Pier did an excellent job. He helped us find the tile colors and patterns we wanted, as well as the sink, and also cleaned out and repaired the old plumbing connection. His price was fair, he showed up for every appointment on time, and is a personable, friendly person to deal with. I would recommend him without reservation.
Description of Work: Pier replaced our bathroom sink, which also required replacing a tile counter that the sink was part of. The job was a whole new tile countertop and sink.

I had my kitchen remolded in 2009 . I did not get a Permit as I trusted the contractor when he said "everything will be to code", not to worry. Big mistake. Always get permits. The plumbing was incorrect, but the really big mess was the electrical. Pier is tenacious. He needs to figure out why things are not working and he makes sure the end result is the result that satisfies his customer. I will definitely use him on any other projects I have.
Description of Work: Plumbing, electrical, fixed gutter, installed in wall air conditioner, installed attic fan.
Pier showed up when he said he would, called when he said he would, and did everything he said he would do. Very professional and extremely pleasant to work with. He even coordinated with our deck sealing contractor with whom we had been struggliing to get the warranty work done. Thanks to Pier, we got the entire project done quickly, including the deck sealing by the other company. We had been fighting them for over a year, before Pier stepped it and got it done. We can't say enough good things about Pier and his work. We just completed a full kitchen and downstairs remodel with many contractors, and as good as some of them were, Pier stands out as excellent. The experience and the quality of work is totally worth the price.
Description of Work: Pier vented our range hood to the outside. Opened the wall, drilled holes in our brand new cabinetry. Had to order special ducting for the City Inspector. and then designed and built a very creative wooden 'apron' for the front of the new hood, so that it would be built into the cabrintry. Beautiful carpentry. He also removed an exterior door, excavated the termite damage, replaced the plywood flooring, threshold, and moved the entire door way up 2 inches to eliminate flooding. Replaced the door, threshold and molding. Looks better than new.

Pier was extremely courteous and explained all work before and after the work was done. He made recommendation and freely commented on things that needed to be done for future consideration. He was always right on task and made himself available for comments. It was a pleasure to work with him.
Description of Work: Found Pier Angeli through Angie’s list. Quick to return my call for the estimate - estimate completed on Thursday and work begun the following Monday. The work included installing outside stairs at two outside locations - Pier fashioned the stairs from scratch with no form to follow. repairs to two outside doors and one inside door (one door was replaced) - the doors were very professionally done - first rate carpentry - including hardware and paint. and rebuilt thresholds. Doors were hung square with a solid feel to them. Pier moved articles for a work area; and throughly cleaned up all work areas; including hauling away debris and door.

After two phone calls a couple of weeks apart and then an email, Pier responded to my request for an estimate to repair an overhang on my patio that had dry-rot. On the appointed day he called a couple of times to report he was running late. When he got to my house, he inspected the damage, gave a detailed description of the work that needed to be done and gave me a "worst-case scenario" price of $3000-$4000. I nearly fainted! When he asked me how much I thought it was going to be, I told him, "under $1000". He said the least it could possibly be was $2500. I told him I needed to think about it and get at least one more estimate. I called another Angie's List handyman - BJ Bejenaru at Homecrafts Master - who answered the phone immediately and said he would come by the next day. When BJ showed up on time, he inspected the damage, gave the exact same description of what needed to be done and quoted a price of $800. He's hired! Please see his review...

Response from P's Handyman Services Inc
Dear Member, Yes, it took a few communications to schedule a time to connect; however, this was not solely due to my schedule. Additionally, yes, I was running late; as a professional should, I contacted you immediately, and informed you of my delayed arrival time. As for the cost of the job, you gave me a ladder and at a quick glance, as you requested, I gave you a "ball park" estimate. A thorough inspection under the shingles was needed. Just a warning: if someone gives you an exact cost for an old roof repair, without opening up the roof and carefully examining the damage, then there will be issues between you and the contractor. As my customers know, once I present a formal, researched bid, I always hold true to my price and quality of work. I wish you the best of luck with your repairs. Pier (P's Handyman)

The day the work began they showed up on time and made every effort to reduce the mess. Instead of using machine sanding, all the serfaces were hand sanded. Pier was there each day. He didn't just show up to get the job going and then leave his assistant to do the work. At the end of each day Pier checked to see if we were satisfied with the work. Any areas of concern were addressed the first thing the next day. As Pier was installing the pulls, we came up 3 short (our fault) and Pier went ahead and pre-drilled the holes so I only have to install them when they arrive. Pier was very easy to work with and never seemed put out when we had a question or concern. His assistant Greg was very polite and worked very hard to get everything looking right. One day when they arrived late (they had called in advance to let us know) Pier apologized and volunteered to work later if needed. Pier gave us advise on what we could do to preserve the finish and he even refinished a little spot on our hardwood floor! We are very satisfied with the work they performed. The cabinets have a white washed finish and, because the cabinets didn't have pulls originally installed, they showed a lot of ware and tear from years of use and now they look brand new! We feel that we received real value for the price we paid. We would definitely use P's Handyman Service when we refinish our hardwood floors.
Description of Work: We needed to have our kitchen cabinets refinished and new cabinet pulls installed. The owner of P's Hardyman Service, Pier Angeli (562) 519-8472, handypa@yahoo.com, came out and give us a estimate. During the estimate he gave us a detailed inspection of what needed to be done and approximately how long it would take to complete the job.

Pier returned my initial call promptly and came the next day to give me an estimate. He measured the gate area and told me the ground needed to be leveled to open the gate fully, and showed me that some repair was necessary to hang it properly. He recommended a low-care vinyl gate. He also gave me an estimate for digging out the badly cracked stucco around my bathroom windows and replacing it. Pier called me a few days later to tell me the gate was scheduled to arrive on Monday and that he would call again to schedule the work. He called Tuesday and made an appointment to do the work Thursday. I am a teacher and was unable to be home. Pier told me they did not need to get into the house, so I left the matching paint near the window to be fixed. When I arrived home at 4:00, the two workers were just finishing up. The gate is beautiful and opens easily - it is very high quality and really compliments my house trim. After painting, it is impossible to tell that the stucco around the windows was repaired. It blends beautifully. The workers were extremely pleasant and cleaned up everything. I have several other projects that I plan to do in my house in the next few years - a new driveway gate and refacing of kitchen cabinets. I will definitely call Pier to do the jobs.
Description of Work: Pier ordered and installed a new vinyl gate at the side of my house and leveled the ground where a previous owner had poured excess cement so that the gate could fully open. He also replaced stucco around two bathroom windows.

The new tile and window are perfect. This is the second bathroom he remodeled for me and I will use him again in the future.
Overall, the job went really well and the result is wonderful. The interior painting work is beautiful, along with the new kitchen doors and drawers and the refinished front door. The biggest challenge was the interior painting prep time which was much more significant than expected. Although, the end result was well worth the frustration of living in chaos a few additional days. All in all, Pier's company did a superb job and kept the communication lines open throughout the process. I would definitely recommend P's Handyman Services if you're looking for first class results.
Description of Work: The work was a general fixup/repair throughout the interior and exterior of the house to prepare for sale. The gutters were powerwashed, one area repaired and additional spouts installed where needed. The paneling in an exterior room was removed and replaced. Exterior light and new GFI box installed. New sink and shower hardware installed in bathroom. Kitchen cabinet doors were replaced with soft close, hidden hinge doors. New drawer boxes and cutting board were installed. Entire interior was prepped and freshly painted. Removal of popcorn ceiling. Several ceilings and bathroom were plastered and smoothed out. Several layers of old paint and wallpaper were removed throughout the interior. Stucco was repaired at several points around the house. Front door sanded and restained. Other general repairs such as chaulking, etc.

Piers arrived as scheduled and gave me an estimate. He seemed confident he could repair the fence and gate. He also gave me an estimate on the electrical work. Although I felt the estimate was a bit high, I had a feeling it would be worth it and I was right. We scheduled the job and everything was completed to my satisfaction. I can hardly believe they were able to make the falling down fence and crooked gate look like new. The 3 men were very professional and cleaned up when they were finished. My neighbor had her work done on the same day and is also satisfied.
Description of Work: My wooden back fence and gate were in need of replacement or repair. I was unable to latch the gate and was using a brick to hold it shut. In addition, I had 4 small electrical problems (broken switch, broken outlet, and broken under cabinet light) inside the house. My neighbor also needed her gate rehung and a basketball hoop mounted on her garage.

We are very pleased and plan on having Pier return to remodel our guest bathroom.
Description of Work: Pier and his helper installed a hidden ladder leading up to our attic. The area is not the standard size attic opening and they did a great job making all the pieces fit together. They also installed new sliding closets doors and they look great. We found out that our room was not level so they had to make some adjustments that nobody will ever notice. We also had a wall covered with wood and stained that needed to be sanded and touched-up. Pier made a perfect match of the color (stain) and it looks wonderful. There were several small tasks on my "handyman to-do" list for Pier and he completed them all. We are very happy with the results.

The work was done flawlessly. On time, exactly to estimate and the area was left clean. Pier will be the person I turn to for any further home projects or repair.
Description of Work: A backdoor which had been worked on twice previously by a different handyman had become almost impossible to lock and unlock. The door never latched unless the deadbolt was engaged and it was at the point where that was becoming impossible. Pier looked at the door and explained exactly what the problem was. Something the previous person never even considered. He fixed the door so that it is so easy to open and close it's almost ridiculous that I spent four years struggling. I had also wanted to get a screen door for this entryway, but because of the way it is built and the fact that not much could be changed because of the historic designation of the home, I knew my options were limited. Pier worked with a manufacturer to get me the type of frameless screen door I wanted. The screen was measured and built to custom fit.
Pier came right away and provided an accurate bid. Then he returned with his assistant about a week later to begin work on the garage. They completed all of the work in a timely and professional manner. Pier is very friendly and professional and explains everything in great detail. If there were any adjustments or requests for changes or additional work, he responded quickly and was very accommodating. I was very happy with all of the work Pier and his employee did. Excellent craftsmanship and quality work. Good attention to detail. I was also able to use the 5% off coupon that came in the Angie's List mailer. He is not cheap, but that's fine with us because you get what you pay for. I'd say he prices his work very fairly for the high quality that is delivered. I was so happy with Pier that I recommended him to a good friend who had water damage from a poorly installed shower. She was also very happy with his work.
Description of Work: All new copper gutters custom made and installed on our detached three car garage. Old gutters removed. Repairs done to roof edges to correct existing damage and to prevent future water damage. New stucco and paint were applied to parts of the garage and house. New door casings/frames were custom built on the two garage entries. New doors were hung and painted. New thresholds were constructed and painted underneath the two new doors. Two new outdoor lanterns were installed. Custom wood trim/moulding was installed under the copper gutters. Also as a side project, a new ceiling fan was wired and installed in our guest room.
We would hire Pier (P's Handyman Service) again. It's great to find there are people out there that want to do a great job. He's not the cheapest but he's worth every penny. He did a great job replacing an old kitchen door and replacing an old window with a great looking smaller, more modern looking window. The wood work is fantastic. The room looks like a whole new room. The workmanship is beautiful! If you care about your home, he's the person to call. Thanks Pier! We will definately be calling you again!L & S Moore
Description of Work: A beautiful window and door were installed. Pier removed an old side door and replaced it with a beautiful window. He did a great job! The workmanship is incredible! He also replaced an old kitchen door and made it look great! In addition he did some stucco work for us. He did a great Job!
The project went very smoothly from bid to competion of project. After initiially meeting with Pier I got a bid within a few days via e-mail. After a few discussions (for example re what wood to use) we settled on a price. It took about a week and a half to get the doors and drawer fronts make. Pier is very good about keeping in touch all along the way and showing up when he says is going to. The installation part of the project took a little longer than I had expected (just over a week after the doors had been made) but it was worth it, they were just trying to get everything as perfect as possible.
Description of Work: I wanted to have my kitchen cabinets refinished, including making new doors and drawers. I also needed new drawers for the built in cabinets in my bathroom. This was esp. a challenge in the kitchen because I wanted everything to match an old, turn-of-the-century quarter-sawn oak china cabinet also in the kitchen. They did a great job matching the door design as well as staining and finishing the wood. This included putting quarter-sawn oak veneer on the facing of the cabinets to make everything look consistent. In addition they made solid quarter-sawn oak panels for the sides of the old china cabinet since it was originally designed to be fitted in between two walls. The results were beautiful, totally custom and so not cheap, but well worth the cost in my opinion.
My kitchen drawers were falling apart. When you opened them they would scrap on the sides and the sawdust would fall onto the shelves underneath. The bottoms were also falling off. Pier was wonderful and his work is stellar. He built brand new beautiful kitchen drawers for my kitchen. They are bigger than the original drawers and open and close so easily. They are the nicest part of my kitchen now (next to my new oven).I also had Pier install a new double oven in our kitchen to replace the one we had (which I am pretty sure was original). Of course nothing is easy in my house and when the original oven was put in they built the cabinets over it. So when Pier went to pull out the old oven it wouldn't come out because it was blocked with pieces of wood. He ended up chiseling out the wood and then had to cut the cabinet to fit the new oven (which was bigger). He took the time to put up plastic all around the oven before cutting so that the dust would be contained. The new oven looks beautiful and you can not even tell that he had to cut the cabinets to get it in. I can't say enough about Pier and his employee, Greg. They were friendly and professional and there work is beautiful. We are already starting to line up more jobs for him to come out and do.
Description of Work: Built 10 new drawer boxes with maple plywood sealed on both sides, Installed ball bearing slides and original drawer fronts. Installed new electric double oven.

My overall experience was very good! I will definitely call him again. He is very personalble and gets right to the issue! He was very clear and walked me through everything that he was doing.
Description of Work: I purchased a refrigerator and had always wanted an ice maker! He had to remove the drywall to get to the old water line and after fixing some very old plumbing issues that had been hidden for years, he was able to install my ice maker. Since he was the only handyman, out of seven calls that I had made that had bothered to call me and come out to the house, I added on some additional household repairs! (Fixed a door jam, installed an new outside fauces, replaced my kitchen cabinet and installed a shelf, etc.)
All work was completed in one day. Had a slight problem with the new flexline connection from the shut off valve to the bottom of toilet. To no fault of his, the fittings were different with the newly bought flexline from old flexline. As a result we had some leaking. Pier returned as soon as we notified him of the problem and fixed the line. He is a true professional and he values you being 100% satisfied or he's not satisfied. He takes whatever time is needed to get the job done right.
Description of Work: Replaced shut-off valves in kitchen, master bath and our daughter's bathroom. Cleared out plugged bath tub drain and replaced drain cover in guest bath. Also in guest bath replaced shower valve and trim plate along with new handle. Replaced main shut-off valve along with new piping to house that connects from the main waterline from the street.

Description of Work: Scrape and sand exterior wood on front arch window; add new wood on top of old wood on exterior only; prime and paint; caulk as needed.
I have a water heater that at the slightest rain or wind, it would go out. Pier replaced the water heater. I could leave it at that and give him high marks but it wouldn't tell the whole story. My water heater sits outside in the corner of a block wall on a cement slab, inside a metal shed. Pier had to dismantle the shed, to be used later.. To his and my surprise the water heater was buried up to the its lip in concrete. He had to bust up the concrete to get the heater out, which left a very large hole. He had to also replace all the old flex and pipes. He shut the water off and began removing the flex but the main water valve was so old that he had to call the city out to shut it off. Once the water was off he began disassembling the heater. He also recommended that since the water was off, i should probably put in a new main valve. As many of you know nothing is ever that simple. He ended sawing off a couple of connectors as they just wouldn't turn. He installed the heater on a 2 or 3 foot stand, fabricated a new shed using the old shed and some new pieces of sheet metal. He filled in the hole in the concrete. He hooked up all new flex and pipes, strapped the heater in 2 or 3 places. He did a great job and it looks great. He also worked on my front door. He replaced the threshold and door jam, He re-anchored the door by replacing the 1 1/2 screws with 4 inch screws. The door has never shut easier. Bottom Line: Pier is a professional craftsman. He has a great personality which is backed up by his immense knowledge of 'stuff''. I have found the only contractor that i will ever use. You will not be sorry.
Description of Work: Replaced water heater Replaced front door threshold. Squared up and re-anchored my front door.
After finalizing materials, hardware and design, Pier scheduled the construction of the doors, on site, for a Monday and Tuesday (my off days). I was leery that he could build, hang, stain and seal 2 custom doors in 2 days. Boy, was I wrong. With his helper Greg, Pier built 2 beautiful redwood doors, that we were able to match the stain to coincide with the exterior of the house. His attention to detail, and professional approach to the project was commendable. Not to mention his affordable pricing! I am looking forward to working with Pier on future projects (we are already talking about a couple of them, and would recommend his services to anyone.
Description of Work: Had two gates going to the backyard from the front and side of the house (corner lot). I wanted to replace them with actual doors, that would look more attractive and match the spanish style of the house, as well as locking capability. I met with Pier and he gave me some great recommendations, which included building custom doors, which he would design.

I would recommend Pier for his quality, dependability and versatility...he isn't the cheapest out there, but worth every dollar he charges! You get what you pay for...
Description of Work: Pier and his associate did a great job for us. We had numerous small jobs that added up to a full day's work for two men. I really appreciated Pier's professionalism, follow up, quality of work...and most of all, he arrived exactly at the time we had arranged! (a rarity among tradesmen) I was especially impressed with the versatility shown by Pier and his staff. I had them "tweak" all of my interior doors, since they have never hung right since my move in. Pier did a fantastic job of getting the right...and quickly. In addition to the doors, I had bathroom plumbing and tile work done...very clean. I also had a number a small items that Pier did equally well...he is willing to do the small tasks as well as the more major repairs.
The problem started when we (my partner and I) pulled up our old vinyl tile floor in order to install new vinyl tiles. Once we removed the old, we realized there was water underneath the old tiles. As we pulled up more vinyl we realized the water had damaged the flooring underneath the toilet, and that we would need a new floor. This was beyond our capabilities. I emailed Pier on Wednesday evening and told him of our problem. Pier (found him on Angie's List) called on Thursday morning regarding my bathroom floor. I told him how we now had a bathroom floor which was unsafe (moldy), and we had two kids, so we needed the job done as soon as possible. He checked out a few things and called us with an appointment on Saturday. He gave me an over the phone estimate of $500 based on what I knew the problem consisted of. His worker Greg (I believe) arrived at 9:30am and started working on removing the old vinyl flooring (about 3 layers). About an hour later Pier came and assessed the situation, he let us know the work we had to have done based on what he actually saw. It turned out it was a bit more extensive than he anticipated. We didn't know we would need a new spout, new wall behind the toilet. He then estimated it would cost a few hundred more based on the work that had to be done (he was being very fair about it). They worked until 4:30PM, and finished the job. They did a great job with everything. The floor board was sturdy, the wall behind the toilet looked 100% better than before, and he even fixed the shower spout which stopped the leaking that we had. He was very prompt in responding to my phone call. He told us each new thing that he believed we needed to do, and explained why we needed to do it. He was more concerned about doing a professional job rather than just getting it over with. Very detailed and particular which I believe is a great trait for someone working for you, no shortcuts, or mediocrity. Pier was very helpful, ethical, and very easy to communicate with. He was more than willing to answer any questions we had regarding the job. At the end of the job when we were discussing the bill, he was more than fair, and really seemed to want to do good by us. I will definitely call Pier back for any job I have in the future.
Description of Work: Bathroom work: Removed toilet to redo wood flooring, removed all vinyl and particle board. Supplied and installed 1/2 inch plywood to floor. Removed damaged plaster from wall behind toilet, installed new drywall and mud. Install vinyl tiles under toilet. Caulked and sealed around toilet. Removed spout from bath tub, installed new provided spout. Removed rusted out shower stem, installed provided shower spout.
