Randy and Peter were creative in their design, arrived early each day, their work was excellent and they both have great attitudes and personalities. We highly recommend them and we are enjoying our greenhouse and the patio cover they installed. Ken & Marlys

We interviewed a bunch of patio cover contractors, one for vinyl and about 5 for aluminum. We definitely did not want wood, as our old wood patio cover was high maintenance and had termites! We found out that you have to be very careful with contractors who advertise Alumawood as if it is a generic and not a brand name. (This is just a heads-up to people who are talking to other contractors. When in doubt, call Amerimax, the maker of Alumawood.) Anyway, Randy of Made in the Shade impressed us because he has a laid back personality and did not try to upsell us with things we didn't need. He suggested using 3 inch slats for our lattice rather than 2 inch in order to get better shade coverage, but did not charge extra for that. Randy was willing to attach the two end posts to our existing concrete where the old patio cover had been attached. Other contractors had insisted on digging up the remains of the old brackets and pouring new concrete footings, which would have increased our cost. The day of the installation, Randy and his crew got the patio cover built in about 5 hours, including clean-up.
Description of Work: We had a 24' x 13' Alumawood patio cover built.

All I have is praise for the job that Peter and Randy did for us. They own the company and do all the work themselves. It came out perfect ! We wanted a gabled cover and they had to attach to fascia on one side and wrap around the chimney and attach to stucco on the other side. (Another company said it was not able to do that !) The work was done when promised, their price was great, and they cleaned up every day before leaving. They really paid attention to detail. I would recommend them highly and would certainly use them again !
Description of Work: Installed a custom insulated gabled patio cover , with ceiling fan.

Randy and Peter showed up on time. They kept in close contact with us throughout the project. The entire project took about 4 days. There were a couple of days of rain that delayed the project, but the Randy was quick to call to let us know they would not be there so we were not left wondering. The guys were very clean - they cleaned up each day as they went along. We didn't have to lift a finger! They even hauled away some of the old wood patio we hadn't completely torn out. They were both very professional and very personable. I was comfortable having them work at my home. Randy and Peter take pride in their work and in their business. They work on one project at a time so their attention is focused on your project alone. I can't think of a thing that I could possibly complain about. The end product is beautiful. We've had rave reviews from family and neighbors.
Description of Work: We went to the San Diego Home and Garden show to look for a company to put up an aluminum patio cover for us. We set up appointments for several companies to give us estimates. The estimates from two companies were very competitive. We chose Made in the Shade based on price as well as the rapport we had with Randy and Peter. Randy Greenlee and Peter Pinka are the owners and builders for the business. The patio cover they installed was approximately 47' x 9'. They also ran electrical through the beams and installed a switch for our fountain, an electrical outlet, and installed an outdoor lighted fan. The material is Alumawood. It is made out of aluminum and has a wood grain look. It comes in a number of colors to choose from and best of all - almost no maintenance. Over time, I expect it will need to have dust build up wiped down, but nothing more than that!
