or so, but that worked out perfect for me, as I was trying to remove, sand, prime and paint the remaining interior doors so that Pier could rehang them for me, with my new ball hinges, in a brushed nickel finish, that I had ordered. Once Pier was on the job, he found many other items botched by the former contractor, such as shower handle levers that were loose and wobbly because the right handle was on the left and visa versa. Pier fixed the faucet handles, tightened the wobbly faucet in the kitchen and repaired my cracking caulk around the tub - that had not been sealed properly in the past. Pier was on the job, in my house, for 3 days.

Pier is great! He is professional and knowledgeable in many areas. He has always been available to answer questions when I call and offers a ton of suggestions. Pier & his team are prompt & neat when it comes to the actual work. I will definitely be hiring him to work on future projects at my place.
Description of Work: When I started looking for a handyman, I immediately looked to Angie's List. I have had great luck using A.L. in the past, so I knew I would find someone great. I had a number of small jobs that needed to be done at my place (broken drawer, ill-fitting gate lock, shower temperature valve) and will definitely have things that come up in the future, so I wanted to find someone who was knowledgeable in a variety of areas. Pier is definitely that guy! He also created an access point for my attic which has been closed up since the place was build back in the 70s!

Response from P's Handyman Services Inc
Member, We did two jobs for you. First, we installed a new screen door, as the previous installation (done by another contractor) was poor and you were unhappy with it. You indicated when we finished that part of the work that you were very happy it. Second, you hired us to install fencing in the backyard towards the alley. As you likely recall, we were unable to complete this job, as your neighbor came down the day of the installation and threatened to call the police if we finished the fencing. Your neighbor indicated that you wanted this fence on HER property (over the property line). You spoke with your attorney; you told me he suggested we stop work. Thus, we could not finish the fence installation; however, it was beyond our control. So, I was shocked to read your report. What exactly about our work was not satisfactory? Your report is misleading, not accurate, and inappropriate. P's Handyman

We were very satisfied with our experience working with Pier. He was very responsive to our wishes during the planning and implementation of the project. We were not on site for the actual work and Pier kept us informed of the progress and the inevitable problems which arose, consulting us and then handling the issues. Pier is committed to quality workmanship and overall results and thus does not lowball his advice and estimates........you know what you are getting into.

The project included the removal and disposal of existing flooring and entailed significant floor leveling and appropriate baseboard replacement (cost of tile materials not included). This guy is into the deals. To me it is the small stuff that we take for granted and don't realize but for Pier its just the way he does business. You'll not be disappointed. Go ahead give him a call. He doesn't pressure you and gives sound advice. He estimated 2 days but ended up coming a third day due to the unexpected time it took to clean up the glue left behind under the floor that the last guy never scrapped off.
Description of Work: I hired Pier to rehab my guest bathroom. Ripped out old vinyl tile flooring and baseboards. Painted walls and vanity along with installing new flooring, ceiling fan and hardware. .
Overall, from the inital quote to the completion of the job I was VERY impressed with Pier's responsiveness and professionalism. Immediately (about 1 day) after calling Pier, he quoted me with a price and detailed everything that he can do for me. After I agreed, he was able to make it out 2 days later and complete the entire project in only 4 hours. His energy and know how gave me the confidence to want to continue to work with him in the future.
Description of Work: 1. Remove 2 upper kitchen cabinets 2. Move electrical plug over and down for hood vent; check electrical wiring for plug outlet. 3. Patch hole, mud, tape and sand. 4. Install new back panel hood vent cabinet. 5. Install 2 upper cabinets in new location 6. Supply and install power cord for hood vent.

Pier was quickly able to determine the origin of the upstairs water leak - a shower drain improperly installed when the house was built. We replaced the fiberglass shower and all the materials that were damaged by the water. Pier has exceptional attention to detail - for instance when the first paint match wasn't perfect, he tried again. The repair in the downstairs ceiling is inperceptable. All of the work was quickly completed and we were kept informed throughout the process.
Description of Work: First task was to determine the origin of an upstairs water leak. That involved holes in the downstairs ceiling. Once the source was determined, a fiberglass shower needed to be replaced. All finish work to close the holes, install the shower, etc was completed. Cosmetic detail was exceptional. Pier kept us informed at every step, was punctual and very easy to work with.

To sum it up for those of you that don't want to read a lengthy review, I was VERY pleased. Pier made a trip out to take a look at the project that I wanted done and gave me a estimate that I considered to be very fair. On the day the work was to begin, Pier and Greg showed up in a timely manner and set to work. The entire project ended up taking three days, and I was very pleased that at the end of each work day, they picked up and swept up any and all debris. The end project was much more involved than was first anticipated, resulting in a totally customized cabinet. Additionally, Pier made several "corrections" and additional repairs for me during this project. (i.e, sealing a hole that had been left in my garage wall from someone doing sprinkler work and re-doing some plumbing from a pre-existing water softener.) Pier was very good about asking what I wanted and offering his ideas for me to consider, but the decisions were always mine to make. These tasks resulted in a higher cost than the original estimate, but I expected that. Pier always asked if I wanted any of these additional tasks completed, and I assumed that it would mean an additional expense. I appreciated Pier's easy going, yet professional demeanor. It is easy to tell that he knows what he is doing. Will I used Pier again - definitely. Will I recommend Pier - already have. Thanks Pier!! Thanks Greg!!
Description of Work: Remove existing built in work bench and build two new storage cabinets in garage, including a floor, ceiling and shelves, using owner supplied 8 foot sliding doors. Cabinets were built using 3/4" plywood and sheetrock. One cabinet is14' long, the other is 8' long.
Description of Work: I hesitate to write another report, only because it will result in making Pier even busier than he already is and not exclusively my go-to guy for all of my repair, refurbish and home-building needs. Pier and his wonderful crew recently built thresholds for my two front doors, restuccoed and repainted the entire outside of my house after it was botched several years ago by one of those giant remodeling companies, and repaired two iron gates. Pier is creative, thoughtful, professional, and amazingly conscientious. His prices are fair and reasonable, and he always cleans up when he is finished. Best of all, Pier is honest, and he knows what he is doing. You can trust him, which is so rare with anyone these days. I just wish he could be cloned. . . .

Pier installed 2 bedroom ceiling fans, including dismantling and hauling away the previous fans. I initially sent an email via Angie's List and did not hear anything back. Since in a previous report it seemed like there was a miscommunication via email I went ahead and called the contact number and received a call back that same day. He was late for our appointment but he called prior to apologize and check to see if later in the afternoon still worked for me or if I preferred to rescheduled. (It was raining that day and I think he may have been stuck in traffic but I don't completely remember.) It was obvious that he was very busy as the later start and the job kept him at my place rather late, and he still needed to return to another job after mine. That being said, he in no way rushed my installations. He called me in several times to explain/check things with me and let me know what was going on which I really appreciated. This is the third handyman I've had out to the house over the years and I'll definitely be calling him again (although hopefully not soon).

We initially contacted Pier for an estimate on framing and installing two new windows. As we discussed the work we also mentioned that we were considering a bath remodel as well. Pier patiently worked through various possibilities and prices until we committed to both the window install and bath remodel. Two large unexpected issues surfaced during the project: 1. Extensive termite damage was found during the demolition of the exist bathroom interior. 2. The building inspector demanded an engineering study and drawing for the larger window because they deemed the wall where the window was to be installed, a sheer wall. In both of these cases, Pier was able to work though the issues and complete the project in a professional manner. Pier worked with us to acquire the floor, wall and trim tile we selected. He also worked with the supplier to have custom base tile manufactured. In additon, Pier and his helper were very careful to protect our newly painted walls and kept the place well policed at the end of each work day. The actual work with required inspections took three weeks. We could have probably gotten this work done for less, but overall the price was fair for the work done especially considering the unexpected issues that developed. Pier and his assistant are both hardworking and seem to be focused on meeting and exceeding the customer's expectations.
Description of Work: 1. Obtained permits. 2. Cut openings, framed, installed two windows and repaired stucco. 3. Removed existing bath tub, tile, flooring and vanity. 4. Repaired extensive termite damage in bath walls and framing. 5. Extended and reinforced the bathroom flooring. 6. Installed new tub. 7.Tiled tub and shower area in requested design. 8. Tiled the bathroom floor and installed custom made base tile. 9. Install new vanity and ceiling fan. 10. Removed two smaller bathroom windows. 11. Reinforced the wall where the larger window was installed to meet the required engineering standards. 12. Dry walled and finished as needed.
Everything went well; Pier is very knowledgeable about all aspects of building structure & construction. He takes a "bird's-eye" view of the whole situation and is very confident about what could be done to fix the problem and how to do it. He is a very personable guy and easy to talk to and answers all your questions & concerns. I didn't get any second opinions on my water problem, and it could be that I didn't need all of that done to fix the problem - i.e., may have been over-kill, per se, but I don't have any doubts that my problem is fixed. I think he is a bit pricey, but when he fixes a problem, he makes sure its fixed. When they're done for the day everything is cleaned up, and no junk or trash is left laying around. And Pier doesn't take any money from you until you're completely satisfied with the work that was done, which is a refreshing concept! Ha! His worker, Greg, is an excellent painter, and I highly recommend him for any painting needs. He is very detailed and conscientious. Overall an "A" rating for Pier, he's very good at what he does.
Description of Work: I had a problem during heavy rains with water saturating the ground beneath my den and coming in and flooding parts of the den and soaking the carpet. Pier and another worker, Greg, put up gutters on the side of my house, dug a trench along the part of the house affected, sealed the concrete, put in weeping tile and created a dry well (? i think that's right) to drain any excess water. They also hooked up a long plastic pipe to the gutter and ran it down the back of the yard and into the alley so the water wouldn't pool in the yard. I also had them prime and paint 8 interior windows; after having them restored, they were chipped, etc., after being restored.

Overall, the job was excellent. Piers and his team were prompt and efficient. For those of you reading this review, give Piers a call. You will be happy you did.
Description of Work: Piers did a great job at my house. We are working on both bathrooms. When Piers came to give an estimate, he suggested raising the ceiling in the shower as well as opening up the shower entrance - something we would have never thought about doing. Although this doesn't make the shower any bigger, it certainly looks bigger and definitely more modern. His crew also mudded, sanded, and painted both bathrooms. They were friendly, professional and hard working. I highly recommend Piers for any job and will definitely use him again. Great Job!

Pier is a great handyman (contractor) who takes great pride in his work. If it is not quality, he will not do it. His first concern was that the job met my satisfaction. If he was not going to get to the job at the agreed time, he always called to let me know. I think he is a little more expensive than most but the knowledge and quality of the work was well worth it. The next time I want something done right and with quality I will call Pier and no one else!
Description of Work: I had an old tile fiberboard ceiling in my bedroom that need replacing due to age and rain damage. We agreed to replace it with drywall and to paint it. Plastic was laid down to protect the carpet from the front door to the bedroom and some furniture in the living room was also covered. The old ceiling was taken away by contractor. Pier did a beautiful job! The job did take 2 days instead of the expected 1 day which was no problem for me. Upon seeing the beautiful freshly painted ceiling, I asked if he could also do the walls. Due to inclement weather he was able to start on it right away. There was a lot of cutting in to do in the room. The walls are a deep dark green and all the woodwork is white. Again the job was done just beautifully. It did take longer than expected by a day or so due to the damp weather and the paint taking extra time to dry. Oh yes, he also fixed the closure of the screen door that had broken away from the door jam.
