Sousa's Garage Doors

My garage door spring broke and I was unable to open the door. Sousa's sent a technician within a few hours. The work was excellent and reasonable. I highly recommend this business. I'll certainly use them again.

We had to call them back because the garage door (when we opened it) made a cracking sound. They came out and fixed it but I still a loud cracking sound once in a while. We will have to call them out again, I think they could have done a better job installing it the first time.

I have used Souza's in the past and they have been excellent, and I have been a very good repeat customer. Something has changed. Despite numerous calls, they did not provide and estimate and the estimator did not even call me back. I went from being a huge proponent to being upset that they wasted my time. I told them that they would be sole sourced for the job and now I am behind schedule as I kept waiting for their estimate....

The performed the service without us being present. The work was done quickly and professionally.

A lady from Sousa's called to provide a quote and her listening skills were very poor. Tried to tell her that I needed a garage door and opener and tried to get a price on the whole thing. She gave me a quote on a door only and then I had to tell her again that I wanted the door and opener. Then she starts arguing with me. REALLY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I just told her I would go somewhere else. If I have this much trouble getting a simple quote, I can only imagine the problems I would have with the installers and future customer service. Which brings me to my second point, I was going to have to have someone look at the garage, either by me sending in photos or someone coming out to see it. A few quirks that might require me to do some things prior to the installation, but at least I would be able to know what they were and have them done prior to the installation.

The technician arrived on time. Did the work for over an hour, very informative and helpful. The price is also the best among other bidders. He did an excellent job. The garage door is now working fine.

Sousa's service was prompt (within 2 days of my call) and phone confirmations of my appointment were timely. Nelson was able to schedule a visit on a Saturday earlier than planned to fix my garage door, which would not open. He replaced two springs and suggested installation of safety clips to keep the springs from shooting through the ceiling if they broke. After the springs were installed, he discovered that one side of the door was not latching on the inside when closed. He installed a new side bracket and adjusted the door until both sides locked when closed. He also loosened an external latch that had been painted over, and found a rope in his truck that he knotted and tied to a hook on the inside of the door to make it easier to close. He was courteous, professional, and seemed genuinely interested in resolving every usage and safety issue with the door. He also instructed me in how to pull it closed properly. Given the fact that the door is original and is now 60 years old, it's amazing that there are technicians as skilled as Nelson who can restore a garage door to working condition so efficiently.

It went fine. Their price wasn't the top price but I thought that they would give me the best service.

They were our third bid, so we had an idea what we wanted. It was straight forward with no gimmicks (i.e. the second remote was included, not thrown in as enticement, etc.) When he came in slightly under, we signed immediately. Within a few days they were out installing. The installer had nothing but good things to say about the company, always a good sign. Without Angieslist we would have never found this company. We are very satisfied.

Overall experience was awesome. Made an appointment two days early. Due to some system or manual error, the technician did not show up on time. I called them, the owner realized the error, but they quickly resolved the issue and took care of it. Technician replaced the broken spring and adjusted the entire garage door. In fact, he fixed couple of issues the original door installer did not do right when we installed the door 18 backs back. Had a very good experience overall - highly recommended.

When the repairman showed up on time, he looked at our door and said and quot;I don't think I have the right size door.and quot; He did this just by eyeballing the door. After a few measurements were made, it was true, the door he had was not the correct size. Luckily, he noticed this before doing any kind of work, i.e., he noticed this before removing the old door. While not an ideal situation, Sousa had a new door delivered and installed within 3 days. The new install happened in record time and the repairman went above and beyond when installing. We highly recommend Sousa's Garage Doors. We also felt that the price was excellent ... we had expected this to cost a lot more!

Cables unspooled and the door was stuck open on Saturday morning holding us hostage. Called Souza's and within 30 minutes Joe Souza showed up. He was able to quickly re-spool the cabling and set it with the right tension. He also fixed the squeaking noise and without asking also tuned the trim settings on my opener. Now my garage door purrs like a kitten and I couldn't be happier! All in all, this was a fantastic experience. Prompt, professional, knowledgeable and the service was out of this world. The cost was also much lower as I had expected to pay 3x-4x what they charged me.

Garage spring broke, and we gave them a call in the morning, arrived in 20 min, fixed in an hour. Also oiled and tuned the door a bit in addition to fixing the problem. This is the second time we've used them and they are great!

I called several locations early Monday morning. While they all tried schedule for Monday, none of them could arrange it. Sousa's said they could have someone at my place very early Tuesday morning. All the others were not available until later in the day, or the following day. Sousa's also had several very good reviews, and was pricing much more competitively. Nelson showed up early in the morning. He immediately saw the problem, estimated the the spring had broken. He opened the door which allowed me to move the car out, then proceeded to replace the spring. He also found other issues with the original installation framing and fixed one issue completely, and the other issues fixed as best as possible. I got a good education on the door, service for all materials in the system and frame, and had my door again in short time. Nelson was very helpful, quick, professional. He did not just replace the spring and leave but took the time to service everything and provide good care instructions. This was all done for the same competitive basic price.

They arrived on time and completed the work. It took a bit longer than I would have guessed because they one had one person completing the work.

Joe was able to come out within a couple of days and fixed the garage door within an hour of being on-site. The price was reasonable and he did a little extra upkeep on the door opener to make sure everything was working great. He also suggested some potential upgrades at some point in the future. Very happy.

Overall. it was an excellent experience. I recommend them highly!!

When the torsion spring on my garage door broke, Sousa's was able to schedule an appointment for the next day to replace it. Joe came out to do the work. He was on time and the work was done quickly and professionally. As he replaced the spring, he took the time to explain the process so I could learn how to do it. He also gave my garage door a general inspection free of charge and explained how to do basic yearly maintenance. The job took well under an hour and Sousa's estimate was lower than 1 other I received from a different Angie's List highly rated company.

This was a good and painless experience. I will use this company again.

The estimator did an excellent job of explaining what needed to be done and why. We had another estimate from a highly recommended company but Sousa's did a better job of helping us learn about the different types of garage doors and what might work best for our home. We needed the garage door replaced immediately and the estimator made sure that happened for us. We felt they were very professional, listened to our needs, and we are very satisfied with the installation and with the quality of the door. We believe we got very good value for our money.
