(1) First door ordered in 2012 was a steel-clad double front door into an atrium area (one side fixed with bolts top and bottom that go into ground and framing so that fixed side can open; other side was "standard" entrance door. Within two years, the mechanism that secured the fixed side no longer worked (slipped and would not hold door in place). Bergy said this expensive door was off warranty and wanted to charge big bucks to fix it, which might include taking the door back to the shop (would have left my house unlockable and vulnerable for up to five days). Instead, I fixed it with a modified chopstick to hold the broken mechanism in place... (2) Second door was an exterior door for a bathroom remodel, also in 2012. The door featured an opening window. Casement plastic around the window (white) looked cheap and has already begun sagging. Window worked fine for about 1.5 years, then became a struggle to open. Again, out of warranty. I ran some wax around the frame, which helped, but the door has been a disappointment. (4) Third door ordered was in 2014 for kitchen to garage. Quality was very important since door was to be stained rather than painted. Went personally to the door shop, looked at inventory, selected wood for door, specified which side was to be interior and which exterior, and was given a pick-up date. When I went to get it, it wasn't ready. No one had called to let me know the door wasn't ready. When I showed the pick-up date on my paperwork, the vice-president (who was working the counter) pointed at a sign on the wall that said delivery dates are subject to confirmation. Apparently that sign meant that I had to call to confirm--but this was nowhere on the invoice, nor had it been mentioned during the purchase transaction. My contractor was waiting at my place to install, but I had to pay him and send him away since the door wasn't ready. When the door was finally ready (one week late), it was backwards. The side I had specified for inside the house faced the garage, and the ratty-looking side was in my kitchen. Bergy denied making any mistakes, and I've been stuck with this expensive door that irritates me every time I look at it.
Description of Work: Supplied custom doors. Over the past four years, I ordered three different doors from Bergy. All three have problems; the last one was the worst one, and I will not do business with Bergy again.
