I called P's Handyman on a Wednesday and spoke to Pier; he was very responsive and two days later on Friday morning he came over to provide an estimate. I had a back door with a wooden sill that had some pretty bad dry rot which was pulling away from the house and an old threshold that was not installed properly years ago. Pier assessed the situation and made some great suggestions to fix the issues and make overall improvements. When I called Pier to schedule the work he was able to fit me in on a Saturday so I didn't have to take a day off work to be there.Pier showed up on-time, prepared with all the materials. I liked not having to go out and find the right stuff myself, which I've had to do with other handymen. Pier?s work was excellent! He replaced the threshold and sill, and also re-hung the door so that it closes properly now (without having to slam it). Pier removed old weather-stripping and installed new weather-stripping that actually sealed the door. The door works like a dream now and is weather tight. Pier has an attention to detail, and really knows his craft. I will defiantly use P?s Handyman again.
Description of Work: Fixed all the problems with my exterior back door. Removed old door sill and threshold. Installed new adjustable threshold with rain protector on bottom of door. Replaced damaged wood at bottom of door jamb. Removed old brass weather-stripping and replaced with new weather-stripping. Adjusted door and replaced hinges.

he never returned my phone call and i live in seal beach. if he doesn't take jobs here, then where? this a very small town, and you would think a handyman would like to keep busy locally. apparently professionalism is not one of his qualities. in small town like seal, a contractors reputation is everything and word travels. too bad, i have a lot of properties and could use a good handyman.

I am going to respond to this person who lives by me. First Mr. [removed member name]called two days ago I have been working until 730 pm most nights so I have not had a chance to respond that I am sorry for but to write a responds that says I am not professional is very wrong to say about someone you don't know. Second his message says if you are interested please call back.I know that most people call a few handymen to see who can call back.So Mr. [removed member name] if this makes you this mad I am glad I am not working with you thanks Pier

Pier always does extremely well done work, knows more about everything construction than one person should know. Prices are on the high side, but worth every cent! When Pier finishes a project you will know it's done right the first time and won't have to worry about it again. He explains everything he will do or has done with knowledge and pride. I would hire Pier again
Description of Work: Hang 4 exterior doors, repair ex- large front room window and some termite repair.
Great job. Always on time, always returns calls promptly. But most importantly, does amazing work. Very detailed and very talented. Thanks Pier!

handyman service, closet systems

It took all day, but Pier rebuilt a closet system from scratch with new hanger poles and structural bracing for a master bedroom closet system, I plan on using Pier for many new projects.
Description of Work: Pier rebuilt a closet system in the master bedroom.
Pier and his team arrived timely, and worked meticulously from start to finish (two weeks). Never did we feel misplaced throughout the project, and when the job was finished, we saw no trace of sloppiness. Our house was clean with beautiful new cabinetry, including a new custom wine rack within our kitchen. Pier and his team will be the only ?handymen? to cross our threshold. In fact, we are in the process of having Pier put together an estimate for new countertops, sinks, and backsplashes. Again, no one else will we hire and invite into our home for remodeling purposes. This is our first time using Angies List, and I have not figured out how to upload our before and After photos. Nevertheless, I will say that if you want satisfaction for your money, call Pier for your needs. Ne is no Ducktape, screwdriver and hammer "handyman" that figures things out as they unfold. This man has a lifetime of experience, and will not disappoint. He puts his name to his work, professionalism that's not often found these days.
Description of Work: The cabinetry throughout our home was in dire need of attention due to sun, water, and steam damage. The project included striping the cabinets in our kitchen, two bathrooms, and one vanity along with 32 drawers and cupboard doors. He then refinished and installed new hardware, hinges, and tracks (never again will we hear a drawer or cabinet door close. Additionally, Pier designed and installed a new custom wine rack for us.
I called Pier when the water damage people wanted to rip out the cabinet and said they couldn't save it. He and his associate Greg came over that day and got the cabinet out, no problem. After the drywall repair (I had to use the insurance company's people), Pier and his crew came back and put the bathroom back together exactly the way it had been. Pier is a perfectionist. This is the third time Pier has done work for us (he has also built a custom in wall TV cabinet, and side tables) and he is coming out next week to quote another job.
Description of Work: Two years ago, Pier renovated our small bathroom. He took out a door, put in a window, installed a new toilet and new pedestal sink and built a beautiful custom cabinet. He also installed crown and floor molding. He finished the stucco on the outside where the door had been. You would never know that there had been a door there. Unfortunately, last month we had a water supply line burst and the bathroom had a lot of water damage.

He has a phone number and when I called he told me he doesn't do any business or estimates over the phone. He told me to email him, but that wasn't convenient for me. He sounded really abrupt. He said it was easier for him to keep track of what's going on with email versus phone calls. He wasn't very accommodating to me, the customer.

The in home consultation went fairly well but it went sour afterwards. After receiving the bid there were items on the list we didnt need done. I didn't bother to reply to the bid since we opt-ed to install new windows first since the window installers would have had to stand in the tub. (Didn't seem smart to install a new tub, then have window installers standing in the tub to install a window, thus damaging the new tub.) So we waited and replied a few months later and asked for the scope of work to be reduced and rebid. Received a response stating the provider prefers to do the entire project themselves, would not break down the bid, and was not interested in our project. I understand its the providers decision to accept a job or not, however I also feel its worth advising others looking for a provider in a similar situation as us to prevent them from wasting their time. If you are looking for a provider to do everything (more like a contractor than a handyman) then P might be a good option for you. If you are like us and would like to do the painting yourself or handle other minor little things, then don't waste your time.
Description of Work: Provided bid for master bathroom remodel. Labor only with a slab (we no longer needed); all materials provided by us.

the original bid for the bathroom was done in February I received an email just the other day out of the blue saying Hi I am sorry it has been a while since we talked we had our windows installed. That was fine the window should go in first.I bid the bathroom 6 months ago. She said in her email she already removed part of the tub and purchased the slab for her top. She wanted another bid with a break done to see if she could do more of the her self. It has been my experience that when a project is broken down like that it leads to problems. I would have told her I was not interested in the job on the phone before we met.She correct when she said I wanted to do the complete job. All my reviews are based on me doing the work that is no secret. So my question is I did the bid 6 months she finally responds saying she was doing some of the work her self and I said I do not work like that. I get a review with a C grade for being honest I feel the person was a little upset because I responded in way I did.I am running my company the way I think it should run thanks Pier
Pier does really good work. He was there when he said he would be and the work was done well. It was an easy experience and he did a very good job. He is not the cheapest out there but his work is of good quality so that makes it worth it. I would use him again.
Description of Work: Fixed a roof leak and check vents for leaking, re-installed dishwasher properly, re-installed a false front in kitchen.
Our master bedroom closet had bi-fold doors that we have wanted to replace with sliding mirror doors. We called Pier because of his rating on Angie?s List. Pier came out to give us a quote and suggested that we not only increase the width but also increase the height of the opening so that we can access the top inside area more easily. He ordered the frame-less mirrored sliding closet doors, which were very good quality, and once they arrived, he and his assistant, Greg, came out and began the work. They put up plastic around the area to reduce the amount of dust, as they had to cut the walls to increase the opening. After the area was cut out, Pier finished all the sides very nicely. He installed the doors and they fit perfectly. As the plaster that was used to finish the openings in the wall was taking a while to dry, Pier and Greg came back the next day to finish sanding the walls and paint. Pier and Greg cleaned up everything and hauled away all the debris that was cut from the wall. Everything came out beautifully and it makes our bedroom look larger. We have now decided to have Pier do the same thing to our guest bedroom. This bedroom has ?his? and ?hers? closets. He is going to cut out the wall between the two closets, increase the height, and install sliding mirrored closet doors to make one large closet. I expect that the work will be done to perfection like our master bedroom.
Description of Work: Increased the opening to our master bedroom closet, installed quality frame-less mirrored sliding closet doors, finished sides, and painted walls around closet opening.

It went very well. We have used Pier for other improvements on this property and have not been disappointed yet. We did have some issues with the new gate but Pier took care of it, no problem.
Description of Work: Pier removed a half wall between the kitchen and dining room replacing it with a snack bar with additional cupboards below, removed all the old ceramic tile and replaced it with a beautiful Quartz countertop, separated electrical circuits for microwave and computer, replaced the patio fence with a new gate and keyed lock, repaired termite damage to door frames and painted the security door.
Pierre created a new custom mater walk in closet. We recently moved into a new house. The master bedroom had an unfinished space that was being used for a TV and a closet with sliding glass door. We tore out the old water heater and installed a tank-less water heater. Pierre took the unfinished space, existing closet, and old water heater closet with exterior door, and turned it into a very nice custom walk in closet for the master bedroom. He tore out the existing closet and the master bedroom actually gained some usable space. Pierre performed a number of activities including framing, drywall, mudding, matching existing wood flooring, repaired wood flooring in other areas, installed door, trim, light, wall texture, paint, custom shelves, and rods. The project turned out very well. Pierre does very high quality work at a fair price. He has a keen attention to detail. He also works very fast and is punctual and reliable. He will get your project done right, on time, and on budget. He has my strongest recommendation.
Description of Work: Master bedroom and custom closet.
When I moved into a new townhome in February, I realized that the laundry closet was too small for my washer and dryer. When I discovered the difficulty finding smaller appliances, I decided to enlarge the laundry closet itself. I had an estimate from another contractor which was comparable to P's Handyman's, but went with Pier based upon favorable reviews on Angie's List. The job involved extending the closet outward, installing new doors, redirecting some plumbing pipes, painting the doors, and installing the washer and dryer. The work took a bit longer than expected due to some unanticipated plumbing work which also increased the total cost. However, I am totally satisfied with the completed project and very pleased with Pier's work. I am now using Pier for another project in my home and will gladly use him again.
Description of Work: Enlarged laundry closet.

Work is good; a little more conversation than I like.
Description of Work: Painted; changed bathroom light fixtures; installed built in bench; Mounted 2 televisions.
Work was completed with a quality beyond my expectation. I was especially pleased with the stucco work that repaired numerous holes, cracks and poorly finished prior repairs that were an eyesore. Once the stucco is painted you wouldn't be able to tell it had been repaired. Work was fast and efficient. They showed up on time and cleaned up after completing the work.
Description of Work: Miscellaneous repairs including replacing facia boards due to termite damage, rebuilding bifold closet doors to fit after wood floor installation, and stucco repair on exterior walls.
Everything went fine, as per usual with Pier who I have hired before. He is the ideal person do this kind of work, woodwork in old houses since he is a perfectionist and makes an incredible effort to have everything work out just right.
Description of Work: Pier repaired the lower sections of 2 sash windows, one that had termite damage, the other that had dry rot. He also replaced glass (that was broken) in one of the windows. He also installed 2 interior doors, one of which had to fit into a door frame that was very crooked given how much my old house (built in 1919) had shifted over the the years. His staffer (Gregory, I think) installed eyehooks in a cement wall next to my driveway so that I could attach my bouganvillia to them.

He is outstanding, he does what he says, he built it in two days, didn't lack any materials, it’s full and functioning, it landed in my house perfectly. He just did a wonderful job, I mean, his ability to create something, visualize it and then go do it. It was excellent. He is an all-time craftsman and he has great imagination and he knows what he is doing.

Pier was very professional, and communicated very clearly what the job entailed. Him and his partner worked continuously and quickly, and had the whole project done in 6 hours. Pier is an experienced and very knowledgeable veteran, and I will call him for any project I need help with around the house, big or small.
Description of Work: Installed a new read door that was a smaller custom size prior to a standard size.
The project took 2 full days to complete. Pier was always here on time and responded to calls and emails promptly. I gave them an A rating on everything except for price, which I gave a B. Thats only because I didn't price with anyone else. The work he did was great and would definitely use them again for any projects I have in the future. He even fixed some small things like the door handle on my french door as part of the cost. Everything looks great and works properly.
Description of Work: Installed a new water heater they provided. New gutters in back of house. Installed weather-stripping around 3 sides of the french doors including an adjustable threshold at bottom. Installed weather stripping around 3 sides of my bedroom door leading to the garage including an adjustable threshold at the bottom. Stained threshold to match hardwood floors and touched up white paint on ledge leading into bedroom. Installed outdoor light and rerouted wiring to have wall switch inside house. Installed vent for bathroom fan.

We are very happy with the results.
Description of Work: Remodeled a bathroom. Removed old fixtures, converted the tub to a full walk in shower, new countertops, electric, plumbing, paint etc.
Excellent. I can't say if his price was competitive as i didn't get bids, but was certainly fair for the amount of work and the quality. I knew from the other reviews that Pier was busy and that I could not expect next day service, but he worked with me to do the work taking into consideration my personal availability. It turned out that the installation required replacement shingles which further turned out that the shingles were no longer manufactured. Pier helped find a replacement source that matched closely, noted a missing shingle which he replaced, and spent a lot of time not originally estimated due to a number of issues that arose during the installation process. He consulted with me on a regular basis over problems that arose, kept me informed of the progress and explained technical issues as they were addressed. I will be calling for a formal estimate on a bathroom remodel in a few weeks, but he took time to talk to me about the work, made suggestions I had not considered, and gave me a ballpark figure so that I have an idea as to what i will be getting into when it's time to actually get a firm bid and do the work.

The job went very well. Piers explained everything to me before he did it so I would understand what he was doing and why. He showed me what previous workers had done wrong and why their worked caused the damage to the wood on the washroom and how the gate had been built incorrectly. He had to take shingles off the washroom roof that had been installed incorrectly and fix some of the wood damage underneath before he could install the new rain gutter. He also added flashing to the roof of the washroom and the roof over the porch to insure there would be no more water damage. He replaced the hinges and the latch on the gate and added wood to the frame to make it very secure. The gate looks so much better now and is sturdier than any gate I had there previously. The wood he put around the bottom of the house between the patio concrete and the house not only makes the house look better but will definitely protect the house walls from any moisture damage. Pier is not only very honest, knowledgeable, and professional, but he is also very informative. I learned a great deal watching them work and having him explain what he was doing and why he was doing it. If you want to hire someone that you can trust and who will do a really good job, then you should hire him to do your work for you. You will not be disappointed. He built a fence for me a few years ago and that fence is still as sturdy as the day he built it. I am planning on using him again to replace my kitchen windows.
Description of Work: Piers and Greg replaced the plastic sheeting I had on the roof over my back porch and the side of the house with plywood and put shingles on top of the plywood, rebuilt my back gate, and put a new rain gutter along the entire wall of my washroom as well as repair damage to my washroom which was a result of improper placement of the old rain gutter by another person I hired to do the job. They also replace the wood along the bottom of my house in the backyard the goes between the concrete of my patio and the house. They painted the underneath of the plywood as well as the other wood they installed. They made repairs to my washroom wall and parts of the roof caused by a prior worked who installed the drain.
