I am very happy with the result. She has a great process that includes listening to the client objectives, understanding their esthetic, and building a plan. One thing she does is to pick out a key piece for a room and build the design from that. In the case of my living room it was a beautiful rug and in the bedroom it was a vintage chandelier. This establishes a general color palate and overall vibe for the room. From there she works out all the soup to nuts details from furniture options to cabinet hardware and everything in between. She does a great job finding unique and interesting pieces as well as the more conventional items. This was my first time working with a designer and Susan made the process easy and enjoyable. She honored my opinions and offered suggestions (which I personally needed!) She also considers both form and function in her designs, making the spaces both beautiful and livable. Susan draws upon a team of skilled and professional contractors to carry out the work, all of which I would hire again. The cabinetry work I had done was exquisite. This project involved essentially all the trades - plumbing, painting, electrical, woodwork, and tile work. Not only was the work done well, but Susan did all the scheduling and coordination. One last note from my experience. The bedroom rug was not laying flat. Susan and her assistant tenaciously worked to sort this out which included trying 3 different rug pads. It did get fixed and they took care of it including working with the vendors to ship back the ineffective pads. I had a similar experience with the towel hook on the shower door, which was absurdly high when first installed. Susan worked with the vendor to get it sorted out. My point is that she will work till you are satisfied.

Susan was very easy to work with, and committed to finding me things that I would love. She has a great eye and lots of contacts for finding things that I could never have found myself, for very affordable prices. Despite me changing my mind multiple times, she was very patient with me! She worked within my budget and was very straightforward about what would and would not work and why. I am beyond thrilled with my new updated house, and get rave reviews from my friends!

We want to redo our master bedroom but be sympathetic to the ethos of our 1950's home. Having never worked with a designer before we were not sure what to expect but Susan came up with some creative solutions to some design issues that had been stalling the project. She really understood what we were going for - we are delighted with our new Master Bedroom!

Susan did a fantastic job of designing and overseeing the renovation of my master bathroom. During our initial meeting, she listened to my likes and dislikes and incorporated them into her design. She also asked for my opinions along the way which I thought was very important. I was out of town for most of the renovation so Susan mainly dealt with the construction crew and coordinated efforts with them. Susan pretty much took care of everything and I came home to a beautiful, brand new bathroom! Her attention to detail is great and pointed out a lot of things that I would never have thought of. I would definitely use Susan again.

It went very well. Susan is extremely efficient and well organized. I live in another state part time and she handled delivery and installation of many items and supervised trades people that the job required while I was gone. She can provide a good subcontractor for anything you need. Most importantly, we love her sense of color and her wonderful taste in fabrics, furniture and accessories. The bedroom that she created for us is so strikingly beautiful yet relaxing that when we show it to our friends, they don't want to leave. Many decorators can create a fabulous look with unlimited funds. We gave Susan a budget and she was able to meet it without sacrificing anything in style. She has wonderful sources for shopping and whenever possible, used things that we already owned to create a sophisticated look. In short, we could not be happier with Susan's work.

I set up an interview with Susan. She was on time, brought an impressive portfolio, listened to my needs and concerns. She responded with some ideas within 48hours. We had daily email exchanges just to narrow down my likes/dislikes so she could get a feel for what direction to go in. The following week she brought fabric samples, furniture and lamp photos. Because she seemed to really have an understanding for what would look right in our type of house everything went pretty quickly.

She was great. She was creative.

I also had her do my breakfast room and living room. She is really good and does a good job. She really had an eye to quality and didn’t choose anything expensive. I felt comfortable with her recommendations and I will use her again in the future.

It was great working with Susan. As you would expect she has a good eye for coordinating colors, textures and layout . (She suggested not to put the toilet next to the tub otherwise you look at the toilet while relaxing in the bathtub.) She listens, gives good suggestions/advice, she is very personable and last but not least her hourly rate of $125/hour was reasonable. I'm so glad that I decided to hire a designer to help with the selection of seemingly endless options especially the tile, and I'm equally glad that I found Susan Deneau to guide me. Now that the construction is underway, I plan to have Susan come back to help me with a few remaining details such as selecting paint colors.

Working with Susan to redesign my new condo has been a great experience. I had never worked with a designer before, so wasn't really sure what to expect, and my initial plan was to find someone to do a few hours consultation with. After researching various designers on Angie's List, based on her great reviews I called Susan to schedule a two-hour consultation and figured I'd take it from there on my own. My initial meeting with Susan was great... I loved her ideas and could tell right away that she has the instinct for color and design that I was looking for. Needless to say, what I had initially thought would be a two-hour consultation became a several month partnership working together to redesign my new condo, and I couldn't be happier with the results. We have repainted all of the rooms, wallpapered a few accent walls, completely redesigned the master bathroom, replaced carpet and window treatments in a few rooms, selected and installed many new light fixtures and selected several pieces of new furniture. As a dramatic finishing touch, Susan found a large collection of inexpensive vintage paintings which we had custom framed and they look absolutely gorgeous on the walls. In addition to her great sense of style, working with Susan also provided me access to A+ contractors for a variety of the things we did. Susan engaged and coordinated with the painters, a wallpaper hanger, carpet installers, an electrician and the custom framers. The quality of the work that was done by her contractors was flawless across the board, and with Susan coordinating it and making sure everything gets done right, it couldn't have been easier. The whole experience from start to finish has been fantastic. When I fist picked up the phone to call Susan, I was feeling overwhelmed and didn't really know where to start. Susan has made the process fun and exciting and the finished product is a home that looks better than I had ever imagined. I would certainly recommend Susan to any of my friends, she has great taste and is a pleasure to work with.

We have hired Susan multiple times to help provide insight in how best to decorate our townhouse. She was great in helping us with paint color, furniture arrangement, flooring options and window treatments. She was able to compliment and improve upon our modern design approach.

It started with looking at the space and measuring and getting information about how the rooms would be used. She asked about what we wanted and any color preferences and the time table to finish the project We picked out the carpet. Then she looked at my husbands old office to see what could be used and the measurements of the desk and other items. She brought over paint samples and painted swatches on the walls for both rooms. She brought fabrics and pictures of lamps and cabinets. She told what she thought an overall design and we played all. All timetables were met and there were no problems--none. My husband loves the space and so do his clients.

Susan was very responsive adn very reasonable. I was skeptical of the value of having an internal designer and thought that my wife and I could just choose colors ourselves. But it was spectacular having someone who listened carefully to what each of us said as we went around the house and then making suggestions in line with our ideas while also injecting her excellent ideas too. She had us look at color samples there and then. Afterwards, she produced an email listing color choices for each room so that we could try out the color scheme.

We had fun collaborating together (made the interior design aspect of the project pleasant and stress-free). The end result exceeded our expectations and what we had imagined. The entire furnishing phase came in under budget as a result of some great Ebay and vintage finds, and Susan’s varied trade resources, etc. She has great sub-contractors which came in handy, especially after the contractor was finished. Susan pushed us a bit outside our usual style and aesthetic, introducing us to new surface materials, colors and furnishings that we wouldn’t have chosen on our own; We ended up being really happy with these choices. Our motto with Susan became… “Trust Me” when we couldn’t visualize what something would look like, we trusted her vision of the final result. Susan always listened to what we expressed our objective was & what we wanted to create: a comfortable, cozy, inviting & stylish home and that’s what was achieved. Susan didn’t put the look or style of the spaces ahead of their function, but made sure both of those were equally represented. She was efficient, met deadlines, was organized and helped solve problems when they arose with the contractor or his subs or any design dilemma’s that came up...Susan could hunt down the perfect item and is a perfectionist (in a good way). I have hired her to help us furnish another home in Utah! Even many miles away!

We had a very 1970's full bathroom that needed a lot of TLC but we didn't have the kind of budget that would allow a full gut and remodel. Susan figured out a way to make our bathroom updated and modern without having to replace the tub or toilet (which means huge savings). We had tacky 1970's plastic shower doors that just held onto grime and made me never want to take a bath. When we removed the doors a strip of tile had to be replaced. Rather than just replacing the tile with the same white tile that was there before, Susan suggested a bold black and white checkerboard pattern tile that wrapped around the border of the shower. I was initially skeptical, but it was the right decision. The bathroom looks incredible and we've received nothing but compliments from our house guests. I would highly recommend Susan to anyone looking to transform any room in their house while maintaining your budget. She also has great resources and works with the best contractors in town.

Susan arrived punctually with a friendly and professional attitude and all pertinent materials/samples. She followed my lead regarding how much "hand holding" I needed from her (a lot, in my case), and made helpful suggestions at every step in the process, including driving around the neighborhood with me and commenting on some of the color schemes I liked or didn't like.. Before finalizing the plans, she put samples of the colors up on the front of the house, thus helping me eliminate the last uncertainty. She was good natured, supportive, and professional throughout, including going above and beyond the call of duty to come over to help me deal with the painters when necessary. I could never have so successfully completed this job without her.

OK, but there is a 10% "referral fee" for sub-contractors on top of the hourly fee. I would also suggest asking for larger samples. I had a cork floor installed, and the sample was quite different than the floor once it was laid. Susan has gorgeous taste, and if you keep these comments in mind, you will be very happy with her work.

Upon purchasing our 1940's home my wife and I knew that we wanted to change the entire floor plan of the house and give our new home a modern look from the inside/out. We also knew that to accomplish this goal we needed to find a respectful, reliable, and well-informed interior designer who could help us throughout the process. Enter Susan Deneau! The entire remodel took about a year, but Susan was on board the whole way. She met with us just about every week in person or via phone, she visited the house to see how the contractors were progressing, she emailed us hundreds of ideas for our choices, she kept us on task and guided us through the process by setting deadlines for when we should decide each element of the remodel, and she listened to our feedback and helped us make design choices that fit our style. She also added her own vision to the design scheme too which really helped pull all the rooms together! She was an excellent problem solver and her sub-contractors were amazing! We were most impressed with her ability to communicate with us at every step of the way. We always knew what was going on even when our general contractor neglected to tell us something; Susan was always there to keep us in the loop. We were most impressed with her design recommendations for paint choices, and tile choices! We would not have the beautiful house we currently live in without Susan's help. If we had to pick an interior designer for a future project we would choose Susan every day of the week and twice on Sundays. =) Such a great find!

I bought a 1940s-era house 3 months ago, & after having an inordinate amount of (necessary) work done to the structure itself, I'd run dry on ideas for solving interior issues. I found Susan on Angie's List & asked her if she'd be willing to just stop by for an hour or 2 to help resolve a couple of specific problems. She was very receptive, flexible in her scheduling, & extremely pleasant to deal with. Once at my house, she suggested a location & specific type of living room bookcases to match my taste, & we looked them up online & actually measured to fit. She also recommended a few strategic pieces of furniture for my entry & clearly described what she was visualizing -- a particular kind chair that could also function as a piece of sculpture, for instance. And she advised on paint, window treatments & other details that brain & budget fatigue that prevented me from taking on. She wasn't locked into any particular style: she suggested both modern & ethnic touches. The next morning, Susan emailed links to about 20 examples -- literally -- of the kinds of furniture she suggested. All this for a one-hour fee of $125 & a very pleasant experience besides.

She worked with me to create the best designs without making me feel rushed or compromised. She's very respectful of budget, no matter what the size and wouldn't charge me a percentage for anything that I could order myself online. She has fantastic subcontractors (flooring, tiler, painter, electrician, builder) and if there were any snags, she took care of them right away. She's efficient, organized, creative, insightful and passionate about interior design which makes the process fun! I'd recommend her to anyone, no matter how small or big the project may be.

She was great to work with. We shared a lot of ideas and found middle ground throughout the process. She is budget conscious and consistently saved us money with savvy purchases and furniture refurbishment. Without Susan, our house would have had tan walls and looked completely boring. The end result is a wonderful mix of mid-century pieces with modern organic elements. We absolutely love it.

I was super impressed with her work. She had an excellent sense of my personal styles and how to meet our needs. She has great communication skills and was very willing to accommodate us. We have not done anything yet as my partner and I are still not in agreement on all the aspects of our planned remodel.
