Buyer beware - the sales people are great but the installers will make you wish you went elsewhere. I love the windows but this company has been a nightmare to get my problems resolved, it’s been over a month since my windows were installed and their corporate offices are still giving me the run around. The day before my window install was scheduled, they tried to call me to cancel it. I explained I own a small business that requires me to be there M-F and I had to have people on my team work extra so I could step away on a weekday, and if they wanted to reschedule that was fine but I couldn’t reschedule for another month or so due to staffing at my business. They decided to send a different crew out instead of delaying the job on their own volition. The people who did the install work were incredibly unprofessional, disrespectful and messy. One of the employees was yelling and swearing at the other employee, in front of me, while my neighbor’s young children are outside playing. So embarrassing. They broke my solar pathway lights doing the install, damaged so many plants in my front and back yard some of which were not even near the windows, didn’t caulk the windows all the way, left my siding hanging off of the house (I nailed it back in myself) and got my deck covered in caulking. They failed to repair obvious dry rot under the windows that I went over with both the sales person and the person who came to double check the measurements, both of whom assured me that the work crew would be sure to address anything like that. To make it worse, they failed to put this note about the dry rot on my work order, which I could see in the corporate notes regarding my complaint when they sent someone back to look at the damage. If you have dry rot you want them to deal with, get it in writing on the work order so they don’t gaslight you about it when they fail to do their job. I’ve never witnessed such disrespect and behavior from a work crew before. The one employee who was particularly aggressive intimidated me, I didn’t want him to turn on me as a small young woman home alone so I just watched in complete shock. After this experience, I emailed the salesperson who was apologetic and had the person who did the measurement check return to my house to see the work that was done. He took photos of the damage, we discussed the dry rot failure, he addressed the caulking, repaired my siding, and cleaned my deck. He reassured me corporate would do the right thing and address my damaged garden and broken solar path lights within a month. No one ever did, so I followed up with the salesperson. The COO called me once, left a voicemail and I’ve tried calling him back over 5 times over the course of 2 weeks. He is conveniently never available to take my call. Overall this is a complete failure to make a situation right and do right by your customers. If a customer is dissatisfied and dealing with damage that is literally costing them money out of their pocket, you should do the right thing and reimburse for the damages. I gave them a chance to make it better but their true colors are shining through.

Over all my expierance was less than satisfactory. Most of it is due to poor communication and misunderstanding. The sales person had a difficult time understanding what I wanted and also had a terrible time communicating with me and the installation dept. The installers arrived without any plans and of course did an excellent job of installing the patio wrong. The inspector never came out to instpect the installation. I call the company and complained I was not happy with the job. The inspector came out 3 days later, agreed with me the installation was not done as agreed to. The company did redo the installation ASAP. I also ordered Elitewood window awnings and even gave the salesman pictures of what I wanted. He got back to me with estimates of window awnings made of canvas, which was not what I wanted. No one has come out to measure the window and I still do not have the window awnings. Needless to say, I will purchase the awnings from someone else. I am happy with the final product (patio cover only) even though I am not happy with thier sales staff. This is a company I will not do any return bussiness with nor will I recommended them to any of my friends. Elitewood patio covers and awnings can be purchased from other vendors.

Brad came out and did a thorough job of showing me the windows and talking about the process. He gave me an estimate on site for the Anlin DelMar window and the Monte Verde window, a lower-priced alternative. I also stopped by their showroom to see the products again, and was helped there by the receptionist. When I followed up with questions, Brad was very responsive. Their pricing was in the lower range of the bids I received. I received bids from two other installers, both for Simonton brand windows (one a big box installer, the other a local firm). I ultimately chose the Simonton brand based upon my research of windows. While Anlin looked like it would be good, my choice was to go with a larger window manufacturer than Anlin. As to the installer, I ultimately chose the local firm. I did speak with some friends who had used Northwest to replace all the windows in their house, and they were very happy with the service. So while I've indicated I wouldn't use Northwest in the future, if the option had been "Maybe," I would've picked that. My main reason for not using them is that, if I decide to have more windows done (I only had two large windows done), I would want to stick with the Simonton brand.
Description of Work: I received a bid for 2 XOX replacement windows from Northwest Exteriors. The bid above is for the Anlin brand windows. My reason for choosing "B" for quality is based on my assessment of the Anlin brand compared to the Simonton brand, pursuant to my research. It isn't an assessment of the quality of Northwest as an installer, as I didn't use them.

I had a very mixed experience. At first the sales representative came right over within one day of my call out and put a stat on the order. Unfortunately I had the next person that came over to assess the job do a very loose assessment which led to problems with accomplishing what the company had agreed to do. The upside is the job is done and I will probably pass the inspection tomorrow. The company does not keep track of their own schedules. I had one of the site managers call me and ask if the job was done. I was wondering why he didn't call the person in charge of the job.

All went fine. First a door to door sales person , and we made an appointment with an estimator. A few days later she called to confirm a couple hours before the app. She arrived on time and we came to an agreement on the job and price. Later someone showed up and measured all the windows and ordered the custom built windows. About 10 days later they called and made an app. for installation, the craftsmen arrived on time and did a wonderful job. Jack J Bradbury

Mr. Rick Pellhum, the General Manager, of "Northwest" Home Improvements, expertise, insight, and patient, courteous, professionalism and return inspection - with reviews and suggestions - were extensive and very helpful and useful in getting the non-tempered glass windows replaced and negotiating the same with the regrettable contractor we had used instead of Northwest.. Rick goes the extra mile in demonstrations of products and explanations of how things work and should be done. He takes his time and fully and objectively ticks all the boxes and covers all the bases. Once he has discussed a project proposal with you - you have been educated and really have a grasp of all the details. He fully engages you in sharing his knowledge and years of experience and the confidence that he has in his company's products, ethics, capabilities and workmanship. In hindsight now I can honestly say we should have gone with Northwest and I regret not having done so. Rick demonstrated the difference between the windows/product we ended up with, and the ones Northwest had proposed installing for us, by going out to his vehicle and bringing in an infrared lamp that when plugged in and held up to the window panes we have - versus the ones we could have had if we had contracted with Northwest Exteriors - clearly indicated an inferior product was installed by the party we went with. Rick was kind enough to outline remedial steps for me towards resolving the issues we were facing with the competitor we had gone with instead of Northwest. He gave me very sound advice. I highly recommend Rick and Northwest. In all of my dealings with him/them over the last year and to date they have always been responsible, punctual, professional, courteous and very thorough and reliable.
Description of Work: Rick Pellhum the General Manager of Northwest (the company/contractors we should have used) returned to give me another estimate for the potential replacement of a sliding glass door to our back patio. He had already come in person almost a year ago to give us an estimate for the replacement of 11 windows with energy efficient upgrade windows. He had given us an excellent bid and outstanding and very professional presentation. My son unfortunately, ended up going with another estimate/contractor who also supposedly did "dry rot wood trim repair and skylight replacements". However, it was a big mistake. Over the course of 3 months it has turned into a very long, tortured, painstaking process, with constant stalls and excuses, vague proposals & equipment e.t.a.s (estimated dates of arrival and thus availability of install materials), telephone tag games and missing follow-throughs and finally "the old bait and switch routine", and "NO SHOW" RETURNS to complete projects and address crucial missing components and come to a mutually satisfactory resolution. And last but not least a finally admitted post incompleted installation declaration that 2 windows (flanking a sliding glass door in our living room) should have been tempered glass windows but instead only regular glass windows - and not tempered glass pane windows, were installed.Which violates code and would not pass a building inspection! So now we are waiting for that other contractor - to order and then admit he has actually received, the tempered glass windows that he should have installed in the first place. So that we can proceed to getting those installed instead. Then we will have to endure 1. the wait, 2. further contact with and return by that contractor and 3. the rip out of 2 installed windows with 4 reinstall with tempered glass windows instead, which we should have gotten to begin with. ***Bottom Line is we should have gone with Northwest Exteriors and their Manager, Rick. We could have saved ourselves a lot of trouble and multiple delays with a job that should have been started and completed in a timely fashion and within less than a month's time instead of stretched out over 3 to 4 months time and with our having to constantly micro-manage someone who is not getting jobs right, causing us to lose sleep, wring hands, slap heads and get 2nd opinions from other contractors and the city of Santa Rosa and the California Contractors' State Licensing Board! etc., etc. Its been a Nightmare and the Nightmare is still yet to be brought to completion and satisfactory resolution..

A simple kitchen remodel quickly made me realize the need for new windows. I shopped several vendors but the day I met Phillip Pierce, I knew there was no point in shopping further. Phillip is a breath of fresh air. He spent hours with me explaining the process and showing me the product line. He was quick to provide me with customer references and even arranged a trip to the showroom in Rancho Cordova. Everyone that I came in contact with was professional and willing to provide anwers to my many questions. The installation process was flawless. The installers were pleasant, professional and possessed boundless energy. They installed each window with great pride. Phillip made a follow up call to ensure that I was pleased with the service. The Northwest Experience in a word...perfection.

Rick came over to give me an estimate of the cost for replacement windows. We priced the inexpensive windows versus the top of the line windows and found it to be a better deal to go with the Anlin windows. The paperwork was signed and in about 3 weeks I had all brand new windows. The crew that came to install the windows were very professional and efficiant. My appointment was at 9am and by 9:15am, there wasnt a window left in my house. They meticulously put each window in then placed the cover over the existing frame and then used white caulk to seal it all in. I had 10 windows replaced as well as a 8ft sliding door. The whole job took them about 4 hours to complete. We are very happy with the windows and their quality.

When we moved in to the house, Bob from Northwest Exteriors popped in while canvassing the neighborhood. He noticed we'd replaced one window upstairs and gave us an incredible price for replacing the rest. He worked real closely with a local program which finances work to improve the energy efficiency of your home. They came out and did 16 windows on the house and we had high-efficiency windows for around $5000. So when we wanted the front door and the storm door on the back door replaced we called Northwest Exteriors. He came out the next day, looked at it and said yeah ok. He showed us a book of options. This is the date of installation. The quoting was done in September, he showed us a bunch of options and helped us pick out a new front door and a new storm door for the back. We replaced the entryway door with a high-efficiency, high insulated, high sealed, energy-efficient door. With the windows and the door, I have a spot thermometer which detects where the heat is coming from and where the heat is going and I was measuring the windows, the walls, the doors... Before the door went in the temperature was 85 degrees. Now it is the same temperature as the walls. They were very responsive, came out the next day. They had to have the doors made so it took them almost a month before they did the installation. Their prices are a little high, but there's a warranty included in that. Which is really nice, if you have kids in the neighborhood being able to replace the window at no charge is REALLY nice.

Northwest Exteriors did a number of cold calls in our area. My husband and I met with their sales VP and decided to do a complete installation rather than a retrofit based upon our needs. Everything went smoothly with the exception of obtaining the permit in advance as the sales VP promised they would. (They did get the permit post-installation.) When we called on the day of installation--a Saturday--asking for the permit, the sales VP blew us off. However, the crew was outstanding--punctual, professional, polite. Work was completed in one day and the crew did all the clean up. I would recommend this company but be sure you get everything you require in writing.

I was losing a great deal of heat through the windows in the wintertime. The double paned windows were installed with the frame and also caulked after installation.
