They did a great job, as advertised on time, on budget etc. The installer was professional, but not terribly friendly. It seemed like he was a good guy having a bad day though. We plan to have them installing more in the future.

Sunlight Concepts was very professional and responsive. On the day of the service, the installer called about 1 hour prior to the scheduled appointment time asking if I would like him to come earlier, as he had finished a prior job early. This was perfect timing for me! He was very professional, and courteous and finished the job in 1.5 hours!! love the solatube! my 50 year old house had a dark area in the kitchen/dining room and this has made a wonderful and bright difference. Highly recommended! Of note: I had gotten a quote from a different company prior to Sunlight Concepts, and that qoute was almost $200 higher!!

I think it was a good interaction. I may use them in the future actually in a different space than the one that they gave bids on. I think for the space that I wanted; I wanted a different kind of light. I am probably going to go with them for more traditional skylight in the ones they said; really that’s most important to me. They came out very quickly, in fact more quickly. I was actually just trying to get a little bit of a hand on that type of light, I did not know much about it. Therefore, it happened very quickly and I was not prepared to move on it, I was more in the research stage so they were a little ahead of me in terms of me being ready to act. It was quite good. They were right on time. I would use them in the future if I need to or get a quote from them.

Overall it was a very negative experience. I was told by the contractor I would have to disconnect half of my whole house fan ducting for them to install the sola tube. I also wanted a skylight installed in my bathroom, and he wasn't very clear on how they could do it economically. They couldn't really give me a firm estimate. They just didn't seem very competent in their customer service or estimating. I ended up going with another competing product and got what I needed without any problem.

I like the end result. I have a lot of light in my house now, they did it quickly within a few hours, and they were neat. I give them high ratings and would use them again if needed. I didn't compare prices.

They did a good job. I rate them high overall. I am thinking of calling them again to put another skylight.

Overall, everything was excellent. They did a fine job and I'd use them again in the future if I needed to.

Sunlight Concepts installed two 10-inch Sola Tube light tunnels and Solar Star attic fan at the time we did a complete re-roofing. Although we contracted with them separately from the roofers, they coordinated work directly with the roofers. Mike came to install the devices the morning of the 2nd day of re-roofing, after the old roof had been removed and new plywood put down, but before shingles were on. I had understood that installation could take up to 2 hours per device, so was expecting a 4-6 hour job. Mike finished it all up in just 1.5 hours. Clean-up was fine, not even much dust left. The light tunnels themselves are impressive. We installed them each in a segment of an "L"-shaped interior hallway that gets very little light, except what comes in from adjacent rooms. The hall is relatively dim even during the day. With the light tunnels installed, the hallways are quite bright during the day, even brighter than some of the rooms with exterior windows. We are constantly fooled into thinking the lights are actually on!

They did a wonderful job. They had built it in a much better quality tube and did a clean job. They took about 2 hours to complete the job. I was invited to their office to see the options, to help me choose better. They seemed very professional and I will use them in the future, too.

Our experience with Sunlight Concepts was very positive. We visited the showroom and were impressed with the products they were supplying. In addition to demonstrating all the options in detail, the staff took the time to discuss the installation process and assist us with arrangements for an electrician to rewire switches, etc. We selected two 10" Solatubes with vent units for our bathrooms, one 14" Solatube for our kitchen and one solar attic fan. Pricing was fair and discounts and rebates really helped sell us. When we needed to reschedule our installation appointment, the staff worked with us and were flexible. The installer was ontime, professional and personable, taking care to discuss fixture positioning, issues/work arounds, and planned activities before beginning. He was efficient and the process took about 6 hours overall. The areas worked in were left clean and neat. We are very pleased with the work that was done in our home. The resulting changes the Solatubes made in rooms that were previously dark is unbelievable. You can't imagine that such a small addition could make such a large change in your living environment, but it does. I only wish I had done this sooner and would definitely provided references for and use Sunlight Concepts again.

It went very well. Jim understood the situation and made the repairs expertly and efficiently. I was very impressed with his skill and ability.

After contacting the contractor they sent a representative out the next day to evaluate the damage. He gave me a detailed breakdown on what they would be doing. After obtaining my approval they went back to the shop to fabricate a new unit which took a few days. The installer then removed the old unit and installed the new skylight in very short order. The unit looks beautiful and has not leaked in the last series of storms we have had.

If you think you like to have solar tubes, after going to their shown room, you will KNOW you want solar tubes and these are the people you want to handle the project. Everyone was very pleasant, professional and knew their product. I met them several years ago but could not get the tubes until this year. They neven made me feel like I was wasting their time. I had a dimmer installed in the living room and chose to use their electrician. The company arranged everything including obtaining permits, arranging the schedule with the installed and electrician and the final inspections. I am a perfectionist so it is not often I say everything was beyond expections but the work of the installer and electrician was beyond expections. They were perfessional, nice, very clean work environment and their work was awesome. Everything was perfect. One of the tubes barely fit with only a fraction of an inch to spare. The installer had to be perfect in making the whole - he was. I love them, love them, love them. Even the inspector was impressed. Wish I could get more. If I did, I would definitely have this company handle everything.

Jim was highly professional and extremely patient as we slowly decided on the various diffuser and light filtering options. In our master walk-in closet, he was able to wire the existing light into the solatube in a very tight space (i.e. only ~6inches). His work was beyond our expectations in terms of cleanliness, using one hand to hold a shop vac while cutting drywall with the other and vacuuming dust as it left the saw. There was virtually no clean up left for us to do when he left. This was espeically appreciated since one of the tubes was installed in our kitchen and no dust was evident on our counters or stove.

The installer was very efficient and completed the job as scheduled, working with the roofer to install before the roof was finished. We are extremely pleased with this product. I especially like that you can install electric dimmers to reduce the light coming in, allowing me to install them in two bedrooms and still be able to sleep past sunrise. In one of our bathrooms, we keep having guests hunt for the light switch to turn off the "light" when they leave the room. In my office, I don't need any artificial light until late dusk. I prefer this product to skylights because you don't have to clean inside the tunnel (sealed) and you don't see debris/spiderwebs when you look up. I'll definitely install this product if I buy another house where we want to add more natural light.

They showed up when that said they would, they did what they said they would do and charged what they said they would charge. What more can you ask of a contractor?

We went there on a Saturday and though they would be closing at 2 PM they stayed open for us so we could purchase the solatubes and fan converter. They are all friendly and provide great information!

The owner came out for estimate and he and another person did the installation. Highly professional, responsive (answered my many questions) and offered the best price. Highly satisfied and would call again. Love having an operable skylight and I no longer have a draft under the skylight.

I was very impressed with Sunlight Concepts. Their prices were very reasonable and the work done was excellent. My original skylight was leaking, and Sunlight Concepts replaced it and resealed another. The work done was very high quality, the two guys were very professional, and I am very happy with the results. I would have used them again for my Solar tube, but at the time they did not carry the brand I wanted (Solatube), although they do now.

Jim McDonald responded to my email promptly and scheduled a convenient time to give me an estimate. I told him that I would be getting a few estimates, so he gave me his best price, which was very competitive. Though he said he could not also apply an Angie's List coupon. I like his professionalism and he patiently discussed my options and answered all questions. He worked with the roofer to coordinate his work. He didn't complain about removing his shoes when he did work indoors. I wish working with all contractors was so easy! We had a heavy leak in the first rain because the caulking he used on the flashings came loose. If I knew that would happen I would have replaced the flashings, but neither he nor the roofer recommended it at the time. I called him and he came out two days later to evaluate it and replaced the caulking with supposedly better stuff. We'll see with the next rains.

Great - Appointment was scheduled within 3 days of phone call. Jim called to say he was in traffic prior to his scheduled arrival time and arrived within 10 minutes of when promised. Job was done within the time promised. We had a very pleasant experience working with Sunlight Concepts.

I decided to go with the Solatube and with Sunlight Concepts after seeing the the product in their showroom and talking with them about coordinating the installation with my re-roofing. They worked with the roofing company and rearranged their schedule to work with the roofing schedule. They arrived on time and finished within 2 hours. The lighting from the Solatube is great. The final cost was higher because I needed an extra foot of tubing for the installation.

They were professional and efficient. Our 55 year old house had some oddities in the roof, which they examined and determined that skylight installation wouldn't be a problem. They were in and out in about 4 hours with two guys, and the installation thus far has been excellent. It has not rained yet so I don't know about leaks, but they guarantee against leaks so I am comfortable knowing that they'd come back and fix it if it did leak. They also patched the hole in the ceiling where the old kitchen ceiling fan was. The solatubes really have made a difference!

Member Comments: I contacted them about replacing a malfunctioning gable fan with a solar model. An appointment was made at the office and confirmed by phone prior to the site visit. Everything went smoothly and professionally, from initial consultation, installation, and follow-up. A suggestion was made that replacing an existing turbine vent with a solar fan would offer better overall ventilation. The entire staff was always friendly and helpful. Overall, a job well done.

Jim McDonald, the owner, came and discussed our options with us. He came out the week we called. He was great to work with. We decided on one new skylight with dual pane low-e glass, which will be much more efficient for this room. He also agreed to and did check for leakage up there. It took about six weeks before he came back to install the new skylight. But they were very nice and made sure I was OK with everything. The work went well. They did it all in one day and again made sure I was happy, the place was cleaned up and all was well.
