I knew Bill from a previous job at my property. For my jobs, I do not have a need for deadlines, so I am able to accept his work when he can get it done, however, once he starts the work, he completes the job within a couple of days. I am very very happy with Bill's work.
Description of Work: I needed a new fence between myself and a close neighbor. We did not have a previously existing fence in this area. Bill Herd had built a fence in my back yard several years before, I was very happy with his work, so I called him again. We discussed the style of fence and the technique. He listened to my ideas and made some suggestions. I was happy to consider his suggestions, as since he is an experience fence builder. The fence was about 30 feet long, overlapping boards, with a lattice top, about 30 feet long. It was six feet tall, with a 1.5 foot lattice in the rear section and 5 foot in the front, with a 1 foot lattice. He used quality material, pressure treated posts. The fence needed to be stepped down slightly for a mild slope, as well as a different height at the front portion of the fence. I requested an non-standard lattice. Bill ordered it and custom fit it to the fence. He also moved an eight foot gate from the back of the house to the front of the fence and mounted it. He had to make modifications to the gate, and did an excellent job. Bill executed the fence exactly as I envisioned it, and improved it with his expertese. He did so in a timely manner, though he was busy at the time, his completion date was within the parameters we described.

I called Arrow Fence for a job estimate. Bill Herd (business owner) came out to my house within a couple of days to scope the project. He contacted me a few days later, claiming that prefabricated 3-rail (3-hole) posts weren't available anywhere in Santa Cruz County. I told him that I really wanted the fence to be at least 4-ft. high, and a 2-rail split rail fence would only be 3-ft. high. I asked him to "keep trying". A week later, I received a written job quote in the mail .. with a note saying he had located a 3-rail post supplier in the next county (San Jose area). I called Bill to give the go-ahead. He came to the house later that day to pick up the signed proposal and to mark the exact placement of the new fence. (No initial payment required!) His installers delivered the posts & rails 2 days later, and they began construction the day after that. The fence was completed in 2-1/2 days. Bill returned for a final inspection, with me, and I paid for the work at that time. The whole project was easy and fast! The fence looks great!
Description of Work: Arrow Fence obtained materials and constructed 170-ft. of triple-rail split-rail cedar wood fencing along one side of my property. (This property line borders a State forest.) They also put in a 25-ft. single-rail split rail border fence around a flower garden area. All posts were secured in concrete.
