George sent us a bid from his phone, nothing in writing with his signature. He also would not give any references for his work. He stated he would only give me a written bid when finalizing the deal. I told him I needed everything in writing before hand so I could make an informative decision. Four other companies gave me what I needed no problem. George wanted $11,000 and would include everything. Not acceptable for a well established company to do things this way.

Here's my story (bear with me if you want a good roofer): Soon after the heavy rains hit Southern CA this past winter, I realized -- along with thousand of other homeowners -- that I needed a new roof. So I contacted six potential roofers using a variety of sources, including Angie's List. Here's how they went: 1. Left vm; no response. 2. Got a vm that said -- I'm not kidding here -- "We're very busy right now and may not call you back for a while." They never called me back. 3. Contacted company that said someone would come out to look at my house and give me an estimated. When I didn't hear from them, I called and emailed several times, but never got a reply. 4. Got a very low estimate from this person, who never asked me what kind of roofing material I wanted or would tell me how long it would take. Turns out he is not licensed or insured. I passed. 5. This person came out and looked at the house and within days give me an estimate that was so high it would have required me to sell my house just to pay for it. (OK, slight exaggeration -- but not much.) And oh, yes, because they were so busy, they couldn't start my job for months. I passed. 6. Trusting a roofer with an Angie's List Certification AND a Super Service Award, I contacted George Parks Roofing and Painting in Santa Monica, CA, a family-owned business. George came out the next day to look at the house, and within days had sent me a fair and reasonable estimate. When I asked him how long it would be before he could start, he told me his crew could begin the following Monday. Really? Yes, he promised. That following Monday, his crew was there and started replacing my roof. After a few days, when it was obvious his folks were doing a good job, I took George up on his offer to paint my house (which it needed, but I was going to save that for another day) at a discount. That Saturday, the new roof was complete and looked beautiful. Then the painters began. One week later, they, too, where done. And they, too, did a great job -- even adding more layers of paint than originally planned because the first coats didn't quite do the job. At all times, George's crew were polite and responded quickly to any concerns I had -- debris in yard, spots missed with paint, etc. And George was in touch with me on a daily basis, stopping by the house at least once a day to make sure everything was going as planned. Bottom line: The job was done well and on time and at a reasonable price. I told me wife as we were nearing the end that something must be wrong -- a contractor fulfilling every promise he made and leaving my house beautiful. But there was nothing wrong. George Parks did what he said he would do. What a concept! I can't promise you'll have the same experience I did, but I could not be more pleased. Job well done.

Quick and painless. Hasn't rained since but I have faith in George (son) work and ethics. He was awesome to work with !!

It went great. Chris gave us a fair price and delivered quality work on time and budget.

George was wonderful. The roof is snug, tight, good-looking and already has performed well during long and harsh storms. (I wrote an extensive review on Angie's list after the work was done. Don't know why I'm being asked again. You can find my review. It's posted.)

I had a really good experience with them.

Called George Parks on Monday 2/6 because we had water dripping into our bedroom. I was out of town but there was someone at the house to show him where the leak was. He called me after going on the roof and said that he couldn't see where the leak was coming from. He said the roof was old and needed to be replaced. He said that it would cost $18,000. That afternoon I had another roofer take a look. He immediately found a crack in the roofing and fixed it for $50. No more leak.

I was extremely pleased with the service. He took photos to show me the. Condition of the roof. Explained everything. Was very supportive during process. Called to update me on status of puchasing supplies, obtaining permits, etc. was personally here to check on work when it was being done. Work was done promptly and inspection was arranged for day after completion. George even called to tell me the results of the inspection. (It passed, of course. ). This firm knows the meaning of good customer service.

Just a short follow up(see 8/13/14 review). It's been about 2.5 years and a lot of sun, wind and rain. The roof had zero problems-no leaks and looks like it was put on yesterday! Also, the paint job still appears new! Clearly, George Parks roofing and painting was the right choice for the job.

It went great! George was able to meet and give us an estimate the day after I called and did the work a couple of days later, as soon as the rain stopped. They completed the job and cleaned up all in one day, couldn't be happier. George came by the house and checked on the progress every few hours, took care of the the permit and inspection, made sure the clean up was thorough, and double checked that all was right and I was happy. Thank you George.

Excellent. George Parks Roofing completed the work on the roof on my house and garage. I am very satisfied with the quality of the work and recommend them to anyone needing roof work. They were professional, on-time, neat, performed quality work. I was informed about the progress at all stages, and what I would need to do in the future to maintain the integrity of the roof. The work was finished ahead of schedule and inspection completed.

George is professional and his crew was as well. It was a small job that was only 1/2 day of work but the crew kept the workspace clean and were quite friendly; I am pleased with the end result.

Very well. This was just after a rain when it is difficult to get roofers to respond. They were very polite, respectful and timely. Showed up the next day, fixed the roof, would refer them to anybody. Cost was $5,500 which covered coating the flat roof with a fiberglass composite material, is uv repellent and stopped the leak. They did some minor repairs as well to the down spout.

So about a year ago I had George come out and seal / patch my roof. He did a great job. I haven't spoken to him since until today. my gutter was clogged after the last rain causing all kinds of grief. I called him and he remembered me and within 2hrs was on my roof fixing the issue. Unclogged the gutter and cleaned off my roof for about an hour. I ask him how much and he's says no charge. Have a happy thanksgiving. Needless to say I was blown away. I cannot stress how professional and kind George is. I highly recommend George park for any roofing issues.

George's roofers and painters were excellent. They cleaned up after each work day, and when they were done, my roof and eaves look brand new. Plus George was personally supervising all aspects of the job, and made sure everything went well and that I was happy with the job.

I found George here on Angie's List and I can honestly say, after working with him -- or, rather, having him work for me -- that all of the positive reviews here are spot on! George and his crew repaired our roof quickly and at a very reasonable cost. I could not be happier, and I would definitely hire them again.

He has been extreamly good he follows up and makes sure everything is ok easy to deal with and very accomidating I have been extreamly pleased. He comes when he says he will come. the people who work for him are very nice. His prices are very reasonable. He has been very reliable doing work for us over the past year.

The interaction went exceptionally well. Even though I was only calling for informational purposes, the gentleman I spoke to was extremely courteous and knowledgeable. I will definitely keep them in mind in the future!

Crew arrived on time, they were friendly and efficient and got started quickly, the whole project was completed, area very well cleaned (even inside my garages). They left everything perfectly. George is very friendly and outgoing. Nice meeting you, George and thank you for a job very well done.

In a time when most roofing companies don't return calls (I contacted 9), I was quite impressed with George Parks Jr. He really came through every step of the way. I had an estimate and a completed roof within one week. His hardworking crew were professional, polite and always went the extra mile. Clean up was fast and very thorough. I installed a cool roof and from the estimate through to completion, I could not be happier. Even my neighbors commented on how impressed they were with the efficient and well managed process. I highly recommend him to anyone.

I contacted George Parks via his website over a week ago regarding some repair/maintenance tasks on my house. It has been over a week and I still have not received any response. Based on the positive reviews I was hoping to have a good experience, but he never responded.

Mr. Parks responded promptly to our request for an estimate, went over the details of the project, and provided a detailed estimate which was fair for the job at hand. The materials were ordered and delivered promptly and the work commenced and was completed quickly, within 5 days. We were very happy with the work and cleanup. I would highly recommend George for roofing. They are also doing our gutters and he also does exterior painting.

Was threatened by george parks junior with legal action to not write a bad review when I insisted on a full written estimate and said its unprofessional . Angie's list sole purpose is to find vendors based on reviews. Roof was not physically inspected and didn't get the estimate with breakdown on their letterhead with job details after asking many times. Ballpark figure given via email so I didn't perform the job . Not comfortable dealing with them .
