+ -1 moreService counter person was quick tell me it would cost 2 hours labor ($230) to receive an estimate. That includes 1 hour travel time to and from my home and 1 hour to diagnose the problem. This was before we had any discussion about how far I lived from the business (which is only 10 minutes) or the size/type of heater I had or problems with the unit. My overall feeling was that I was being dismissed and my business was not wanted. From the looks of their business the do large industrial type work. They look very professional. But don't seem to have time for smaller single residence type work. I will be looking for a smaller establishment who'll appreciate my business.

+ -1 moreFriday night. No heat from furnace. They were quite responsive and got me heat again, but the bill was $786.45 ($600.00 labor). I had to pay for the service person to drive to and from Aptos from Gilroy. Will not deal with them again because of the high labor charges. I hope they are not depending on $700+ service calls to sustain their business.

+ 2 moreDifferent people who work for Wilson have been to my home in the last 5 years and I'd say that except for maybe one or two in 2008 or 2007 were not as professional as would want.
Description of Work: I live in a condominium complex and when ever the water needs to be shut off to do any kind of plumbing the heat in my apt and I believe others as well, the heat stops coming in through the fans and something in the attic needs to be drained.

+ -1 moreThe work was done in one day to our complete satisfaction, and we were not required to contribute a cent. It might be said that the proper materials should have been used in the initial installation, but the fact that the company reinstalled the line using the correct materials without hesitation after 10 years to correct their mistake meant a lot to us, and is the basis for our current rating for this company. The company representative and the person who did the work were both very courteous and professional.
Description of Work: While having a new water line installed by another contractor, we noticed that an underground gas line in the same area that had been installed by George H. Wilson, Inc. ten years ago was obviously rusting badly. It was pointed out to us by our water line contractor that the rusting gas line should have been installed using different rust-proof materials specifically meant for underground use. I visited the George H. Wilson company office and requested that the line be reinstalled by them using the proper materials. I was told that it would be investigated, and I would be notified of the findings. A couple of days later I received a phone call from a representative of George H. Wilson, Inc. who told me I was right, and that they would send out a work crew to reinstall the line. Within a week, a crew (of one) showed up, replaced the line with the correct type of plastic pipe and fittings in a very professional manner, and we were never charged anything for this correction.

Description of Work: We had a very simple kitchen faucet changed. We provided the new faucet. The new faucet had an extra outlet that we didn't intend to install, and the guy had no idea that this was feasible, while it clearly said so in the instructions. I had to come over to my house from work to show that to him. Then it took him 2 and a half hours for this simple installation, which costed almost $300 at the crazy hourly rates Geo.Wilson charges

+ -1 moreI had uncovered all but a foot or two of the original pipe, so this was not a challenging job (except that it did rain at times). The work took about a week to complete and cost us $600, which they had promised not to exceed. The George Wilson crew were lacking in equipment, supplies, communication and common sense. They installed a faucet at the house ( about 8 feet from an existing faucet) so the system could be purged, yet somehow they managed to include a tablespoon of dirt in the system which clogged the toilet tank valve and the supply line to it. (They offered to repair our toilet at extra cost.) Their installation did not meet code: the pipe was set too close to the surface, so they had to replace the faucet with a pressure regulator. About three months later, the system sprung a major leak and two minor ones due to Teflon tape having been applied incorrectly.
Description of Work: We hired George Wilson Plumbing to replace 20 feet of service pipe that runs straight from the water meter to our house.

Description of Work: They replaced a hot air furnace. The older hot water tank had failed so installation was in the basement. I was in Ireland at the time and it flooded the basement and ruined the the furnace.
