Torin was extremely courteous, professional and easy to work with. He responded to our requests in a timely fashion. Ultimately, he came in under budget so he charged us less than the original estimate which was extremely competitive to start with. At the end of the job, he provided us with receipts of all the materials he purchased. The work that was performed was top-notch throughout. Torin has a carpenter's eye which was evident from the care he took when building the planter bed and the garden structure. He put all screws and brackets on the inside so as not to be visible when looking out at either structure. The vegetable garden presented many challenges since it was an odd shape with a couple of bends and slight decline from one end to the other. Torin took great care to make sure the structure was vertically straight and level across which meant most of the supports had to be individually measured and cut-to-fit. The gussets for the garden structure were cut to have a finished look and complement the pergola that is nearby. Torin did an excellent job on the pool deck repair as well. He blended the concrete patch into the existing concrete and was able to match the 10 year old blue color from the original deck. Torin is now our go-to guy for all handyman repairs!
Description of Work: Torin and his helper, Justin, removed old, rotted railroad ties that formed the border of a 5x16 ft planter bed of established shrubs. They then set a 2" gravel base around the bed for proper drainage and installed rows of landscape timbers to form the new border. The first row was installed 3'' below grade. Subsequent rows were installed until the height was at least 1" above the planter soil level. The timbers were secured with rebar stakes which were placed in holes drilled inside the timbers so as not to be visible. They also designed and built a walk-in screened garden enclosure for our 14x16 ft, triangular-shaped vegetable garden which included a hinged, latching door and ½" pest blocker screen. The base of the structure consisted of ACQ pressure treated lumber. Pine 2x3's were used for the vertical supports and pine 2x2's were used for the top and cross supports. Torin also regrouted a portion of our master shower, patched a concrete area on our finished pool deck, and installed a door latch on the door going into the garage from the house.
