Sousa's Garage Doors

We had several estimates for our garage door spring replacement and Sousaand quot;s Gargage Door offered the best price. Joe Sousa arrived at exactly the appointed time. He was extremely pleasant and helpful. The job was completed quickly and efficiently .We are very happy with Sousa's Garage Door service and will certainly choose them if we need such service again.

After requesting an estimate, and making an appointment, the estimator (Joe) showed up on time, though his approach left a bit to be desired. I found him to be cocky, and sort of a and quot;know-it-alland quot; but since I consider those to be personality traits rather than an indication of what kind of a job the company might do, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt in the ratings I assigned. During our meeting, I was put off by the way Joe undermined a competitor, though because I'm not sure he realized that's what he was doing, I also tried not to incorporate that into my ratings. However, the deal breaker was his flat-out refusal to provide itemized pricing after a proposal of roughly 20% more than the best comparable bid I'd received. Specifically, his response was and quot;I'm sorry, but this is how we price our doors.and quot; And incidentally, I requested the itemization not only for the sake of being able to make a line-by-line comparison with other bids, but also because of a comment Joe made during our meeting. When I objected to the price quoted for the installation of an opener I'd seen at Costco, he agreed to do it for less, and shrugging his shoulders, gave me a cheesy smile and said he'd and quot;make it upand quot; in the price of the door. Judging from the company's responses to other less-than-straight-A reviews, I suspect Joe or another company rep may look for some way to blame me for the outcome. In anticipation of that kind of a response, I have two pieces of advice for other members: 1) Click on View all Reports by this Member, and take a look at the other reviews I've provided. I think it will be evident that I give as much weight to honesty, integrity, and professional behavior as I do to the quality of the work performed; and 2) SHOP AROUND before making a decision. Based on my experience, I don't think it will be hard to beat Sousa's prices.

As I said before, very cut and dry, I was looking for 3-4 estimates, they gave me a very good price. A very pleasant experience. I was just looking for something a little bit different at the basic garage door level. G.I.

They were a very good company. They were very upfront about whatever charges I was going to incur including haul away charges and so forth. They gave me a complete picture, and the quote was free. However, I got a competitive quote from another bigger company. I would consider using them again in the future.

Timely and professional. New door works great, much better insulated, and operation is much quieter than before. I shopped around, and based on other bids I received, Sousa bid was extremely fair for a well manufactured garage door that included high grade insulation and hardware. Was also pleasantly surprised that we now have the option of opening the garage door with a wireless box mounted outside that accepts a code. Great for a quick bike ride, since we now no longer need to bring house keys or a garage door opener to access that garage upon return.

I found Sousa's on Angie's list. I called them and they scheduled to come out for an estimate in a few days. They gave me an hour-long time window for arrival, and showed up on time. The estimator spent time examining and measuring my old door and discussing options with me. He gave me an estimate and I decided to go ahead with the work. The whole estimate process took about half an hour. Because my garage opening was wider than usual, a custom door needed to be ordered. I was given a time frame of 3-4 weeks for the new door to be ready to install. Two or three days short of 4 weeks later, Sousa's called to tell me that the door was ready, and they scheduled a day for installation in the following week. Again, they gave me a one-hour time window for arrival and they arrived on time. They took down the old doors, did some framing work around the opening of the garage, put up the doors and tracks, installed the opening/closer and installed the wiring, including the electric-eye safety device, all in about 2 hours. At the end of that time, they loaded the old door and hardware on their truck and took it away. All in all, the job could not have gone more smoothly. The estimator and the workers were friendly, efficient and professional. The price was very reasonable, and the new door looks and works great!

I think the son came and took all the measurements. My wife had a ton of questions and she followed up with an email with even more detailed questions. They responded very efficiently within about a day of our email. My wife had more questions when we got their email. They called back and went through it. They were very patient. We have also placed the order with them. They were very courteous. I would highly recommend them. We had a couple of neighbors who had doors and Sousa's price was well low below their prices. The door opener is a top of the line model. We are very pleased with the price.

About six months ago our garage door was having some problems going up and down and it was making a lot of noise. The rollers were replaced and we were told the door was warped and would probably need replacing soon. As soon as we noticed the crack in the garage door last week we called Sousa's. They came out to a**** the problem and tell us what garage door options we had. We made an appointment for the following week. Albert came to install our door. He was friendly and very professional. Before he left he made sure that all the hardware had been picked up and the place was clean. I would definitely recommend them to my friends.

I was very pleased with the service I got from start to finish. The office staff was knowledgeable, the estimator was pleasant and did not pressure a sale, and the installer was prompt, efficient, answered all my questions, and left the work area clean when done. Professional, quick and clean. A job well done. I called up asking about a garage door replacement. I got a price over the phone and we made an appointment for an estimator to come out, take measurements and give us a written quote. When he came out, the cost went up a little bit because we needed low profile rails so that the new roll up door could clear the low ceiling. For the installation, I was given a one hour window where the technician would show up. He arrived about 15 mins into the window, and took about 3 hours from start to finish. He got to work right away and worked diligently the entire time. He removed the solid core door, cleaned up, the installed new rails and the new roll up door, and then cleaned up some more. I think my garage is cleaner than when he started. He ran the wire from the garage door opener to the new button pad by the access door, installed the remote keypad and showed me how to program it when he was done with everything. The new door is great. And the opener is so quiet. The weather has been windy and rainy lately but I haven't heard any rattles from the new door yet.

Repairman Nelson first explained how he was going to fix the problem. He was efficient and competent and went well beyond what I expected. He also performed extra maintenance on the doors and adjusted the garage door so that it was well balanced. I am very satisfied with this company as well as Nelson, the repairman, and will call them back for yearly maintenance on my garage doors.

They were very, very good and professional. We were very happy with them. We got an estimate and then they came a week later. I was actually busy with the kids when they came. They came and knew what they were going to do and they installed it. They showed us how to use it and what the warranty was. It was very quick. The price was fantastic and they were really nice. We would definitely use them in the future.

Getting a quote was easy, it took about 15 minutes once the estimator arrived on-site. Got about $110 in mail-in rebates. Delivery and installation was on schedule about a week later. Installer showed up early and completed the work within 2.5 hours as promised. I am very pleased with the new door/opener and the installer's workmanship.

They were punctual, and professional I would hv had them fix the door; however I was not willing to pay $320/- during this bad economy to replace the entire garage door mechanism. I went instead w/ another competing company listed here on Angie's who simply replaced the faulty part for MUCH cheaper!

Arrived on time, and installation was professional and thorough. I decided to get the 2/3 HP elite series because I like the added HP (life time motor warranty vs 5 year), and the LCD control panel in the garage for time and temperature. Installation went smoothly and took about an hour. He explained and showed me the various features of the unit, such as locking out the remote, motion sensor, etc. The clean up was also pretty good. It's been a few days and the new opener works well. If I have to nitpick, I'd say the only thing I have adjusted afterward is the vertical alignment of the control panel (it was slightly off, trivial to adjust). The control wire was installed professionally and out of sight (the previous one was running across the garage on top of the furnace, looks ugly), but feels pretty tight, when I was adjusting the panel to be more vertical, the wire became even tighter. I feel the control wires should be running a bit more lose, or have some extra wires in the top to allow for servicing or adjustments in the future. Overall, a highly enjoyable experience, and recommended.

I was honestly shocked at how inexpensive it was. Another quote came in at twice the price. Nelson showed up and installed a very quiet motor, gave me two clickers and installed a keypad in front of the garage and a button inside. I am thrilled; I don't understand why anyone still has a manual garage door!

My garage door was stuck. I called Sousa's Garage door and they promptly came out for service next day. Nothing much was wrong, the door and railing needed some lubrication. The service person even showed me how to oil up the door and rails so I do not have to call them up again.

Not terrible, but not good. When I called and fully described what I wanted, he said it would be easier for me to take pictures and send it to them so they could see the type of door I had. And, I said, "What you really mean is that it would be easier for you, not me?". He then hesitated and finally said, "Do you want us to come out to give you and estimate". I replied, yes, that is why I'm calling. So,we set up an appointment, but I already had a bad feeling. When the guy arrived to give me an estimate, he didn't give me a firm estimate because he refused to do the job, saying it wasn't worth it to them. I guess it is up to them whether they wanted to do the job, but if so, why didn't they tell me that on the phone? Then, he tried to talk me into getting a whole new garage door. He said it would only be a few hundred dollars more expensive to replace the whole door than to fix the old one. But, what he was talking about was a very cheap aluminum door to replace the very nice wooden door I have. And, when I checked it out with the garage door company I did hire to do the job, the estimated price they gave me to replace the bottom panel and to replace the whole door was not even close to what it would've cost. So, I didn't hire them and am glad I didn't. The two other companies I checked out gave me good estimates to do the job and the guys I did hire, did the job easily and quickly for much less than the price these guys were estimating to me.
