 + 0 moreI really can't say enough about Allterra. What a great company. Everything went exactly as they had told me that it would. There were no glitches. Everyone on the and quot;teamand quot;, from the salesman to the Field Operations guy performed their jobs in an exemplary fashion. We really liked Ed and Rueben, the installers. They showed up exactly when they said they would, worked hard, cleaned up after themselves each day and were extremely pleasant, friendly and informative. They answered all my questions. Before they left on Tuesday, they turned the system on and made sure everything was working. The panels were already generating electricity in abundance of what I was using. What a great feeling to see that excess actually going back to the grid. Also, Ed showed me how the system works...how to shut it down and restart it (not that I should ever need to do that). I would highly recommend this company and I would also advise everyone to go solar! My new panels will pay for themselves in about eight years. Then...free electricity. Whoo hoo!!! It really is a and quot;no-brainerand quot;. I'm not sure why everyone doesn't do it or why I waited so long. Also, Allterra is based in Santa Cruz, and I wanted to go local if I could. It all worked out better than I could have hoped for.
Description of Work: I had Allterra Solar and five other companies give me a quote to install solar panels on my roof. The salesman Andrew Lezin for Allterra was the first one to come out. His company had already made some preliminary calculations based on my PG&E usage for the last year and a look at my roof through Google Earth. I had to wait two more weeks for the other four companies to give me their proposals. Actually, three companies (Cobalt Power, Solar Technologies and The Solar Company) never did give me a proposal for what I asked for. The only other company that did was Suns Up Solar in Santa Cruz. They were also very responsive and offered me the same product (Sun Power panels) at pretty much the same cost. I would recommend either one of these companies. I chose Allterra because they came out first to give me an estimate, and because their salesman Andrew followed up with me and invited us to come and check out his office and he also drove us around Santa Cruz showing us some of the projects they had done and what the panels looked like installed. We also met some of his workmates at their office. We just got a good feel from them. Next we had to wait for the panels to be manufactued by SunPower...about 6 weeks. When the project manager, Charles Wolfe, called to say that the panels had arrived at their facility, we set up a date (Mar. 25) to install. The crew, Ed Riolino and Rueben, showed up promptly at 9:00 as promised. They installed 18 panels on my roof, an inverter next to my main electric panel and a 220 volt receptacle in my garage for a kiln I want to set up. They were done in two days. The Field Operations guy, Matt Knobbe, came out (I believe on Friday following the insallation) to meet the city inspector. I am now waiting for PG&E to come out and swap out my electric meter with one that accepts excessive electricity generated by the panels and sends it back to the "grid".
