Description of Work: Needed eval of computer. Rep COULD have taken it in, repaired it and we'd have paid the cost. BUT, it wasn't worth our $$. He willingly gave of his time to help us make a good decision.

Description of Work: Nick came in and totally fixed/hooked up/updated/saved my computers and laptops. He got my difficult wireless up, fixed a printer connection, cleaned up several PC's and overall saved my sanity!

+ -1 moreIt went very well. My internet was down, but it wasn't the usual suspects. I called Nick to come figure it out. Took him 5 minutes; my browser just needed to be re-set. Because of the 1 hour minimum, I kept him about 20 minutes answering other questions and checking a few other things and he was very gracious about offering to answer questions on the phone should I have some issues in the future. Very personable and courteous.

+ -1 moreThis was a successful and rewarding experience, and I would certainly call Nick again if [when] I have problems with my computers.
Description of Work: I had been having problems with a wireless network, the computer at the "receiving" end of the signal was crawling and often not getting a signal at all. There were also problems of sluggishness on both of the computers used in the house. I called Nick and he returned my call quickly; we arranged a visit very soon after. He arrived on time and went to work efficiently. Unlike some computer professionals I've dealt with, Nick communicates clearly and helpfully. He tried various solutions before resorting to replacing the "wireless receiver" and he was able to adjust the signal so that it now works reliably [within the parameters of Time Warner]. He also helped me clean up various unnecessary files on both PCs so that their operations are smoother. [The cost figure includes both the part installed, approximately $180, and several hours of labor].

+ -1 moreGreat! He returned my initial call quickly, came promptly as scheduled, stayed as long as I needed him to. He got several messages from clients while he was here (which he'd glance at briefly), and since one of them seemed urgent, I urged him to return the call and give them help over the phone. He did not charge me for the time he spent doing that troubleshooting.
Description of Work: Nick cleaned up problems I'd been having with MS Word, reconfigured my external hard drive, showed me how to do a backup, installed a wireless printer connection to my laptop, and generally tweaked the 2 computers (desktop and laptop) while patiently teaching me how to maintain them.

+ -1 moreHe gave me a consultation that basically meant that he wouldn't make any money on me. I felt like he was very trustworthy, because I wouldn't have known the difference if he could have repaired it or not. I found him extremely honest and trustworthy.
Description of Work: They provided a consultation. I poured water on my laptop and he suggested that I wait 24 hours to see if it would dry out. He said if it didn't come on in about a day, that probably the motherboard was dead, and I'd have to buy a new one. He wasn't trying to perform unnecessary repairs, which I appreciate.

+ -1 moreAwful service! Why go to the trouble to call us back, confirm an appointment, and then be a no show? Mr. Curran had a great record on Angie's List, but clearly there are limits to this system. I could not contact this vendor again, I waited for him to show up nearly 2 hours, and he never returned our calls as to his where abouts. I could never recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Mr. Curran did not show up as he said he would today: no call, no explanation.

+ -1 moreAgain an excellent job. Mr. Curran was on time and completed the work a little past the time he was to leave to another appointment. Very clean; no mess; advised additional information regarding the use and care of the computers. I am planning on calling him again as one as I am ready with a new Macintosh.
Description of Work: In about an 1 1/2 hours Mr Curran work on 4 computers all with varying problems (! PC;3 Macs ) and solved each problem Mr Curran does indeed know his computers and is very fast. Excellent job.

+ -1 moreEver since our wireless equipment was installed a few months ago, my co-worker has been getting booted off the Internet many times a day. A separate issue: incoming email problems. I called all the Angie's List computer companies in our area & reached 3. Nicholas was the only one who listened carefully to my description of the problems, asked intelligent questions & said he could come on the day & at the time we'd be available. On the day of our appointment, he called to let me know he was on the way, but delayed by traffic, which was appreciated. Once here, he tackled the problems sequentially, explained what he had done & said honestly that it still might be necessary for us to purchase a new wireless router. Trying to save money, we resisted doing so during his first visit. Initially everything worked perfectly, but the booting-off problem didn't disappear entirely, so 2 weeks later I called Nicholas & he came over & installed a new wireless router. Now everything is hunky-dory.
Description of Work: Here's the info from our invoices about what was done (since I'm not a techie): Troubleshoot wireless connection, install updated driver from Dell, adjust wireless network for channel 10, remove conflicting wireless software from Dell, remove additional wireless network names from Allow List, troubleshoot winlogon.exe error related to spyware, install ewido anti-spyware and windows defender, remove ''jkkll.dll'' vmundo spyware remnant and install new Linksys wireless router. Additionally, Nicholas Curran answered questions regarding email troubles my co-worker was having. This work was done for a non-profit organization in a 2-person satellite office. (We rely on a wireless set up for the use of our 2 computers, 1 printer [All-in-one], and our individual Internet/email access). Nicholas is clearly very competent, but also kind, patient and professional in his demeanor. He charges $100.00 per hour.

+ -1 moreJob 1: Nickk was on time; took all the necessary time needed to complete the job, very clean and polite; price was more than expected, however, the problems were more then anticipated. Job 2: Very pleased with entire job and everything is working perfectly. On time; very, very polite and reasonably priced for the amount of work accomplished. Will defiantly call him again when I set up my computer and my wife's computers at her school.
Description of Work: Job 1: Did a lot of work both on the computer, getting it on line, setting up the printer, and installing a new chip.($400.) Job 2: Redesigned and set up a whole new system with a different computer and elimated many wires making the connections much cleaner.($300.)
