We had a great experience working with Valley Home Builders. They did a high-quality job and finished on schedule. At every stage of the project, I was well informed. They were easy to reach and responsive. I would strongly recommend them for all large remodeling projects. We found Valley Home Builders on Angie's list along with a few other contractors. Mehdi asked for the building plans before he came over to talk to us. When we first met him, he was well prepared. He had studied the plans and made notes. He explained the process they followed and took us on a tour of some of his projects. We were impressed and thought "We would love to work with them, but they are probably too expensive". When the bid came from Valley Home Builders we were pleasantly surprised. Their bid was right in the middle of the pack of the other bids we received. It was also extremely detailed. We were able to understand where we were spending money. We went back and forth on changes to the project and came up with a cost that was acceptable to us. Arash was the project manager assigned to our project. We were very happy working with Arash - he was always available, responsive and very well organized. I don't think I ever saw him without his iPad. Between email, the phone and the CRM they use, we were always able to contact Arash. We had a weekly meeting with him to talk about what was achieved last week, what was planned for the week ahead and any blockers. Valley Home Builders uses a CRM to manage the project. The CRM has a calender, information about change orders, costs and a way to communicate with the project manager. It's a good way for me to track the project, get details on change orders, know the deadlines to buy things, etc. To top it all off, we finished the project ahead of schedule. The original estimate was for 4-5 months, but it took a hunderd days to add a second story to my house. This was in spite of 20+ change orders we asked for. Overall, we were pleased with the way the remodel went. We loved working with Arash and Valley Home Builders and would recommend their work to our friends and family.

It was nothing against them, we just didn't end up going with them. They had a very detailed quote. They were very prompt in replying and they were patient with us. It was generally good all around. We found someone who was a little lower priced. I was sorry we didn't go with them.

They seemed good but we didn't use them. They gave us a really good estimate and the guy was really personable and spent a lot of time with us. The price was a little high for us. We went with a company that was in the middle range. They were really good and we liked them a lot so we kind of debated. They seemed great. They came out a couple of times. They were thorough. We would definitely consider them in the future.

Fabulous. I interviewed three contractors but as soon as I talked to Mark Dalton from VHB, I knew that was the way I was going to go. His bid was competitive, but more importantly, he wasn't trying to expand my job to be more than I was comfortable with, as one of the contractors did, and he said something I really respected as he left from the first interview: "Whoever you pick, don't let anyone do any work inside your house without a permit." When we realized that my electrical panel would have to be upgraded - an unplanned extra expense, I really think it bothered him more than it did me. We also found dry rot in the floor when the shower stall was installed and he was scrupulous about presenting the time and materials records for the additional cost, something I wasn't expecting but learned is the way Mark does things. He was always at the house when he said he would be, he followed up on the subcontractors to make sure they performed on time and with quality work. He always remembered comments I made and made sure to follow up. He was just exceptional and I will use him whenever I have work on the home in the future.

Valley Home Builders (VHB) was a subcontractor to our general contractor. VHB dealt with us regarding scheduling and was conscientious in addressing our needs and concerns. We lived in our home during the remodeling process, and VHB ensured that our home was secure. Prior to floor installation, VHB ensured that all wood debris was cleared from the crawl space under the house. Mehdi Vatani was on-site through the entire project; he was meticulous in supervising his workers and was extremely pleasant to deal with. We would recommend Mehdi Vatani and Valley Home Builders without reservation.

The project started in September 2005 and finished in April 2006. That is the only area where I rated Valley Home Builders anything other than an A - punctuality and responsiveness, which I gave them a B in both. Although the head of VHB, Mehdi Vatani, was always responsive to me, his subs at the time were not as responsive and because of that, there were sometimes month-long delays in the project which led to such a long completion time. Also I should note that our job was the inaugural job for VHB, and they did not have a full crew at that time, so taking that into account, I'd say they got the job done as fast as they reasonably could. VHB did a wonderful job. The crew and subs were friendly, courteous, and professional - left the job site clean every day and some even left remaining materials for us to save for future use. In the end, I was incredibly pleased with the workmanship. We get tons of compliments on our kitchen, thanks to VHB and their crew.

We were quite satisfied with them. I liked that they did the work as they promised. They cleaned up well after themselves and were better than I expected. I have recommended them to other people already. Their price was very reasonable. Their quality of work was very nice. They came when they said they would and were done when they said they would.

My wife sent a detailed email requesting an estimate for work on our house but no one bothered to respond. We ran into one of their reps @ a recent home show and she was very apologetic and contacted my wife the next day. Turns out our project was too small for them, but they recommended a handyman.

We contacted 3 companies. His estimate came in lowest by $10K. He started on time; delays caused by unexpected difficulties in plumbing and duct replacement, and for replacement parts for previously installed fan that we wanted moved. Mehdi was responsive to calls and made frequent visits to the premises. Always polite and professional. Made good on all mistakes/misunderstandings.

I preferred the other company, which is who I decided to go with. They were priced competitively. They came and gave me an estimae. I considered it then decided to go with a different company. They were very pleasant people. I did have some issues with their responsiveness at times, but they were always punctual. It wasn't a bad interaction, they just didn't stand out from my several other bids. They didn't impress me.

Overall we were extremely pleased with Mehdi's work. What impressed us most about Mehdi is he willingness to listen to us and understand what about our project was most important to us. We were very concerned with the budget and wanted to do some of the work ourselves. When we spoke to other contractors, most of them didn't understand that we were looking for a basic/functional space. Unlike the other contractors, Mehdi understood this and worked with us to figure out how minimize our costs and was very accommodating when we wanted to do something ourselves. Mehdi's quote was one of the most competitive that we received, and was one of the most detailed as well. This was probably why change orders during the project were extremely rare and resulted more for our decisions to add options then from anything else. The work proceeded smoothly and Mehdi worked quickly to get our roof up before the rain came in December, working 7 days a week to make sure the addition would stay dry. He scheduled the subcontractor and inspections like clock work and there was rarely a day when we didn't see progress being made on the addition. Finally and most importantly, Mehdi was very easy to communicate with, always answering his cell phone. We can be very overbearing sometimes and ask a lot of questions, Mehdi was always willing to listen to our concerns and explain the answers. We are now living in our new room and can't believe how much of a difference it has made. Without Mehdi we are not sure that we would have been able to afford -- much less survive -- the remodel. We would definitely recommend him. The only reason we gave him a B instead of an A for quality was that we did have a few cracks in the stucco a few weeks after the project was complete, although I think this may have been our fault for not painting it sooner. In any case as soon as we told Medhi he had his stucco guy at our house to patch the cracks.

We didn't actually use them. The estimate process with Mvatani was very positive. We almost hired him. We liked him and liked the way he gave a detailed itemized quote, which made us think about hiring him. Some guys will tell you things and just have one page with a big number at the bottom and you don't know what it is for.

They were very responsive to our initial call and they came right out to give us an estimate. They were very flexible in working around our schedule with another contractor who was also doing work. They showed up when they said they would and got the work done on time. We were very pleased with them.

I called this company for a quote on a living room remodel. While they were very responsive to the initial call, I waited for well over 3 weeks, and had to call them to follow up 3 times, before I ever got an estimate. At one point, he committed to getting me the quote over the weekend and just never showed up or even called. After the 3rd phone call, we made arrangements to meet at 7:30 PM to review the quote and I came home at 6:45 to find the quote taped to my front door -- Sigh. He used regular scotch tape on my beautiful new front door. On top of all that, the quote was WRONG. He had prices for services we never discussed. I believe that if I have to work that hard to get them to show up when they're still vying for my business, I can only imagine what I'd have to do after I've paid them money!

The relationship with Mehdi worked very well. As with all construction projects of this size, we hit problems that had not been planned. We worked together well to resolve the problems that arose and the site manager Robert was very willing to get things done.

It was overall a very good experience for everything we had done to the house. They explained what was being done and why certain things needed to be done. They solved many problems and took preventative measures to avoid future ones. They found termites and got rid of them at no charge. The whole project took about seven months to complete.
