After finding a problem, he presented me with options and pricing (replace the heat exchangers, replace the whole furnace at about twice the cost, and add an optional air scrubber because of having allergies, or leave the furnace turned off and use space heaters next winter). I was shocked at the prices, but they're in the ballpark. I am in the process of making a decision, as my budget is very limited, and it probably is not cost effective to repair an older piece of equipment that will probably need further repairs down the road. I also learned that the manufacturer's warrenty is worth about as much as the paper it was written on, as there are exceptions for just about everything on the furnace.
Description of Work: I I had my gas furnace inspected after many years of taking it for granted. The technician thorughly inspected it, cleaned the filters, and swept the surrounding area clean. He also gave me the bad news that heat converter was leaking condensate, and that there had been a recall by the manufacturer. (I checked it on the internet, and there were problems and recalls with it; I don't know why I had never been notified). He told me that it could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning if left uncorrected.

Technician was scheduled to do service check on air conditioner. During inspection of air conditioner, technician noticed something in the heating part of the unit that didn't look good to him. He took the time to also inspect the heating unit and has made a second appt. to do a complete inspection of the heater.

After checking out a few companies and different options we chose Moore HVAC and were very happy with the work. We were very impressed with the great service and professional approach from the initial meeting through the installation. Moore Heating & Air Conditioning explained different options thoroughly with no pressure. They are fairly priced, on time, friendly, explain things clearly and clean up every day before they leave. Moore has a great warranty that is spelled out clearly. Our new system works great and we highly recommend Moore HVAC. They are fantastic people to work with.

I wanted to know what a break down of the price would be and the company would not tell me the price of the heater. The guy who came out was really, really nice and very knowledgeable. We didn’t use the company because we aren’t ready to do any installations at this time.

My original appointment was cancelled on short notice [night before] due to short staffing problem. It was reset at my convenience so it was only a minor inconvenience. Owner seemed very eager to please.
Description of Work: Heating didn't work after cleaning due to wire not being attached properly. Owner returned first thing in the a.m. to fix.

It was ok. The unit hadn't been serviced or cleaned in a while. He cleaned it and what they did, they did right. However, when he left it developed a noise, a knock. We then had someone out from the same company, who came out to give us an estimate on something unrelated to what they originally had done. I mentioned to the gentleman that there was a noise. He said that since they removed the dirt, and cleaned it, it was probably unbalanced. He didn't say it was a safety issue but he told me that he would make sure that he would call back to schedule an appointment and he didn't, which was a disappointment. The price was very reasonable.
Description of Work: We had a tune up on our wall heater in the house.

It went fine. Everything was good except it was a little tricky; they took care of everything but I had originally put in the order that I wanted them to check the air conditioner. However, afterwards they said they couldn’t. They told me I had to wait for summer. I will have to pay them again to come out in the summer.

Performing a Tune-Up on an air conditioner and doing a complete and thorough job requires the following parameters: It must be at least 55 deg F outside and 70 deg F inside for the duration of the refrigerant test to ensure that your air conditioner is properly charged. This one test is at the heart of the Air Conditioner Tune-Up as a system with more or less than the optimum allowed amount of refrigerant will quickly lose efficiency. This test also helps determine if we need to look for refrigerant leaks or faulty valves. Refrigerant can also be a costly to add to your system as it is heavily controlled by the EPA. I want to make sure that you know how dedicated we are to our customers. If we were to come out and check your Air Conditioner without meeting the criteria, our results would not represent the actual results seen when you turn on your Air Conditioning during those hot summer days... Causing your system to work harder, longer, and less efficiently. When it is the springtime, we often try to combine a furnace and air conditioner Tune-Up. Sometimes mother nature has a different idea with the weather will hold for that day and we just have to do our best. We want to do the right thing for our customers and I hope that you can see that in our work. The overall experience was very good. When I called the gal was very helpful and gave me a time frame for the next day, which was fine. He was actaully able to come a little earlier which was great. He came in told me everything he was looking at. He showed me a switch that had been tripped, and how to reset it. We will need a new heater, which we do know as it is over 20 years old. We will very likely purchase it from this same company.
Description of Work: Our heater wasn't working. He inspected it and showed me a switch that needed to be reset. It's a very old heater and he said it will need to be replaced soon and told me how to go about getting a free estimate. But there was no hard sell at all. Just good information and good service.

The "Risk-Free " tune up was a complete and through inspection of our heater with explanation about everything . They state" your satisfaction is guaranteed" and they mean it. Couldn't have been happier with their service.

This was a general check up, not a repair. He was exactly on time, a big plus. Very efficient, clean (put on shoe covers), explained what he was going to check, and did his inspection. He cleaned out the heater and pointed out that it was in good condition. he checked out the thermostat and did a test run. I asked about the filters in the ceiling, he explained what I needed to know and made suggestions for the future. He was pleasant, a big plus.
Description of Work: He checked my heater, inside and out, the thermostat, ran a test, cleaned out the furnace (??), I wasn't paying total attention to every step, he did explain that in general, it was in good order.

Saw the maintainence deal on Angie's list so went for it. The technician arrived on time. Checked out the entire heating system, showed me things to look for in the future than may malfunction and that one part was beginning to show signs of wear and age. Gave an estimate of how much that part might be if it were to be replaced. Changed the filter and left. He was very pleasant
Description of Work: Technician did a service call and did annual maintainence check on my furnace. The filter was dirty and he had one available on his truck, so he replaced it. The deal was $19.00 for the maintainence check and the filter and installation was $20.00. Very pleasant and he explained things that I should look for in the future that may break down.

Two young guys showed up to do the work, were very polite and instructive and inspected both the downstairs and the upstairs furnaces. Upstairs was not operating at all. They ordered the part and the service manager came two days later to install it. However he saw a crack the younger guys missed. Determined that it was far too old to be repaired. Owner came a third visit the next day to lay out the replacement options. Very clear and straightforward. Seem trustworthy and instilled confidence.

I called Moore HVAC to evaluate a heating system that was very uneven -- super hot in some rooms and pretty cool in others. Since the system hadn't been serviced, I asked them to complete a service at this time, too. The service tech arrived and completed the service and noted that the uneven heating could be helped if the ductwork was replaced with newer ductwork, which allows for better damper control. He also noted that the old ducts had asbestos in them. At the same time the water heater was shutting off and I asked them to look at that, too. They checked the water heater but couldn't make it shut off as had been happening; however it stopped shutting off after they worked on it. We made the decision to replace the ducts. Moore HVAC subcontracted the removal of the asbestos ducts with a company that specializes in that. They removed the ducts in one day after sealing off the vents to the house and supplying heaters to provide heat through the night. The next day, Moore arrived to complete the install. They completed this in one day. When they got some dirt on the rugs in one bathroom, they took care of the damage. The heating is much more even and more comfortable. Everyone I dealt with was helpful and pleasant. We couldn't be more satisfied. We will definitely call Moore HVAC for further HVAC needs.

The overall experience was very good. Jon is a great salesman. Steve & Andrew installed the new furnace, all new air ducts and registers throughout the house. They were on time, courteous, and professional. Even though I selected the flexible air ducts I was not prepared for what it was going to look like when the job was completed. My reaction to the new system was not pleasant. They got Jon on the phone right away and he came over to resolve my issues. He was patient and polite. He was willing to work with me even though they gave me exactly what I asked to be installed. In the end I apologized for my behavior since it was my issue with the cosmetics of the installation, not the installation itself. The new furnace is much more quiet and efficient than the 60 year old unit we had replaced. The workmanship is excellent. Everyone I worked with was very professional and I would recommend Moore Heating to anyone needing a new furnace.
