Jose is top notch! He gets the job done on time, and helps us stick to our budget! He is always so friendly, professional, and has a great attitude. The yard looks beautiful, and anytime we have a quick question or concern about maintaining it, he always returns my calls promptly. He and his crew were a joy to work with and I will use them again in the future!

Great. I had hired him to start all of my weekly maintenance back in February, and his crew is really thorough. Job was finished on time, on budget, as promised. Currently waiting on cost of proposed plantings, and we will move forward to re-do the front yard slopes. Will also be using Barba Landscape to do side yard for next phase. Jose is very easy to work with, and is mindful of staying within budget on our projects.

They were horrible. He came down and stayed about 45 minutes. That was for the 99 dollars of the coupon or whatever it was. He said it didn't include a drawing for the landscaping and that would be 300 dollars. I said okay do it and I will pay you the 300 dollars. Week after week I called him and called him. He said 'I am getting to it', 'my computer is down', 'Blah, blah, blah". I said just send me an estimate of how much it is going to be and then it was another couple of weeks. I called him every couple of days. I never got the drawing and never got anything from Barba Landscape & Design. It was me calling him week after week. If he didn't want the job all he had to say was I didn't want the job. It was not nice. He kept me stringing me along. I kept calling him and it was awful. I would never, never use this provider again in the future. He is not reliable and nothing. I had to bug him to make the appointment and then when he made the appointment he calls me and he says 'I am caught off in a job and I can't come'. I said okay and asked 'When can you come?'. He makes another appointment and that he cancelled too. He did finally come. I didn't have to pay the 300 dollars as I never got the drawing.

First time Jose called me, I explained to him the work that was needed to be done at my place. Jose told me that the work was more of a "clean-up job than a maintenance job" without coming out to assess the place. He suggested that it would probably be better to do a one day session of 4 hours, rather than 1 hour per week for 4 weeks as agreed in the offer. He told me that he would call me back to set up a date so he could come over and the work. So, I got tired of waiting and requested a full refund. It was almost a month since I requested this service

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it went pretty badly. It did not turn out to be a Big Deal. It took about two weeks for him to come out because he was having a little bit of scheduling problems. When he came here he did not really offer any tips on landscape design. Instead he asked what we would like to do so we told him what we were thinking. He showed us a portfolio of work he had done and told us he works with a landscape architect that can do planning and draw designs, but he did not offer much advice on how to do the landscaping which is what we were expecting from the description of the Big Deal. It was more like we paid $99 to have him come out, ask us what we wanted and then promise to give us an estimate for the work. We did not think it was a Big Deal. He was supposed to send an estimate to us within a few days, but he actually never sent it. We went back and forth on text messages and voice mails where he said he was busy and was going to get it for us. He never did send us the estimate so we eventually gave up on trying to contact him anymore. We knew we were not going to get any written plans because the Big Deal was clear about that. He really uses this as an opportunity to come out and hear our plans and promise to give an estimate. We expected a verbal estimate, but did not get it. We were a little taken aback by that. We did not get what we wanted out of it and never heard back from him. The only redeeming thing was that he was polite while he was here, but it was a pretty bad experience. He showed up on time when he finally made it.

Jose answered my call promptly, and we met as scheduled. He was very knowledgeable about our current plantings- pointing out light needs, vitamin deficiencies etc. in problem areas. He gave us great suggestions for shrubs and plants that can be added to the yard, and many ideas for hardscape and back yard revisions. We are currently waiting for estimates for these projects.

Unfortunately, he never followed up with an estimate or design by email as I requested. Ultimately, it's been a disappointing experience.

He came out and looked at it 3 or 4 weeks ago and I've been chasing him every since trying to get him to provide a plan and he has not. I contacted him shortly after that day and he played telephone tag for a little while. The provider is totally unreliable, I don't know about his work yet because I haven't seen anything. I certainly don't understand why he cannot deliver something, he said that he would bring it by on Saturday and put it in the mailbox and it was not done. The price of the service was good. He was on time with the third time we set an appointment, when he came out to survey. He hasn't been on time with anything except for that time.

Jose and the team did an outstanding job! The property was a bit overgrown from the prior owner - the team worked about 6 hours, and it looks fantastic! We are happy to now move to a regular maintenance contract with them! Great job!

I was very pleased with the amount of work that was done and the skill. They were very gracious and willing to stop and show me what they did and why. I just sit in the patio area and enjoy the view of my beautiful new yard. I am confident that because of their care my yard will be everything I hope. I now look out with pleasure not guilt about all the things that had needed to be done.They were very knowledgable about the plants both in pruning and in the placement of plants. I had had some in direct sun light and they were not doing well so they helped me pick out a semi shade place where the plant would do much better.

Received original response the day after deal was purchased which was to draw up landscaping plans and give estimates of cost. Emailed back asking him to notify us when he would be in Santa Barbara so that we could set up time to meet and discuss needs. No response after 1 month and emailed again asking him to notifiy us when we could get together. After a couple of more weeks, still no response. We have decided that we no longer want to work with this provider since he has not gotten in touch with us and would like a refund for services not rendered.

After two no shows I decided this was a company I didn't want to do business with

New, updated all-metal landscape lights, including pathway and uplights, were installed with a new transformer and system light timer. They made sure that the wiring was installed 12-18" underground so that they were safely hidden from my gardeners. Barba Landscaping arrived on schedule and efficiently removed the old light system and installed the new one, all within 4 hours. They also did an excellent job of clean-up before leaving.

It went very well. I talked to Jose the week before, he sent a bid, and it was scheduled and completed the following week. He and his crew showed up on time and completed the work in one day (as planned).

We had sort of a slow start. We had a couple of missed communications at the beginning it was pretty smooth after that. Jose did everything that we asked for and in some cases even better than we could have imagined. We were surprised at how fast the lawn started coming in despite how cold and wet the weather was. The front plating area was exactly what I wanted and looks great and ready to plant landscaping. The south side of the house was perfect. And even though there was some difficulty in getting the north planter irrigation in but the managed to get it routed there. Jose didn't take credit card previously, but we really wanted to pay by credit card. Jose actually went out and set up a merchant account so he could accept credit cards. We were thrilled. The job did take longer than expected but we were not in a hurry or had a time constraint, which worked out fine.

It took more than one phone call to schedule Jose, but when he came out he had some good ideas and a clear idea of what I had in mind. Getting his estimate was a bit of a struggle as he was having some computer issues, but we worked it out. Ultimately, I did not have the work done at all, as I chose to not pursue some of the projects and the gardener which did our entire housing complex was able to provide a new tree. However, I was happy with Jose's service.

Jose was very informative and forthright with information and timelines for the project. They worked very closely to not go over my budget and were VERY affordable for the work that was completed. He and his team was very respectful and flexible with our special hours for work and at one point needed to quickly reschedule the concrete pouring and texturing due to some rules within our complex. I was blown away by the customer service. I have rarely worked with contractors who have managed budgets and timelines this accurately and most importantly, the outcome was amazing. We were very pleased with the result of our patio and will highly recommend Barba Landscaping to all of our adoring neighbors and friends.

Talked with Jose on Thursday. Said he was headed out of town and would be by on Monday. No word, no call, no show. On Wednesday I called and he said he was very busy but wanted to come out Thursday. I said pass.

My husband made an appointment, but the provider cancelled 15 minutes before and asked to postpone. We then made another appointment for two days later, but nobody ever showed up.

The price is kind of steep. The grass does look better because of their care. They are punctual. The quality of their work seems to be good.

We contacted several providers, including Barba Landscape, from Angie's List for quotes. Jose Barba called us back within one minute and was so nice. Each time we met or spoke, Jose was prompt and professional, but relaxed and easy to talk to. We met one week later at my property and discussed the project. He gave me several new ideas, as well as what would look good or go with what our house looked like already. He looked at my ideas of what I liked and then the next time showed me pictures and brought samples of stone to select. We signed a professional contract and everyone followed it. Once the job began, if we noticed any issue, we put in a call and Jose dealt with it and fixed it the next day. Our project had a beautiful turnout. We are so pleased with the end result and are planning to use Barba Landscape for our next project-the backyard! Thanks, Jose and your crew. Great job- we are very happy!

We found Jose Barda Landscaping on Angie's List. Based on the list's ratings we contacted Jose, discussed the job, and got an acceptable estimate. Throughout the project, Jose was easy to contact and met all is commitments. We would hire Barda Landscaping again in a heart beat.

He never showed up, nor called to say he was canceling the job. Total of 3 commitments from Jose Barba, and total of 3 failures to call, cancel, or appear to do the work. Regarding the message that I missed: It is not possible that I "missed" a call, as not only do we have voice mail, we have active caller I.D. on all incoming calls that is required or the caller will not be able to access voice mail at all. I truly would have received the information ( phone #, name) of the person calling, even if I did not receive a verbal message. I did not. Perhaps you misdialed? Only option I can find. Thank you, anyway, Jose; we appreciate your response/apology.

I just fired my gardener who did a poor job, was charging me 265/month. I got a quote from a different service, 175 a month for basic service, and another hundred to do additional stuff like planting, etc. Jose was polite, answered my call quickly, made an appointment and arrived promptly. But he said he couldn't "touch" my garden for less than 500/month, bare minimum. I am sure he does fine work but it was far enough over the others that I couldn't even consider it.

He came out to give me an estimate for sprinkler repair and said he would return in a few days. He never returned or called back. The job was probably going to be around $850 but he was not sure he could remove the parts without damaging them so we agreed to $200 for the a visit to see if he could take the pipes apart and re-connect one valve.
