I originally spoke with Nathan Rahn, who had me send pictures of the black walnut table. He quoted me a price of approximately $800.00. I then discussed the rosewood table, which had problems due to differences in humidity between Hong Kong and SoCal, and the lacquer chest with water damage. Nathan came with his father, who is an expert. Mr. Rahn said he would have to use a new piece of rosewood for the top and also repair the joints. Based on the discussion of how he would repair my furniture, I also asked about a mirror I had bought online whose frame was black, and I wanted brown. Mr. Rahn suggested matching a shade of brown in the artwork surrounding the mirror. The frame was no detachable. The job took 2 or so weeks longer than originally quoted, but quality work, with drying time, can’t be rushed. When the furniture was delivered, I was thrilled. The black walnut table is a family heirloom that had been purchased for my grandmother upon the birth of my mother. It had had a hard life – many moves to various states. I had never used the rosewood table (covered it with a table cloth, not proudly displayed), but when it was returned to me in like-new condition, it was given a prominent place in my home. The work on the other 2 pieces was similarly excellent. In fact, I recommended Rahn’s to a friend who had several antique pieces in need of restoration. She, too, was impressed with Mr. Rahn’s knowledge and loves the work that was done.

I took a picture of the bookcase which used to sit on top of a double dresser. My husband had built it and I had stained it. I texted the picture for an estimate on total cost. It was going to be a lot more than the coupon offer to paint my bookcase white. it had been a 5 ft Wx4 ft H open pine book case. The shelves were not movable. I decided I could not afford to have them do it. I will paint it myself. I can't judge their workmanship because I did not have any done. I can't remember the exact dates. I would have to go back thru my records. This review request keeps popping up every time I go on Angies list so that is why I am completing it tonight.

Truly excellent work from a responsive and responsible craftsman. I had been looking for a shop that would repair a chair for me at a reasonable price for some time. ( Angie's List comes through again.) Nathan was very helpful over the phone and I dropped the chair off. Although I said, "No rush," the chair was ready in less than two weeks. The new parts that Rahn's fabricated blend well with the original parts and the cleaning and refinish job was very fine. I will be bringing the rest of the set in to be cleaned and renovated in the near future. You only have to look at Rahn's shop to conclude that this is a busy, quality operation and that their upholstery work is a excellent as their repair and refinishing work. I recommend them highly!

My table had been damaged from an alcohol spill...not drinking alcohol. Grant from Rahns Furniture Refinishing assured me he could make it look better than when it was new. They completely stripped the entire top and refinished it. He was right! The table top has a beautiful new finish even better than when we bought it new. The finish is a much higher quality than original. Grant told me it had a bar top finish and very durable, but the thing he recommended never putting on a table directly is a pizza box. He told me nothing ruins the finish more than a hot steaming greasy pizza box. | |I am more satisfied than I thought I would be. Rahns Furniture Refinishing is a top class organization and really know what they are doing. I recommend then unconditionally and would definitely use them again.

It was not cheap. They came out. They evaluated the quality of the furniture. They made some recommendations as far as some minor modifications to help prevent things from getting dinged up in the future and made an estimate before they got started. It started with the estimate.

I had inherited a cabinet that my mother's family had brought over from Ireland in the 19th century. Through the generations, it had declined in position, being relegated to my grandmother's cellar and to my parents' storage room, where it became the keeper of tools and paint. I happened upon its twin (almost the same color, a pale green) in the Bunratty Folk Park outside Limerick, Ireland, and took that discovery as validation that the old cabinet had crossed the pond with my great-great-grandmother when she moved her family from Limerick to New York City. I decided that when the cabinet was mine, I would get it restored. After my mother died and her house was sold, I called Rahn and had the cabinet picked up on the day I was moving my mother's furniture from the house to a storage unit. I told Rahn that I was in no rush to get the piece back because it was only going to sit in storage until I bought a house. I wanted the cabinet restored and painted the same bottle green as the legs of the kitchen set I'd inherited from my mother and gave them one of the chairs to use to match the color. I received the cabinet and chair back about six months later, which was fine with me. The cabinet was beautifully restored. The color was darker than I expected it would be, but when I put the chair next to it, it matched. The drawers, shelves and doors now all work perfectly. The cabinet's days in the cellar are definitely over. Next stop and quot;Antiques Roadshowand quot;?

When it was returned to us, the two pieces of furniture were in spectacular condition. Our 9' rosewood entertainment center was so carefully repaired you really cannot tell: they were able to save some lower wood facings on the base thus the rosewood look is consistent throughout the furniture. They reinforced the base so it is actually stronger than when we bought the piece new. They also repaired a Mission-style recliner and it, too, is in perfect condition. We were not in a hurry to get this furniture back into the home till all remodeling was complete and told them this. Consequently Rahn's had the furniture for some time, and we were very satisfied with the results.

They did it on time, the price was fair, and the work was excellent.

We delivered the bench and table to them and they took care of it and did a great job. It was done in a timely and professional manner.

OVERALL IT WAS GOOD. THEY HAD THE LOWEST PRICE. THEY'RE VERY FRIENDLY. THEY GOT IT DONE ON TIME WHEN THEY PROMISED THE PRICE THEY ESTIMATED. I TOOK IT TO THEIR SHOP. THEY WERE FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL. THE SHOP IN HIS OFFICE WASN'T REAL PROFESSIONAL.
