North Bay Movers

This company should NOT be certified by Angi. After one email exchange, I was advised by owner David Noland to fill out their online form to get a bid for my household move out of state. Did so on a Sat, and never heard from them again, even though their website promises a bid "within a few hours." I sent 3 emails over the course of the next week to David asking if he was going to give me an estimate. Never heard a thing. Nine days after filling out their online form, I called their Santa Rosa number and asked if the man who answered was David Noland. He refused to provide his name, and when I asked a second time, he hung up on me. When I called right back, I got a recorded message by David (it was the same voice of the man who refused to ID himself) encouraging the use of their online form for a quick bid. Right! Been there, done that, have the tshirt - but still no estimate! Don't waste your time playing this guy's games. Terrible communicator, and not reliable. I would never trust my move with him or his company.

We literally could not be happier with the quality of care and service. From start to finish the process has been extremely efficient, and the folks at North Bay Movers are an absolute pleasure to work with. From the front office to the drivers (Thanks for everything Nate!) to the crew, everyone made the 800 mile move as painless as possible. One other note: Moving companies are often nothing more than virtual entities that hire crews as needed on the day of the move. You might think you're getting a bargain...until you get into a dispute over weights and final costs with a disreputable company that is essentially holding your furniture hostage. Do your homework and be sure you hire a reputable firm that is well-established in your area. YOU WILL NOT REGRET HIRING NORTH BAY MOVERS!

Every time we move we do it ourselves (twisting the arms of friends or family to help), have a grueling and miserable experience, and then swear we'll hire professional movers the next time, only to stubbornly try again each time to do it ourselves. This time we HAD to hire movers (we have twin newborns), but we were daunted by the idea of getting a potentially crappy team, or having to pay more than we felt we could afford. Thank you Angie's List, and major thank you to Dave at North Bay Movers for running an awesome moving company, having totally rad employees, and doing a great job for a price we felt was fair. Ramon and his associate were actually really fun to be around all day -- professional, friendly, upbeat, and really really good at what they do (I feel terrible I can't remember the second man's name because he was so nice... chalk it up to Mommy brain...). We will hire North Bay for our next move, no question, and will recommend them to anyone in the Bay Area looking for movers. Dave, please don't change--you're doing it all right! Thanks a million.

They were good. They did a good job. The man who came was polite and they treated our stuff well and they did a good job moving. They are careful, polite and friendly. It wasn't cheap but I'm sure it was competitive. They were on time.

Mr. Range was punctual, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. He explained the entire job, rationale for each process [scraping vs. sanding], when powerwashing was to be done and why. The job also was to include caulking and feather in paint lips! When I telephoned, the receptionist was knowledgable and very friendly...she remembered my name rather than job address. I did not use them for the exterior painting [house gets sided next month], but they WILL be used for the interior paint job.

The workers were fine on this move, careful, organized, and strong. They were polite and generally nice to work with. They did put a good sized ding in a wood floor when carrying a metal filing cabinet without removing the drawers. Granted the floor was a mess anyway, and I was about to refinish it, so not a big deal, but I felt they ought to have said something. Anyway, what I really didn't like about this company was the owners high powered sales tactics. I believe he made several statements to clench the deal, that were not necessarily correct. For example, when telling me about how his workers were well taken care of he said all his employees had been with him for 8 years or longer. When the movers arrived, one had only been there for 3 months. Not a big deal, but not quite correct... He also told me that all his competition had a 4 hour minimum, something I knew not to be true. And finally he wanted to charge a 13% fuel surcharge on the service saying all the competition did the same. I was surprised at this since none of the companies I'd spoken to had mentioned a "fuel surcharge" on a local move. Since the total round trip from his shop to my storage locker, home and back to his shop was less than 10 miles, I thought 13% a bit excessive. When I told him so, he did drop it to 5%. I did the rest of my move with another company, they didn't have any fuel charge for local moves. Perhaps "the competition" was a different pool of companies than I had been contacting. Still, I didn't appreciate the sales tactics and hope this will alert potential clients for what to expect. Oh yeah, keep in mind that the clock begins when they warm the truck up in their yard, not when they arrive at your door, and be prepared to sign 5 or 6 pages of disclaimers and contractual agreements before the moving begins.

The movers were very professional and easy to work with. They arrived right on time. They worked quickly but carefully, and did not waste any time, even though we were paying by the hour. Also the owner called us ahead of the actual move date to see if we had any questions and to explain how they calculated the charges. We were very pleased with the job and would use them again.

Were vert careful in the handling, they had to go down stairs from my house. Very all wrapped and padded.

They were very quick and got right back to me and it was even over the weekend.

Two guys and a truck. They were a few minutes early, got started right away, and had everything moved In about 4.5 hours. They were very careful with our items and took care to keep our house clean while going in and out. They took a little longer than I expected though and subsequently charged more than we anticipated.

They were fine. Two of them were very friendly, but the main guy in charge was a little grumpy. They seemed a little overworked. It sounded like they had worked seven days a week for a while. We asked the guy in charge to be careful with certain pieces of furniture, but he didn't respond that well.

They were wonderful. They were terrific; they were just great. Their bid was substantially lower than their competitors; at first I thought something was wrong so I double-checked. They knew exactly what I had and they stuck by everything that they said they would use. After I showed them everything that I had, they said it might take an hour longer than they first thought but they would definitely cap it off at a certain point. They came in right on budget. They were right on time and they were actually cheerful and easy to work with. The moving day just went great, which usually moving days don't go great. They moved my grand piano and I was nervous as a cat about that. It went great and there wasn't a scratch on it. I was very, very pleased with them and they were great. Their price was very, very reasonable. They were definitely responsive. I would absolutely use them again.
