Jose is the best! I have bought and sold 17 houses and had landscape issues with all of them. Until I meet and contracted the services of Jose Barba, all of my experiences had been negative. Jose changed all of that. He is the most knowledgeable, honest and professional landscaper/ designer I have ever met. He gave great suggestions and provided service over and above the original quote. I will never use any other landscaper in the future. Plus, he is a nice person. I would have Jose over to my house for lunch or a beer anytime. He is truly good people!

José could not have been more professional and upfront. He took the time to really inspect the condition of my yard and irrigation system. He explained his pricing (which is reasonable) in a clear manner and offered several ideas for ways to easily improve upon what is already there. I was very impressed with his professionalism and I feel confident that he will stand by his workmanship.

IMMEDIATE HELP -- and they are more than just "landscapers"! After two highly-rated plumbers refused to even look at the damaged main sprinkler system valve that was suddenly pouring water, I called Barba Landscape. Less than ten minutes later, Jose (of Barba Landscape) and I had briefly negotiated and agreed on a reasonable price for the repair. Twenty minutes after I first dialed the number, a repair-person was on-site and starting repairs. Ten minutes after that, Jose called me to tell me that there was also a leaking sprinkler head -- which they would fix for free. So, thirty (30) minutes after I dialed Barba Landscape's telephone number, my original problem and a future one were being fixed. I waited a few days to see if the work would hold up. Now, I am writing this review. So if you need IMMEDIATE HELP -- call Barba Landscape. Worries over.

Didn't go at all. Messaged Jose using Angie's List Messages on Saturday, 8/6, around 12:00. Sent a reminder yesterday, 8/11, and nothing today, 8/12. I can only assume that he doesn't read his messages from a potential customer with a large job for him.

Beautiful work done in the front and back yard.

The removal of grass and then installation of the stones took two full days. They cleaned everything up and hauled all the grass away Immediately . Looks fabulous. I am very happy with the installation.

He was very polite and honest. I was impressed with the quick response. He responded less than 24 hours after my email.

From initial consultation to actual work performed, Barba Landscape was accurate, on time and within budget. His employees were courteous and Jose was present at every level of the project. Very pleased with the work. Gave Jose the monthly maintenance of our property. Very Happy with the outcome of our "new" outdoor living areas.

It started pretty well, and then things went downhill. Jose was super friendly and knowledgeable, and he gave great advice for the initial clean-up and maintenance of our garden. He gave me what I thought was a very reasonable quote for initial clean-up of the garden of our new house ($825), and agreed to haul away all the debris. He also said he would have a three-man crew there all day, with himself as one of the crew members. Things went well while he was there, but I know he also realized the job was bigger than he had expected. In addition, he left in the early afternoon, leaving two guys to complete the work. They misunderstood his instructions, and did not finish a large chunk of the job, which I only noticed after they had removed the debris from the partial clean-up. This caused a great deal of extra work, and the guys were there pretty late. When Jose came back, he agreed that the job was not finished, and said it would be completed the following week. He offered to not take payment until then, but I paid him anyway. I think the quote was too low for the work that ended up being needed, and wish he had told me he would need to revise the quote to finish. The following week, the work was not done, as Jose said the guys only had time to do a regular service. Given my travel and Jose's work schedule, we found it very difficult to find a time when he and I could both be there. I was a bit frustrated with this, but the work in general was of high quality, and included services like hand watering pots in plants, fertilizing, and yard clean-up. Jose and I also discussed long-term maintenance and what should and should not be done in the garden. About a month after this beginning, I went on a business trip to Europe. When I returned, I found that whatever crew had come in had apparently done more 'maintenance', but instead of getting to the items I asked for, they had 'trimmed' all the plants that Jose and I had agreed not to cut, while not finishing the actual clean up that I had requested. There were shrubs half the size they were when I went away, and two large gaps in the hedging greenery where the workers had decided to cut away all the overhanging tendrils and branches from the neighbors' plants (something Jose and I had specifically discussed leaving in place). Jose came over and was immediately sympathetic and promised to fix things--including adding new plants to fill the now numerous holes in our garden. Yet, he never seemed to have time to do this, and when the regular guys came to do the yard, they now seemed reluctant, in the face of errors, to do anything. They spent less than 40 minutes at our house each week, only doing blowing and watering, and not being very complete at either one. After about 6 weeks, I got a note from Jose saying that due to changes in his schedule, he would be able to continue doing my house. He refused to take any money for the maintenance work--so the only payment was the initial $825. Summary: Jose seems like a great and knowledgeable guy to work with. Some of the people he hires clearly are not. I think this job did not work out because the requirements of the garden were unusual and the regular crews were not prepared and experienced enough to handle the unusual demands. I wish this had worked out better--I ended up with some improvements in the garden I bought, but also some losses. Jose is more than fair: he didn't charge me at all for services that didn't work out. I think this was a bad match--I would absolutely work with Jose if he installed the landscaping himself, but I think his company wasn't really ready for this kind of gardening job around a strange existing garden.

He was nice, we talked over ideas and he said he would get back to me but never did.

Jose was enthusiastic, helpful with suggestions and followed through with all the work he promised. After the crew left, the front and back yards looked fantastic. All the weeds were cleared, lawn mowed and everything trimmed and looking neat. Additionally, his crew came back a few days later and spread mulch over a hillside that we have been staring at and not liking. It looks so much better. We are very pleased with the results and will be using Jose's services for regular landscape maintenance. Great job!

Jose took over my monthly maintenance in Oct 2014 and demonstrated a high level of service at the outset. At the beginning he answered calls and sent workers who knew what they were doing. As time went on he became less and less responsive to the point of not returning calls. He also changed out the crew and sent less experienced people who did not perform quality work. I am disappointed because we really thought we had someone we could work with but over time the level of service just continued to decline. In July 2015 we finally moved on to someone else.

Jose and the team are incredible. He re-did all our irrigation, and relandcaped our entire property. It was a wonderful job - his team also performs all my weekly maintenance - I recommend him highly for large and small jobs!

Mr. Barba actually missed our first appointment due to a scheduling error on his part. When I called to see what happened, he apologized and immediately rescheduled for another time convenient for me (on a Sunday). He was very professional, and explained his services well. I did not end up hiring him because his services were over my budget.

I called and said to Jose I got his number from Angies List. He said he'd call me back in one hour. Never did. I called him back 4 hours later and told him what I was looking for. He said he couldn't give me a price over the phone and he needed to come look at the job. I said great tell me what day and time works. He said Monday at 3:00. NEVER SHOWED and didn't even call. I called him to see if he was coming and he didn't answer so I left a message. He basically wasted my time sitting around waiting for him. Totally unprofessional. so glad I didn't find out by hiring him. I have no idea why he has good reviews on here.

They were good and they did it right. They just did their jobs and left and I don't have any complaints.

My overall experience with them is good. They are just prompt, on time and reasonably priced. The price is reasonable; it's a big property. Their quality of service and professionalism is very good. Their responsiveness and punctuality is excellent.

I have been using Barba Landscaping for about 1 month now and their lawn care service has been great. I am now writing b/c they just did some repairs to my sprinkler system. This is a newly remolded house by a flipper and I am now realizing that flippers don't do the best job. I have noticed that some of my sprinkler heads were not working or were spraying in the wrong direction wasting water and now watering other areas causing my lawn to be patchy. They recently one of the main sprinkler control valves broke and water would stream out the side when the sprinklers were on. I was wasting so much water and $$ so I called Jose and within less than 2 days he ordered the parts that were needed and then changed and repaired the various problems around the yard. Not only did he do the job quickly - he saved me over $100 off the original quote for the parts and labor. I was really glad I hired Jose to take care of my lawn and now I am so glad I hired him to take care of sprinkler system as well. It helps to have the same person doing both. And I know that Jose's work is good, fairly priced, fast and responsive. Thank you Jose for a great job. I know with your help my yard will look great for many years to come!

They shaped the plants and showed me how to encourage the growth of the remaining plants.

I want to share that they have done a really good job on my lawn. I plan to use this incredible team for years to come. Thank you for your hard work. I can't imagine how not fun it is to do what you do, but you do it so well!!!! Highly recommended to Angie's List members!!!!

I moved into my new house about 3 weeks ago. During the escrow period the sellers did not maintain the lawn so I inherited a mess. The lawn was way over grown and the sprinklers were set incorrectly. The garden and flower beds had become overcome with weeds. The yard that looked so beautiful during the open house was now a disaster that would have taken me at least 2 weekends to fully clean up - time I didn't have. So I asked all my neighbors for recommendations and mostly got high quotes or service that would mostly be mow, blow and go. I was looking for more-- someone who would help me get back my beautiful yard and help to maintain it. I called few people from Angie's list. All were very nice and responsive and came out to give me a quote - but Jose was the first person I called and the first to come give me a quote. He was so nice and so responsive that he set the bar really high. After meeting everyone, I decided to choose Barba Landscaping. They were a little higher than the others but Jose believes in not nickle and diming his clients. It's one price a month and that includes pulling weeds, looking for problems with lawn and sprinklers, fertilization, mowing and clean up. The price was higher than I hoped but I am so glad I chose Jose. He had his guys come this past Saturday and they spent over 2 hours working on the yard and it already looks 100% better. Then Jose came back personally on Tuesday to inspect the work and did some more to try and get the yard ready for my house warming party. He called me later that day to say he was going to come back again on Thursday to do more work - WOW. All of this was included in the monthly fee. Jose's attention and care to his clients and their yards is amazing. It is clear that he is really passionate about what he does. I am certainly glad I selected Barba Landscaping to maintain the yard of my new house. They are doing a great job in less than 1 week and I am sure it will continue to look better and better. If you are looking for a gardener/landscaper definitely hire Barba. You won't regret it. Barba is also fully licensed and insured which gave me even more peace of mind about hiring him And one final thought, when Jose showed up yesterday, I was at work and he noticed 4 boxes that were delivered to my house and sitting on the front porch in plain site of everyone. Jose took it upon himself to move them to the back yard so they would be safe and out of sight. Wow - how is that for service. No other landscaper would do that. That made it clear to me that Jose definitely cares about establishing a great relationship with his customers.

We met with Jose for a consult, but due to our own budget issues we weren't able to use his services.

Jose was incredible. I'm a woman homeowner and know nothing of irrigation. I have a large property and I was worried I would be taken advantage of because it is quite obvious I know nothing pertaining to irrigation. Jose thoroughly explained everything, in detail, to me. He gave me prices and time needed for several different options. He put up with my many phone calls and was a pleasure! He was always very quick to respond to any of my concerns. His bid came $2000 under the three other bids I received and he provided much more information than any other vendor. I saw him daily, he managed the job closely and completed 5 days earlier than he had anticipated. He was so knowledgeable about all types of irrigation including water conserving options. He followed up with me a week after he finished just to make sure everything was still going smoothly and if I had any questions. He was so genuine and professional. Not only would I recommend him, I actually call him to get referrals for other services I need.
